Time, what is time, and why is it important? Well time is a concept that humans’ brains can perceive, in fact their brains basically construct the past, the present, and the future. Basically, time is a measurement system, and without it the human race wouldn’t have ever existed. Humans have a very simple understanding of time, and they still do not understand its full potential. Humans only understand the measurement of time, and the manipulation and capturing of time overwhelms them. To this day the only way humans have captured time is their memory, and even then they still get it wrong sometimes.

Time, as viewed in this framework, is not only defined as the time on a clock, but the way culture perceives time. Time can be viewed by the calendar; furthermore, some cultures use different calendars or have varying number of days in their week. Some cultures also see clock time as less strict. There are certain cultures where it is normal to be late and others where the time decided is the time one is expected to be there.

Society frees the individual from the tyranny of disorder. When people are working together with rules, chaos does not occur. In Lord of the Flies, the shell signifies society and order. The book begins with Ralph and Piggy blowing the conch to call the other boys together to order and unity. Skinner explains this by people being completely controlled by their environment. The conch is similar to a bell at school where the boys instinctively come after hearing the noise. I agree that people really are controlled by their environment. The choirboys all follow Jack's orders like stopping together and asking permission from him even though they are far from the society in which this rule was established. The

Time remains an important key element of life. It helps us understand the way the world functions. For instance we go through life we begin to realize that time is an element which will not ever come back once it is gone. Time is a valuable gift that people take for granted until they realize that they do not have any time left. Although time is physically the same for everyone, we all experience time in a different manner. Several factors impact our encounter with time. One of those factors is fear. Fear changes the way we perceive time, because when we become overwhelmed by this emotion time appears to slow down. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge demonstrates the way that fear makes us appreciate time and not take it for granted.

A civilization is created by one person or a group of people that are respected enough to be listened to, in order to make laws. This is like what happens in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, where a group of young boys are stranded on an island with no adults. Some people believe that society can control people. People, however, very much so control society. People control society, by electing who leads them, or doing something to get someone into power.

The key to a stabilized society is law and order. Law and order prevents us from becoming savages and showing violent nature. This is what William Golding conveys in his book Lord of the Flies. His novel demonstrates that law and order keeps us from becoming the cruel and dark beings we sometimes wish to be. Power and conquest seems to always go against law and order. Law and order helps us to be stabilized, be civilized, prosper and be in harmony for our own good no matter how much we may hate laws or rules.

Societies are created to have order in the civilization by leadership. Societies have always been a key element to a successful civilization. This can be proven in our past history like WW1. For instance in WW1 societies were created through order, but between alliances. (The allies included Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States). These countries fought against the Central Powers which included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria). Showing how order can bring things together that you might not typically expect. This is also true in the Novel “Lord of the Flies”. The novel would reveal how the stranded boys would use a conch as a symbol of order on who will get to speak. You can see this on page (19) where Ralph would lift up the conch and says “ Seems to me we ought to have a chief to decide things.”Showing his suggestion for order

Rules and order are vital to our safety, governmental systems, and economy. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of a rule is a statement that tells you what is allowed or what will happen within a particular system. According to the same source, the definition of order is the state of peace, freedom from confused or unruly behavior, and respect for law or proper authority.

There were many people to observe throughout the day. You were able to see how many people reacted differently with their surrounding depending on who was around them and who wasn’t.

Without rules and regulations all civilization would plunge into chaos, as there would be nothing protecting us from one another’s most basic self serving instincts, and sometimes self-destructive habits. Often time’s simple rules and regulations protect us from ourselves, such as not touching a hot furnace or driving through an intersection when the light is red. If we look just at laws of the road one can quickly see how many devastating accidents would occur (and how many lives would be ruined) if no one followed the rules of the road. Without the utmost care to follow these rules, things that could easily be prevented may happen, resulting in very negative things.
