Abortion has always had many views and opinions on it. Abortions have been performed for more than a hundred years. In the late 1800’s is when some states began passing laws for making abortions legal. People, still to this day, have tried fighting to make abortions illegal. There are two “categories” on people’s opinions for abortions. The people who are for abortion are pro-choice. The people who are against it are pro-life. Some people think abortions are morally wrong. Another view is abortion is a “human right”. The issue with abortions today has moved from a medical procedure to a means of gaining political power. The issue with people who are against abortion, pro-life, let their religious views and opinions get in the way of what’s …show more content…
Pro-choice people are for abortions. They believe it’s the mothers right to choose what she wants to do and what she wants done with her body. A fetus has been found not to be a person with legal rights, but laws have never stopped abortions, only made it unsafe for women. Abortions have positive benefits for the health and lives for women. Forcing a woman to have a child against her will is morally wrong. Adoption isn’t always an easy choice. A woman has to deal with child birth, and pain just to turn around and give up her baby. Another thing is she might not have the money to pay for hospital bills to give birth. Also in some countries contraception’s are unavailable or women can’t afford it. According to the “pro-choice action network” article, the brain structures and nerve cell connections (the thinking and feeling parts) aren’t completed until the 7th and 8th months. After 30 weeks is when the brain waves show pattern of pain can be perceived. Abortion is a necessary medical procedure. So if abortions become illegal it will only cause unskilled practitioners in unsafe …show more content…
Keeping abortions legal will keep things safe. Abortion is a private matter between a woman and her doctor. Human rights are guaranteed for everyone. Ant-abortion laws cause stress for families that don’t have the resources for a baby. Abortions are safe medical procedures. The overall abortion complication rate is low, and about 25 times lower than child birth (pro choice action network). A recent study has shown the majority of women, 88%, who have abortions do it in their first trimester. The medical abortions have had less than a 0.5% risk of serious complications (10 arguments for and against abortions). Abortion is not a form of contraception. Adoption is not an alternative to abortion. It will still be up to the woman to decide to give her child up for adoption. Statistics have shown that few women who give birth choose to give up their babies. In some cases woman are advised from their doctor to proceed with an abortion due to medical reasons either with the mother or child. Abortions becoming illegal will not stop procedures from happening. The death rates would increase from infections and unsanitary
The issue of abortion is very complex since it raises many issues. People not only have to consider the legal aspect of abortion, but also its medical, ethical, social, biological, and religious aspects, which are still widely debated. First of all, when considering abortion, it is imperative to make sure the mother is safe, which is why people advocate medical procedures over surgical procedures due to the former having less health risks. The drug mifepristone is highly effective and is commonly used to block the production of the hormone that is responsible for proper fetal development and is usually used up to sixty-three days after the beginning of the last menstrual period. In regards to ethical issues, there are the two extremes, the pro-life supporters and the pro-choice supporters, and the individuals with various moderate views justifying abortion depending on the status of the fetus, the rights of both the woman and the fetus,
I have a neutral view point on abortions and I believe that abortions are highly personal and very private decision for anyone to make. I believe it is never easy for any woman to make a choice about having an abortion. Abortion is a private and personal choice because it is a woman body. Women have the control and choice to do what they want and feel is best for them and their body at that particular moment. No one should be able to tell a woman what she can’t do with her body because it violates her right to choice. Another reason why I believe that abortions are highly personal and private is because many women who become pregnant are simply unable to care for a child or may not want to care for a new child and they do not want to raise

Some things are hard to achieve and sometimes they are somewhat wrong, which takes time to get to the main point. In past decades there have been many controversial issues on equal rights and freedoms etc. Abortion rights are one of the issue that has been around since 1800’s. It came to public’s eye after many deaths among women occurred caused by complication and illegal abortion. Decline in birth rates in late 1800’s was also the reason to ban abortion. By the end of 19th century in 1967 abortion was illegal in all U.S. States. It was considered a crime. Still many people were and are against abortion because thinking that abortion is taking away life of baby and is equal to committing murder. Some people are with abortion because
Approximately 57 million unborn children have been affected by the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize abortion since the Roe vs. Wade court case according to a study conducted by the Director of Education and Research at the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund, Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon. If abortion remains legalized in the United States, it will only continue to contribute to the dangers of abortion that women are faced with as well as resume to kill unborn children. Furthermore, adoption is a much better option for anyone in an unwanted pregnancy.
There are so many different views in opinions when it comes to the topic of abortion. There is the religious point that it is wrong to have an abortion because of the ten commandment that states “Thou shall not kill.” All have heard this one whether atheist or religious. People’s right to choose abortion or not has been questioned for many years, as congress officials have tried on many occasions to illegalize this right. Then there is the other side of this opinion where so many feel it is the woman’s right to choose to have an abortion. A lot of people see this as a
Abortions are one of the many things that everyone has an opinion on. As defined by the 2012 Merriam-Webster dictionary, an Encyclopedia Britannica Company, an abortion is, “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation--miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by a domestic animal often due to infection at any time before completion of pregnancy.” Abortions have always been and will probably always be a controversial topic in which everyone will not agree upon. During the controversy, two groups have emerged. These groups are referred to as pro-life and pro-choice. Per Gale Opposing Viewpoints in Context, pro-life supporters claim that life begins at conception, therefore, abortion at any stage in the pregnancy is murder. They believe that life is valuable and the life of the unborn baby has the same rights as the mother. Pro-choice supporters, on the other hand, claim that it is the woman’s right to choose what she does with her body. These pro-abortionists claim that anti-abortionists are truly against the rights of women and free choice rather than the termination of the fetus. Pro-life and pro-choice advocates differ in many of their opinions, specifically, concerning when life begins, affects abortions have on the mother, and how politics and religion play a role in
Abortion is and always will be a very controversial subject. No matter which side of the subject you fall on people are very passionate about their choices. I read excerpts from Frederica Mathews-Green’s book, Real Choices: Listening To Women; Looking for Alternatives To Abortion. Ms. Mathews- Green told of how as a young woman in college she cheered for the outcome of Roe VS Wade and was all for abortion rights. Over the years as she learned about abortion, what it actually is and what it actually does to a women she had a change of mind.
The issue of abortion is has been widely debated for many years and still continues to lead headlines today. It sparks debates in classrooms, courtrooms, and family rooms across the country as the issue is so complex, there are a variety of views and responses to its morality and legality. To understand the current debate over the issues concerning abortion we must not look at this issue from a black and white perspective of what is right and what is wrong , but rather we must take a comprehensive approach which analyzes the complex questions and factors tied to the morality of abortion. By looking at the responses to the question of abortion, as discussed by Mary Anne Warren, Judith Jarvis Thomson, and Don Marquis, we might better understand on how to respond to this issue in terms of what we think and why others assert the view that they do. A comprehensive understanding of the many issues tied to abortion allows one to most successfully defend their beliefs on this complex issue.
Abortion has been a controversial topic for centuries not only in the United States but also in the other parts of the world. Politicians always struggle to strike a balance between the rights of the unborn and the rights of the pregnant woman.
We live in the world, in which every person has his/her opinion towards a topic. People debate deeply on topics such as abortion, gun control/safety, and marriage equality. It is not possible to make all people agree on topics such as those. There are many religions and cultures that people come from; everyone values their own beliefs. The conflict between two sides of abortion has occurred ever since 1960s and early 1970s due to Roe v. Wade case. “In Roe v. Wade (1973), the U.S. Supreme Court stated that abortion bans were unconstitutional in every state, legalizing abortion throughout the United States (Head).” This case was about Roe, who was a single pregnant woman who fought Texas criminal abortion laws. Due to her case, majority voted and made abortion lawful; however many people do not agree on this decision and that is why the debate on abortion is still happening today. Both sides of debate exaggerate and do not want to understand their opponent’s point of view of the topic. They are all blinded in their own “truth”, and do not want to hear anything else.
On the opposite, pro-life supporters assume that fetuses are human, and they are subjected to a lot of pain in the process of an abortion. It is wrong to conclude that a fetus is not a human being since it does not talk, or is not a social entity. Pro-life supporters also argue that a fetus is a potential life and any threat to it is breaking a necessary right to life that is entrenched in almost all constitutions across the world. Pro-choice supporters propose that abortion is an act of purely discrimination to the unborn and that this acts deprives them to the access to a brighter
The topic of abortion has brought about a series of debates, controversy, and activism. People often choose a position when it comes to abortion based off of
This article does not take a particular stance on abortion, but it offers very interesting viewpoints about the specifics of abortion. This article states that a mother who wants to have an abortion may be more motivated if she is told that the tissue can be donated for scientific research. Opponents of abortion say that it is still morally wrong, and funding from the public towards Planned Parenthood motivates them to use the money towards abortions.
The issue of abortion remains to be one of the most controversial issues today, mainly because of its premise as an idea – the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. Obviously, the decision to terminate a human pregnancy is quite shocking to some people, but a recent surge of liberal opinions and social change in the 21st century has seen the rise of abortion and its practices. The most common way of thinking for feminists on abortion is the right over their own body, stating that they should be able to control whether they have a baby or not. This is the most common view point potential mothers use when deciding to have an abortion. My body, my choice.
