4. Operational Analysis

4.1 Five performance objectives

a) Cost: There are multiple catchments areas around the golf course which acquire grey water when it rains which loosely filter into the dams. The dams then fill up which in turn the water gets pumped to various sections of the golf course to use as irrigation. This process cuts out the need for outsourced water and a diversification effect takes place, as social golf fees suffer when it rains, the dams fill and provides a resource which reduces costs.

The government provides a one off grant to Golf Clubs which undertake such projects as it is self-sustainable which is less reliable on the government’s water supply. The grant is an added incentive which we receive $987,000.

During and after construction turning an empty canvas of lake bed and mounds of dirt into a playable course will be worked on by outsourced nurseries as well as our staff and riparian specialists to manage soil and clay levels in the dams. These relationships and other various creditors needed for smaller jobs can affect the speed of the operation which needs to be considered.

d) Dependability: Speed and dependability alike are structured to the goal of opening the course in time before annual subscriptions are sent out. Using problematic estimates:

A= Optimistic time
B= Most likely time
C= Expected time
D= Pessimistic time

Expected time C = [A+4(B)+D]/6
C = 1.58 Years.
= 1 year 7 months approx.

Dependability sets a guideline of when to start stages of Marketing and Promotions and important so new members can give themselves time to join the Club early so the waiting list won’t apply to them.

e) Flexibility – For this certain project flexibility plays a pivotal role in the management of operations. NRGCs aim is to keep as many holes open as possible and for those holes keep as close to par on each one as originally without hindering construction. Ollsen describes project flexibility to have a dilemma in project management. Projects need stability and control to be executed efficiently, measured by time, cost and meeting specifications.
