On The Syllabus Of Mrs. Brauckmann's English II Class

1.1 The primary role of a teacher is to teach. They have to take into consideration the role in which they take to enable learners to learn.

This year in our English 1010 class, we covered many different genres and types of writing. We covered how to write personal narratives, how to respond to other students and other forms of writing, and how to professionally write essays. Briefly, we touched down on how to write argumentatively and were also required to create an infographic, wish was probably my favorite assignment. Although I never thought of myself as a strong writer, I believe that this class has greatly improved not only my writing skills, but my thinking skills as well. This was my first English class to be taken through dual enrollment and I believe that it went quite successfully while challenging me as a writer.

The teacher must know how to set the tone for the classroom and ensure that it is a productive learning environment. The teacher wants to avoid anything that would provoke them negatively as well as the students. At the same time, they must know what is needed to reinforce good behavior.

Because of the constant stories of severe police brutality, it is clear that the efforts to stop this are not effective. 

With regards to classroom rules, teachers have a duty to protect students’ constitutional rights and ensure that they are designing rules and procedures that do not restrict or deny students these rights. As agents of the state, teachers have a duty to follow all federal, state, and local laws while exercising their duties as educators. However, teachers can design classroom rules that ensure that there is no disruption of school operations, or interference with the rights of other students, and safeguards against behavior that is in a lewd fashion

The Holocaust was the systematic and bureaucratic murder of six million Jews by the Nazi party and its collaborators. During the era of the Holocaust, German authorities targeted many groups of people because of their perceived "racial inferiority" including Gypsies, the disabled, and some of the Slavic peoples. Other groups were persecuted on political, ideological, and behavioral grounds. Several authors have written about the Holocaust, but one author that touched many people the most was Elie Wiesel. The class teacher has many roles and responsibilities. These include planning and preparation of the learning activity, taking into account different styles of learning for the children and to teach the curriculum to the children in a way they can all understand. The class teacher also has a responsibility to make sure each child is safe, and that any disruption from other children is dealt with appropriately. Another responsibility is to feedback on each child’s progress, and if there have been any major problems or continuous behaviour difficulties, to report back to the head teacher. If there has been any injury or other major problem e.g. behaviour with a child in the class or lack of attendance, the class teacher has to communicate this with the parents or carer. The class teacher also has to socialise well with the children and act as an effective role model to them.

Looking back on the life of Aldous Huxley, he portrayed many of his problems in Brave New World. Huxley wrote a work that not only made the reader look upon Huxley’s time, but also make them look at their own and make a connection to see if the reader had similar problems still occurring. Literary devices such as characterization and allusions were used by Huxley to give the reader an idea of what was occurring in Huxley’s lifetime. Throughout Brave New World Huxley expressed three main problems: religion, the role of women in society, and the idolization of a “public/business” figure.

I must always be supportive, engaged, and provide a safe and open environment. The most important role I have is making sure the classroom is safe, provides ample space, and promotes learning. Once I have an environment that is setup for success, then I can focus on my interactions with each child. I want to support each child in each area of their development so they feel safe and comfortable while they are exploring and experiencing new things. I also want to be there to support them emotionally.

There are many important elements of the book, The Scarlet Letter, but the five most important scenes start with Hester being set free from prison with Pearl. Then the second scene is Roger Chillingworth, Hester’s husband, coming to town to seek revenge. The next is the scene where the governor threatens to take Pearl away from Hester. The fourth is Hester removes the letter off her chest in the woods. So, the last scene is Dimmesdale reveals his sin on the scaffold to the entire town. All of these significant scenes in the book helped show the moral of the story, which is to be who you are, be true to yourself, and show it to others.

(2.1) The syllabus was explained in class and if a student has question they should ask that question on that day and that day only because according to her she will not entertain any inquiries after that one day. Audrey mentioned to me that after couple of days there was a student who has a question about the syllabus but Ms. Winkelbauer refused to answer the student’s question. Teacher should be open to any type of question that refers to her class and be able to give an answer and clarification so students have a good understanding of what they are dealing with

I feel that number one is important because a lot of times teachers think “they should know this from previous classes”, but in realtiy most of the time we do not, therefore, when they explain it we are lost. Number two, when you have a class like math you cannot put a problem on the board and be like, “okay so this is the answer”, and then expect someone to do it. You should take your time and help them understand what is being showed to them. Number three, I personally hate it when teachers stand in front of a class and read off of the board the whole time.
