I wish to tutor with TutorChatLive so that I may be able to earn service hours and make a positive impact while doing something that is both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating.
My main concern beside helping the student learn in this scenario would be to remain positive and optimistic; discouragement is very likely to occur for the student or is potentially already part of the problem.
In this scenario I would be honest and admit that I do not know how to solve the problem. Assuming there is no other tutor better able to serve the student immediately, I will offer to search for the correct answer and/or spend time trying to solve it.
As a professional I have a mandatory duty to report a youth that is in danger either from suicide or
Instead of taking entire class to drink water and use restroom after lunch, allow groups of students to go while others are working on bell ringers.
Last fall semester, Francis was in my MATH 118 course. During that time, I saw that he had potential to do great things. When I met with him this year, I could see his growth, and that he is heading in the right direction. So I am pleased to recommend Francis as a math tutor for the Tutoring Center, for I know that he has the knowledge and skills for this position.
Will the content of your course or lesson negatively affect any of your students due to emotional and motivational issues? How will you combat this?
It is extremely important that the Learner / group clearly articulate what the problem / situation is to the class. It is essential that the
For learners with a lower academic ability you may need to adapt recourses bearing this in mind for example having a lower expectation of their achievements, but without making this obvious to other class members, and even having additional support such as a teaching assistant who can work closely with those who are struggling, is extremely useful and helps the student to feel more supported.
When going through the assessment process you need to ensure that the learners have a relationship with you as a tutor, so they can feel comfortable speaking to you. They need to know that they can contact you for support and advice. By ensuring this you are improving the chances of the learners informing you if they are struggling with any work
Homeschooling is consistent in order to ensure stability in the learning process. Tutors encourages the child creativity and art. The uniqueness of homeschooling is that it allows the students to go on field trips based on their interests and that is to give a child a wholesome approach to life and situations. Tutors always specifically addresses the child as an individual with the aim of ensuring that they get the most of what was learned. One-on-one tutoring has been proven that it boosts the child’s self-esteem (Terry, 2011). The attention of the one-on-one tutoring encourages the child because that attention shows them that their education matters.
Tutoring these courses including six other biology and chemistry courses, highlights my proficiency in this competency.I acquired this competency by completing over 10 laboratory sections for different sciences course, including physics, biology, and chemistry. Some students come to the tutoring room with the strict purpose of getting their work done, they are not in there to waste their time chatting and forming bonds with the tutors.
In the case of a school staff being approached by a student with suicidal ideation or suicidal thought…
The grade 8 class I was peer tutoring in art were highly welcoming. They treated me no different from the teacher and they were really easy to talk to. When I first went into the class only a few people would let me help them, but over time I got really close to them. They started trusing that I knew what I was doing. Some of the positive aspects of my class are that they
There is an ethical duty to report a client of any age when there are reports of suicidal attempts or ideation. Confidentiality is a consideration, but the safety of Angela is the first priority. There is a legal and ethical duty to report if there is a foreseeable harm (Remley, T. P., & Herlihy, B., 2010). A counselor must be knowledgeable of the proper assessments and tools, and should consult other
Cheryl Rajewski was the second tutor I observed in the Main Library on Thursday from 3-3:30 while she tutored ‘Anatomy and Physiology’. I observed this subject because I am not acquainted with the curriculum. During this session she gave tips, followed the study guide to help prepare for a test, and gave questions similar to what would be on their test. Staying open minded as well, took tips from the tutees on websites that they’ve found helpful.
Before school even begins, I start getting to know my students and their families. I do this at Open house by having the parents fill out a interest inventory on their child. During daily share time, I allow the students to tell me about themselves, their families, and what interests them. I usually learn more about my students learning styles through class activities/discussions, parent teacher conferences, and beginning/middle of the year screenings and assessments. I also learn more about students who have individualized education plans from meetings with the parents, the special education supervisor/speech pathologist, and occupational therapists. Based upon the fact that my students talk about their pets daily, I know that my students enjoy learning about animals and therefore, I decided to begin the unit of study, "Our Great Big World", on penguins.
First, improve communication with students is the priority to improve motivation, anxiety that is fear of unknown and uncertainty leads to lack of motivation and leads to drop out. Beginning period is the most crucial period due to lack of technique skills as well fear of unknown(Visser, Plomp, Amirault, & Kuiper, 2000)
