Will e-book as read on kindle or other e-reader, eventually phase out the conventional print book? Why or why not? Answer: I don’t think e-book will phase out the conventional print book because people often say that print book era has been dead where everything can be finding in eBook and other resources. I too agree with that everything should be in DVD’s, cd’s, usbport etc. but e-Book will help to increase the selling of book. for example if I write down the story by chapter wise every day in eBook after the completation of the book in I can publish the book where I can redesigned the book and I can get the buyer attracted and people will also love the book where it has the version of e-book. 2. Kindle is designed just for reading. Other tablet computers such as the apple ipad or Samsung galaxy can perform all the other function of computer in addition to being an e-reader. I do not know why, but I found myself not interested in books. In general, I think in out culture, reading is not popular as other cultures, and those who love reading is just an exception where the majority do not read. In addition, however, there is a generational shift towards reading habit, I think me and my generation do not read books as those in the previous two or three decades, and that’s due to many factors. Technology is one of the most important factors, one the other hand, Kindle is exploiting technology to make people love reading and it succeeded in doing so with me and others. Unsurprisingly, a study shows that those of age between 19 to 29 are the most prolific E-book readers (1). However, this artifact (E-book) is posing any considerable threat to the hardcopy book industry in the near future. People may have their different opinions about swapping out textbooks for eBooks (online books). But does is truly affect our ability in learning? There is something about the way the book feels in people's hands, they go insane over the new smell of the pages, or even the way it appeals to their eyes. The look of the font, the cover, the pages can all just simply be beautiful to someone. With eBooks, it is just there on the screen, allowing a lot of opportunities to get occupied by something else that could pop up on the screen.
E-Books. E-Books, though originally proposed in the 1930 's, have been around since 1971 when Project Gutenberg was launched and in their modern form since the late 90 's. E-Books became a viable alternative to print books in 2007 with the launch of the Kindle (Bartram). Lower cost, portable, and easily searched, E-Books can replace traditional print texts on devices from the student 's laptop all the way over to the phone that they carry in their pocket. According to Pearson Education, 38.6% of the cost of a student book goes back into the publishing of new copies (U.S. Cong. House. Comm. on Education and The Workforce 24). By purchasing or renting an E-Book the material production cost for a new printed copy can be eliminated, due to the actual copy of the book being released in an electronic form. These costs being eliminated can allow a student to save anywhere from 30 to 50 percent off of the books cost. Some colleges are even putting their entire libraries online, in 2010 The University of Phoenix charged a flat fee of 75 dollars a semester for a student to gain full access to all of their electronic books (Baker-Eveleth 249). For books that have fallen into the public domain a student can use Project Gutenberg. Project Gutenberg was founded in 1971 and has been digitizing books ever since. The project now has over 100,000 E-Books available for download and is adding more every day.
Consumers are no longer buying as many hard copy books since digital readers are more convenient to carry around, they also give more privacy since others can’t see what is being read, and the books are much less expensive.
Books have been around for a substantial amount of time, but new technology now provides an advanced type of book called the ebook. The ebook does everything a normal book does, except instead of the words being on paper the words are on a digital screen. The e-reader does have other capabilities than just being a book, it can download other useful apps that can help you through your day. The question is are these other capabilities hurting or helping the reading experience, and should we trade our paper books for ebooks. Comprehension and connection, durability, and health benefits are reasons to keep your traditional books.
Unlike, paper book, E-books can hold million books in one gadget (McMaken). That device could be tiny as a cell phone and biggest as an iPad. The weight of E-book is smallest as 6 ounces and biggest as 1.6 pounds unless it’s a computer. That beats carrying three or four books when people are on a trip. Plus, if a person finishes all the books they bought before they left
Over the past few centuries, reading books remains one of the most popular ways of spending leisure time for many people. Moreover, being an integral part of our education and work, books have surrounded us since childhood and throughout the entire life. Technical progress did not leave aside this important sphere of human existence, so the modern market is offering us electronic devices for reading, e-Books. As a big fan of reading, I use both a traditional book and its electronic substitute “Nook” and can say, that however each has own advantages over the other, e-Book will be the best choice for people who travel a lot, appreciate their time and money, prefer functional things and are familiar with computer technology.
E-Books are exceptionally valuable for the fact that the do not consume much room or weigh to such an extent. Innovation has had a major effect on books since now there are e-books like Kindle, Nook, iPad, and significantly more. In his article, Ramasubbu, explains, “Some of the reasons for the popularity of e-books over paper books include space savings” In other words, Ramasubbu says that many people chose e-books over paper books because they do not consume many space and is a benefit because it will help with a much easier access. On the other hand, E-books are additionally efficient because the battery can last a couple of days. With paper books, the pages wrinkled on the off chance that it gets harmed via carrying it. Gonchar is alarmed when he finds that “As readers migrated to new digital devices, e-books sales soared, up 1,260 percent between 2008 and 2010, alarming booksellers that watched consumers use their stores to find titles they would later buy.” This means that many people started using more e-books for the fact that the e-books became more popular and powerful. For example, if the e-books are used in a device that is used every day instead of a paper book that one must carry around, it is better to use an e-book. The e-book can be in the phone and there will be no need for extra papers in the hand.
