The STEM program requires critical improvements in curriculum and innovations in instructional practices. Rider-Bertrand said, “ITEEA will continue to invest in the development of tools and resources aimed at promoting technology and engineering education that are research-based and innovative. The STEM program is made for kindergarten to 12th grade. Technology and engineering education needs leaders. The ITEEA has been focused on developing leaders. W. Johnson and T. Johnson informs, “The first is that by teaching students the skills, competencies, conceptual understandings, attitudes, and values necessary to resolve conflicts constructively, a safe and productive learning climate will be created.” Once students have mastered the competencies and attitudes they need to resolve conflicts, they will then have to face their own conflicts rather than avoid them. Through this process there will be both immediate and long-term goals. There has been variety of conflict resolution and peer mediation training programs. These programs could a social science theory or an atheoretical. Conflict resolution programs are being put into schools. This program is to teach students a variety of social skills. The atheoretical strategy is helpful in the short run, but it is not widely adopted. Teachers have been brainstorming the skill that students will need to manage conflicts. This program has not yet been evaluated, but it has spread to several countries. Teachers have to provide the necessary practice of skills to their students.
