In life all will encounter countless obstacles, good and bad, and all must learn how to live through it. In Night, by Elie Wiesel, he was experiencing depressing times and he a Jewish philosopher, had turned away from God. Elie Wiesel's temptation, caused from his grievous situation should not have allowed him to forget who God was. If Elie Wiesel had remembered Psalm 34:17 and Proverbs 3:5-6 he would have acknowledged God in all his hardships.

In Elie Wiesel’s Night, he recounts his horrifying experiences as a Jewish boy under Nazi control. His words are strong and his message clear. Wiesel uses themes such as hunger and death to vividly display his days during World War II. Wiesel’s main purpose is to describe to the reader the horrifying scenes and feelings he suffered through as a repressed Jew. His tone and diction are powerful for this subject and envelope the reader. Young readers today find the actions of Nazis almost unimaginable. This book more than sufficiently portrays the era in the words of a victim himself.

Through his first-person memoir Night, Elie Wiesel reveals that people experience changes in their attitude as they become products of their environments.

One day, when Elie returned from the warehouse, he was summoned by the block secretary to go to the dentist. Elie therefore went to the infirmary block to learn that the reason for his summon was gold teeth extraction. Elie, however pretends to be sick and asks, ”Couldn’t you wait a few days sir? I don’t feel well, I have a fever…” Elie kept telling the dentist that he was sick for several weeks to postpone having the crown removed. Soon after, it had appeared that the dentist had been dealing in the prisoners’ gold teeth for his own benefit. He had been thrown into prison and was about to be hanged. Night begins with the narrator, Elie, talking about Moishe the Beadle, who is described as the “jack-of-all-trades” in a shtibl (Weisel, 21). He then continues by talking about his family. He goes back to talk about his deep conversations with Moishe and their evenings spent together. One day, the foreign Jews of Sighet, where he lives, were expelled. This included Moishe. They were taken away in cattle cars by the Hungarian police. Months past and one day, Elie saw Moishe sitting on a bench near the synagogue. He tells Elie about what happened to him; how he and the other Jews were transported and forced to dig their own graves in the forest. Luckily, Moishe had managed to escape. He had come back to warn the Jews in Sighet of what to come.

In the book night there is a lot of things things that are not talked about, but there is a lot of things that are talked about. For instance starvation, Elie talked a lot about starvation. They would only get a peice of bread and a bowl of really bad soup. Everybody starved in the camp. Elie talked a lot about how him and his father starved. How they would steal bread sometimes to survive. What was not talked about a lot was depression. Depression was common in the Holocaust. The place they were in in general was depressing. Elie would have a reason to be depressed with so many things that happened in his life like not seeing his mother or his sister ever again, or losing his friends that he made

Alycia Grant Rough Draft: The book "Night by Elie Wiesel was the most interesting book that I have ever read. It conveyed very well what had occurred during the Holocaust. Reading this book made me feel the emotions, and stress involved with him being in this situation. The writing was descriptive, but not too much so that it was boring. The writing in this story painted a vivid picture in my mind. No matter where he was, I had a good idea of how his environment appeared in his mind. He described well what he felt, heard, smelled, tasted, and seen. This made me like the book much more, and it helped me better understand how horrible and traumatic this event really was. Elie Wiesel is a strong person in my opinion for being able to go through what he did, and then write about exactly what happened, in deep detail, afterwards.

Elie Wiesel’s Night is about what the Holocaust did, not just to the Jews, but, by extension, to humanity. The disturbing disregard for human beings, or the human body itself, still to this day, exacerbates fear in the hearts of men and women. The animalistic acts by the Nazis has scarred mankind eternally with abhorrence and discrimination.

As humans, we require basic necessities, such as food, water, and shelter to survive. But we also need a reason to live. The reason could be the thought of a person, achieving some goal, or a connection with a higher being. Humans need something that drives them to stay alive. This becomes more evident when people are placed in horrific situations. In Elie Wiesel's memoir Night, he reminisces about his experiences in a Nazi concentration camp during the Holocaust. There the men witness horrific scenes of violence and death. As time goes on they begin to lose hope in the very things that keep them alive: their faith in God, each other, and above all, themselves.

It was at first a slow progression from limiting the rights of the Jewish people, to wearing the Star of David and then to the attempted extermination. The Germans then began a race to kill the Jews as quickly as they could (Wiesel, 2008).

Night is a memoir written by Elie Wiesel, a young Jewish boy, who tells of his experiences during the Holocaust. In the memoir, Night, author Elie Wiesel portrays the dehumanization of individuals and its lasting result in a loss of faith in God. Throughout the Holocaust, Jews were doggedly treated with disrespect and inhumanity. As more cruelty was bestowed upon them, the lower their flame of hope and faith became as they began turning on each other and focused on self preservation over family and friends. The flame within them never completely died, but rather stayed kindling throughout the journey until finally it stood flickering and idle at the eventual halt of this seemingly never-ending nightmare. Friendship is a basic human need, especially for nine year old boys living their childhood. For Bruno who is lonely, bored out of his mind and could not find friends his age to play with and Shmuel a Jewish boy entrapped in a brutal concentration camp, their friendship is one of the only things that can spark a little happiness and lighten up their spirit. The boys meet in the least possible place – the periphery of Auschwitz concentration camp, where one is imprisoned and the other is the son of the Nazi commandant in charge. Although they are meant to see each other as enemies as a Jew and Nazi, there is no hatred between Bruno and Shmuel. They simply see each other as another kid to talk to out of the loneliness of Auschwitz. As the book

The next day where its raining and extremely muddy Bruno went to meetup with Shmuel at the fence to go on the search for Shmuel’s father . Finally Bruno was on the opposite side of the fence , as he was sneaking around trying to blend in with other people he never saw nothing like that seeing everyone looking miserable and skinny.
