People are responsible for what they post, so one should not get upset if a company rejects the application due to misconduct (Source G). Social Media is public, so everyone has the right to view anyone’s activities that they share on it. If one doesn’t want their material viewed, then they should keep their profile private.

Social media is defined as websites and applications used for social networking, in other words it is a way for people to interact and express themselves without being face to face. Social media has become a large part of the life of teenagers, who make up most of the population of people who are subjected to using social media in their daily lives. Many college students are faced with balancing their social lives with school and even athletics making priorities a big dilemma for them. College students in America are affected in many ways by social media whether it be their social life, their happiness, or their grades.

Social media might be destroying the American youth of today. Social media are several websites and applications created so people may commutate, collaborate, or share information through social networking. Enough though social media sounds great, there are big issues such as, cyber bullying, lower grades, and wasting an incredible amount of time. These are things we should all be cautious about when we allow younger folks enter the world of social media.

Companies and colleges could use social networking sites to decrease liability. Some people argue that it’s an invasion of privacy and it’s they’re right to post and think what they think is right and still get into a good respectable college. This could cause danger on campus or in working corders to other students and or employees. It helps colleges and businesses find out if their applicants are doing anything that can ruin their reputation or are doing anything illegal. Director of admissions at Harvard college, Marilyn McGrath, said: “If students make it public it’s public information,” (Cartwright 1). Danger on campus is a huge problem, but businesses and colleges could ruin their reputation by hiring the wrong person.

Today, social media is used by almost all teens. There are so many unrealized negative effects of online apps that adolescents do not know about. In my paper, I wrote about how media can affect many parts of life. One of the quotes that helped demonstrate the great effect was written by Andrea McDaniels, “Studies have shown the around-the-clock world of social media takes a mental and emotional toll on some young people; it has been linked to increased anxiety, depression, and decreased relationship skills”. This showed the many different parts of life that can be impacted by onlinemedia. Overall, this research was inspiring to begin making change by bringing awareness to the numerous mental health risks associated with social media

One in 12 high school students has attempted suicide in the past year due to social media (Rosen 2). The problem with social media is that, it's causing changes in eating and sleeping habits (Rosen 4). Depression is also taking a major role in this negativity (Rosen 3). Social media is said to be the leading cause of depression and anxiety (Ring 1). Teens are being diagnosed with disorders due to social media (Rosen 3). 10,000 adolescents showed that almost 1 in 3 teens have an anxiety disorder (Ring 1). Social media is destroying teens

This generation doesn’t realize how their social media activity can affect their jobs because their social media doesn’t have to deal with their jobs. However, these social media websites are public, allowing these businesses and employers to monitor and view our social media activity. All it takes is one photo, one post, or one tweet to get fired or not hired.

Over the years’ social media has become increasingly popular. More people from different age groups have been taking part in accessing social media. I believe social media has become a big part of our culture today. I remember years ago when I was younger, social media wasn’t as popular as it is now. As the years have gone by, I see more and more people using social media for everything they do. It ranges from younger children who have internet access to older people such as parents and even grandparents. Social media has become a form of communication, a way to interact with friends and family, and an outlet for people to express themselves. Social Media has become so popular that future employers might even get the urge to search a possible candidate’s social media and look through personal information. In my opinion, it is an invasion of privacy and would develop a one sided opinion of the candidate.

Social media gives employers the opportunity to see the true image of how candidates behave in a variety of real social situations, rather than the glimpse provided by the typical 20-30 minute, staged interview, in which the candidate will most likely behave differently anyways due to nervousness or stress. This can give great insight to what it will be like to work alongside a candidate.

Social media affects many people’s lives. The world has changed so much in the last twenty years, and contributing factors like the invention of the phone and computer are a large part of the journey. Teenagers can now talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Although it is true that there are dangers within social media, its benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Social media platforms are positive outlets for teens and young adults to express themselves.

Imagine a high school student as . They are struggling and failing many of their classes. tTthey are not aren’t getting their homework in on time and are not aren’t studying for their tests or quizzes so they are failing. This student goes home everyday from school and is capable of passing and being the elite and prodigious student they can be and are not devoid of it, but is distracted by something called social media . These networking sites which minimizes their the student’s time to do their homework and study or preclude them or incapacitating their time completely. Social media is where you can go online and post pictures or look at other posts and you can collaborate and banter with your friends. This can be a very big thing in someone’s life and can also be the biggest detriment because your profile might be congested with notifications saying your friends posted something. You might go home one day and see that your friend posted something. You would stop your homework and probably check and stay there for hours. Then, you have no time for your homework. Social media can cause this to ruin many students’ lives. Even though social media can benefit students by giving them entertainment and using it for relevant topics as their school work, it is more likely to create a negative impact on a teen’s their life and career.

In a world where technology and social media are essentials to everyday life, parents need to know the negative effects it has on their children. Since the rapid growth of the internet in the past several decades, social media has become one of its most utilized services. Today’s youth document their everyday lives through various social media platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, among many others. Although many will believe that this is considered an escape for teens in this crazy world we live in, there are negative repercussions that come with social media. The negative effects of social media outweigh the positive effects which in turn create a major concern for our youth. They are our future and we need them to prosper in order to better their own lives. Being exposed to social media may lead to cyberbullying, poor health and negative life decisions, and lack of social skills. Parents and guardians should be more informed on this issue in order to protect their children from the negative effects of social media.

Firstly, we need to understand what social media is. From a broader and vague perspective, social media can be referred as the wide variety of mobile and Internet-based services that allow users to contribute to online exchanges, join online communities, or contribute user-created content. Although social has helped us learn more and educate ourselves on many things, it has a lot of mental effects on our bodies. It has detrimental effects on our wellbeing (Bányai et al. 52). Social media is a platform that has an increasingly significant impact not only on our mental health but also multiple facets of modern life beyond online communication. This platform is misleading the teens and the young adults because they are the most who spent a lot of time socializing online and doing all manner of things thus exposing themselves to the risk of developing the mental problems. They get all negative effects that are associated with social media because they spent most of their time online. Although social media has more good than harm, we also need not spend most of our time online as this will bring us many mental problems that can affect our entire life. Social media has vast negative effects on oneself, specifically on depression, addiction, self-esteem, and confidence, therefore we need to regulate the usage of it to avoid these problems in the future.

Social media is great for broadening social connections and learning technical skills, but the risks cannot be overlooked. There is a huge lack of self-regulation along with increasing susceptibility to peer pressure seen in adolescents and some adults that is causing depression, sexting and cyberbullying. There have been cases of obesity, addiction (to devices), and sleep deprivation linked back to social media. All of which are very realistic threats to our youth.
