I believe I would make a great candidate for the National English Honors Society because I share the beliefs of the mission statement in multiple ways. I have always loved literature and will remain interested in it. I believe in building a community of academic achievers as well as trying my best to be one. I try to excel in all that I do by maintaining high grades and also being part of the community outside of school. English has always been one of my favorite subjects and I am looking forward to sharing my love for English with others. As a child I have always loved English and wanted to excel and impress others. I loved to write short stories and would read for several hours. I would spend several consecutive hours reading books to impress …show more content…
English has always been one of my favorite subjects because it allows me to use imagination and creativity while always learning something new. I constantly read and even participated in a small book club. I also began writing short stories in a journal and sharing them with others. I love being able to write whatever I may think of and turning it into something more. The passion I have for English has stuck with me for years and I have been trying to share it with others. I always try to achieve academically and participate in as much as I can. I believe that no one should have to struggle with English and each person should feel the same joy of reading as I do. Several people do not like reading or writing but I love to see all the different styles and points of views there are. For the past two years I have been in honors English classes and will take …show more content…
A lot of people are uninterested in reading and writing because they think it is boring or a lot of work. I am looking forward to thinking of fun and exciting ways to promote English. I believe that all types of literature are exciting and have purpose. I love to read all the different points of views authors have. I also love how every piece of literature has a purpose. I think it is fun to find all of the hidden messages and symbolism in texts. When I read, I am amazed by the author’s ability to make me feel like I am transported into another world. I love the adventure and the feeling of a book so good that I cannot put it down. English is so exciting to me because you can be as creative and imaginative as you want. I want to help others unleash their creative side instead of thinking of English as just educational. As a member of NEHS, I would have the ability to think of ideas to encourage English along with those who feel the same as I do. For example, it would be fun to hold book drives for children that do not have any. I would like to volunteer more at places like the library and elementary schools where we can show children that literature is an amazing subject that can help to see the world in a new
I, Sara Samir, am interested in joining National English Honor Society (NEHS). Throughout my years at Calhoun, I have grown as student thanks to the wonderful English staff here. They have all helped me excel in several areas of English. With my accomplishments and grades in English throughout high school, and after completing a few more of the requirements, I feel that I am eligible to be considered to be part of NEHS.
I am honored to be among the commendable students whom are being considered to be a part of such a prestigious organization, The National Honor Society. I have been wanting to be a part of this organization the second I stepped into this school. Of course I have worked vigorously for it, there has not been one year here at Lone Star where I have not been in less than 3 Pre-AP or AP classes with averages frequently resulting in an A. I work hard everyday and night in order to ensure my success now and in the future. National Honor Society is an exceptional group brimmed with bright young men and women who create the world of tomorrow. I, Jadzia Sanchez, Class of 2017, yearn to be a part of such a group. I have been a part of theatre in both middle school and high school, I am a very active thespian and have branched out by joining acting classes outside of school.
I am truly humbled and honored to be selected amongst the top students in my graduating class and I am excited to be given the opportunity to represent Gateway High School in our chapter of National Honor Society. I firmly believe that I posses traits that fulfill the pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Scholarship in my eyes is the ability to excel at high level educational studies. As a student, I strive for excellence in every way I can. I have taken a variety of AP and Honors classes during my time in high school, and I am proud to say that I have found myself on High Honor Roll on each report card I have received. I have been able to maintain a 3.85 GPA through two and a half years of school. Aside from school,
I am honored and excited to be writing about how I can support the National Honor Society (NHS). I was first introduced to the NHS, around 10 years of age, by my Uncles awards he proudly displays in his “Man Cave” along with many other academic and leadership awards he had received from Jr. High all the way through College. Of course, he saw me looking over the many ribbons, medals, trophies, pictures and I could continue; however this is not about him and when he saw me looking at them he had no problem coming over and explaining what each award was and how he had received each one. Then we got to the NHS picture, medal & yellow cord. He explained how he was “tapped” into NHS as a Sophomore and he made sure I understood that was not the
I am honored to be among the many students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I believe that this organization does amazing things not just for the students at Harrison Community Schools but for everyone in the community and the surrounding communities. I hope to be a part of furthering the impressions that this organization has set among the public. I strive to be apart of NHS and the positive changes they inflict on many lives because I have worked hard to get to this point. Leadership, Character and Service have brought me far in life therefore they are my strength to evolve into positive changes that better everyone.
During adolescence, I began reading and writing through a fundamental learning program called, "Hooked on Phonics." This program consisted of long hours spent reading short novels and writing
When it comes to leadership the mores experience you have, the high chance of success the team has. National Honors Society is a brilliant program, in which it allows students to take part in programs that have a positive impact on the community. This would help me in the future because with the ability to be a leader I can see what works and what does not. Also with the lessons I learn about leadership I will be able to use it in my future career field. With the experience of being a leader, I can further my career by planning events with museums and exhibits.

I would love to be considered for English Honor Society. I believe I am a very responsible and respectful student who always tries her best with everything. I will contribute a lot to this group and be more involved in our community.
Throughout every aspect of my learning, I always strive to further my own skills by fully immersing myself into the specific scenario, so joining the National English Honor Society will allow my skills and passion towards English to flourish. In my efforts to benefit my own studies and desires, I innately establish leadership roles in the activities I devote my time to the extent I can, such as Student Council. If given the opportunity to become a member of the National English Honor Society, I will gladly attempt to contribute to the organization’s projects because I naturally invest myself entirely in the things that I do. Being a part of the organization would foster more opportunities in my future where I could continue the passion I have
National English Honors Society is a way for me to serve the community while doing something that I love. Since I was a child, I have always had a strong love of English. I’ve been writing since I was six years old. After a lot of hard work, I won first place for poetry in the county’s “Write Now” contest at fourteen years old. I feel as though my biggest talents are writing and strong interpersonal skills, so I could help to spread the word and organize events with local schools, retirement homes, and other places. In English classes, I always strive to have an A average by the end of the year. This year, I am pushing myself even further by taking the eleventh grade AP English course. To me, NEHS would be a great way to serve others and
I grew up with both of my parents who mostly spoke Vietnamese. Vietnamese was my primary language at home, and I became very fluent in it. A majority of my friends also spoke Vietnamese. I put a lot of effort towards my education. Learning English was by the far the most difficult challenges for me and I felt that it held me back from my education. I found it difficult to practice my English such as learning grammar, reading, writing, and speaking. These factors along with other limitations made English one of my most difficult subjects. I started to find ways to improve with my English like by adding subtitles when watching films. English is still one of my biggest challenges today but I strive to do my
To start off, I was in a spelling bee in 6th grade and I really loved english. I was a nerd and I thought spelling was so fun, but all my friends did not english and they were not good at it. English was my favorite subject
I remember the day I became enamored with the subject of English. It was freshman year and my English teacher Mr. Lubera was also new to the school. I stepped into the small classroom full of Shakespeare posters combined with the soothing scent of an apple pie candle resting on his desk. I did not know what to think at the time because at this point English and books were something I could not care less for, however the moment Mr. Lubera walked through that door full of excitement and the cheesiest puns I have ever heard I knew I would love his class. I remember sitting in the library working on a persuasive essay for two weeks and how he told us of every pitfall we could encounter and what to do if it does. I remember acting out Romeo and Juliet during class and then discussing what happened and the meaning. Most importantly however, I remember the time we finished the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” and had a socratic seminar about the ending and the enduring themes within. It was in this class that Mr. Lubera showed me how fun English can be and I have been enticed in the subject ever since. Every year I would look forward to my English class in hopes that I would learn something new or read something interesting. It is because of this experience that I want to become an English teacher and recreate my experience for others.
What I enjoy about English is that the novels and short stories studies. There are some things that bother me about in the past are: I was not able to reach the goal (overall percentage mark) in ELA last year. I do not relate with people that much because they are more knowledgeable in English Language than I do. I get intimidated easily and my essay writing is not up to the advanced placement standard. I read books for pleasure, reading books is one of my favorite spare time activities. I do not consider myself a writer anymore because I always find it hard to start a paragraph or essay or anything and I lost interest. When I was little, I wrote lots of short stories to the extent of writng a short story book. Most of the stories written were based on the childhood movies I watched e.g. Barbie movie, tom and jerry. Unfortunately for me, the story book was not edited neither was it published. This is because I had no
