Introduction “A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, or how much money I had in the bank… but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child.” This quote by Forest Witcraft truly encompasses the reason I want to teach. I hope to have an impact on my future students, and this part of my teaching philosophy can be tied into my practicum experience. As a volunteer in a kindergarten classroom at St. John Elementary I have had the opportunity to learn from teachers and students from a different background than my own. I hope that by taking time to work with these students I am making a difference in their academic success. My teaching philosophy is that education is the means to a successful life, and as a teacher it is my job to not only educate my students, but to build real relationships with them. Body Education is the means by which we gain knowledge. This knowledge helps us to form thoughts and opinions on the world around us. School is the primary source of education, so it is important for myself as a future teacher to understand the purpose of education. The first thought that comes to mind when I thought of the purpose of education was that it is essential to building a career. To have a career one must, for the most part, go to college. The path to a college career begins in the early years of school. Education also builds confidence. This confidence breeds successful
There seems to be no perfect answer to the question, “What is the purpose of education?” Every expert and activist probably has a different answer. Martin Luther King said the purpose of education is to, “…enable a man to become more efficient, to achieve with increasing facility the legitimate goals of his life (King, 1947).” Eleanor Roosevelt argued that the purpose of education is good citizenship (Roosevelt, 1930). Others, like Newman (2006), posit that education is a much broader idea. It is the “entire process by which a culture transmits itself across a generation” (Newman, 2006). In trying to form my own idea of the purpose of education, I tried to look at all of these ideas
The purpose of education in the United States is to prepare young people for their future by giving them the knowledge and skills so they can be successful. The purpose of education is to create emotionally healthy young adults that will make good choices and are responsible.
The Purpose of Education has been a very widely talked about subject within parents and students, but what really is the answer to this much asked question? I believe the purpose of education is to get useful personality traits through your experiences in school and to be morally ethical. In the article, “The Goal of Education is Becoming” , the author, Marc Prensky talks about his beliefs in education for our young children, “The real goal of education, and of school, is becoming—becoming a ‘good’ person and becoming a more capable person than when you started” (Prensky 3). The author clearly describes that the new generation has to “become” a better person than how they started and find who they really are. Additionally, the students can
I feel that the goal of education is to open up a world of possibilities for learners. The purpose of education is to show someone that they have the ability to do and be whomever they want to. Education is simply there for bettering oneself and one’s world.
Education is important because it helps students to grow physically and mentally. The overall purpose of education is to help prepare students for what they plan to do in their lives. As Plato would state, schools should help students find their roles in society. If a student wants to attend college, that student should take courses that will prepare them for higher education. The student interested in pursuing a trade upon graduating high school should follow an educational path that will prepare them for such work.
The purpose of education is enlightening the mind socially, morally and academically. It is also to have knowledge about the world and everything around us. Education is Knowledge. It makes us acquire skills and gives you an insight on the things you desire to know. There are many philosophies that have been established already but my philosophy of education is that every child has the ability to learn and when given the opportunity the outcome is powerful. Education is a unique and individual learning experience to each student therefore teachers should be passionate about teaching and make an impact on each of their student. In order to get through to each student, a teacher must fully understand his/her job. As a teacher, you are assigned
The purpose of education is to teach children at a young age not only academics, but morals as well. Children behave according to the models they have set before them, and if that particular model is not at home, at least they can receive instruction from school. Education also enables children to learn who they are, and where they may want to go in life.
Getting educated is very important for every person. It goes without saying that each of us has to have a proper education. We learn how to read, count and write. These are the basic abilities we acquire and use during our life. Is there any other purpose of education or it is aimed only at giving us a possibility to communicate our ideas and satisfy basic needs? During centuries, there were different interpretations of the purpose of education. Many scientists, pedagogues and philosophers tried to answer the question: what is the purpose of education? Taking into consideration the needs and tendencies of a modern society, we can assume that the purpose of education is to prepare students to be self-sufficient citizens capable of solving
The purpose of an education is to prepare young children and adults for life, work, and citizenship after completing school. Also, it is my duty as a future educator to empower students in a process that allows them to develop their passion, compassion, drive, critical thinking skills, and orientation towards wisdom for timely action. An education and the affect I will have on my students will place their empty minds with a more open one. I will instill in them, an education is the key to life and it opens many doors.
Education plays a significant role in everyone's life. The purpose of education is to better our society as a whole. I believe education expands the minds of children and helps to give them a guideline on how to survive in the world. The purpose of a teacher is to provide students with an array of beliefs and views, which will later allow the students to create their own ideas about what is important in the world. The main goal of most teachers is to enforce ideas that they believe will be most valuable for a child's life.
I believe the over all purpose of education is to convey a large body of knowledge effectively, to encourage the development of thinking and reasoning and to nurture an understanding that students can extend to situations beyond the classroom. Presenting the material in a creative way and setting a good example for children to follow does this. An education is very important if you want to have a successful career. In the society we live in you must have
The overall purpose of education is not only to teach students about the set curriculum, but also to teach them to be individuals and creative thinkers. As a teacher one has to go farther than just to teach, you are a role model, a doctor, and most importantly while still having control you are a friend. I feel education is important because as a
Education is about teaching and learning for improving skills and knowledge. Education also means helping people to do, to learn and encouraging them to think what they learn. Education can give people knowledge of society, country, the world and many things else. From children to adult are supposed to have knowledge through education. More details, education helps and guide people from uneducated to knowledge.
What is the purpose of education? Wow, that is a loaded question. For many students, their educational experience will look different from their classmates. Some want to become doctors and lawyers while others desire to be auto mechanics and beauticians. Although it may be easier if everyone had the same purpose through education, that is definitely not the case. As a future educator I want to ensure my students have an impactful education. My educational philosophy contains multiple purposes for education including providing a bright future for everyone, fostering growth, instilling a love for learning, and teaching kids that anything can be accomplished.
The purpose of education is to teach students life-long skills that they will always need. It is to bring children a full realization of what it truly means to be and function as a human being in society. It is also to prepare children for a career or job that they may obtain one day. The purpose of education is also to teach
