Ever since a few years ago I have always wanted to become a photographer. I feel as if photography flows through my veins and out my finger to snap the perfect picture. I started out by taking pictures of things in my backyard, and they turned out really good and ever sense then I have been taking photography. As shy as I am going to Cranbrook has changed the way I look at my photography and the way I look at the world in general, but most of all not being not so scared to meet new people. At first I was extremely scared to go to the school, no part of me wanted to even go. But, when you get an opportunity like what I did, take it! You won't regret it.
Over the summer I was accepted into the school Cranbrook because of my photography, you

I have made friends from Paris, Russia, and Puerto Rico.
The first day was my favorite, I went to my art instructor and I saw a girl already by the teacher, and there was about 7 kids in that class, so it was real easy to make friends. We started talking and I found out she was from Paris. She was really nice and funny, and we had a lot in common too! She taught me a few things in French as well. There were two kids from Russia, California, Paris, and North Carolina. My camera is a Canon rebel EOS 5,000. Canon cameras are a bit expensive, mine was around $1,400-$2,000.The first couple days you learn about the shutter speed, the aperture, and the ways the lens work. So those were a few things I already knew about my camera, but I learned a lot of different things that I didn't already know.
We all played a game to get to know each other. We took a piece of paper while the instructor gave us an example, “You start by folding the paper into fours, then write four things about you, but don't put your name on it. Then fold it back up and put it in the box,” The instructor stated.
I drew that I liked to penny board, that I liked to listen to Fall Out Boy, and that O2L was my favorite YouTube group, I also drew a

Produce procurement, a long-studied topic in cultural anthropology, defines the everyday interactions relating to values and norms as well as power through a simple outlet: food. For this ethnographic observation: produce procurement, I decided to observe one of the bigger grocery store chains, Jewel. It was here, where I observed different views and concepts relating to food venues, specifically grocery stores, that are important to both producer and consumer in aesthetic, type of produce, demographic, and communication.
Ethnographic research is the scientific description of specific human cultures, foreign to the ethnographer. Each ethnographer has his or her own way of conducting research and all of these different ideas can be transmitted and understood in a number of different ways. Because there is no one set idea of how an ethnographer should go about his or her research, conflicts arise. In Reflections on Fieldwork in Morocco, Paul Rabinow uses a story like process to discuss his experiences during his research in Morocco. This makes it easier for the reader to understand his ideas then just having a technical book about the many different aspects of Moroccan life that he may have discovered. In Writing Culture: the Poetics and Politics of
Me: As I performed the posture test on myself I already knew that I would have proper posture. Due to the fact that when I was younger, I looked in the mirror and noticed that I had a slouchy posture. I had (Lordosis) and an anterior pelvic tilt, which made me look awful from a side point of view. I wanted to fix my posture and learned that I had weak abdominal muscles and tight hamstrings along with weak gluteus maximus muscles. As I learned how to fix my problem, I began doing exercises for those muscles for flexibility and strength gains. For my exercises in detail I began standing for a long period of time and would flex my gluteus maximus muscles and keep them tight for a period of time to strengthen them which would be for a few minutes. This fixed the slight curve in my lower back. The next step I performed was the same as with my gluteus maximus muscles but for my abs which helped keep a good posture naturally without thinking about my posture deviations and how to fix them. I could now begin to stand naturally with a good posture. The last step I did was stand against a wall with my back and neck flat against the wall and I would press my tongue against the top of my mouth to
Courtney was not available to meet in person due to the time constraints. This was unfortunate because I would have preferred to do the interview in person, as it is easier to talk to people and is an important way of getting information from someone. We decided on doing a Skype session to talk about Jimmy and his disability. We decided on talking at 7 P.M. on a Wednesday night and allowed one and a half hours to talk about Jimmy. Since I have known Jimmy for many years, I did not want to come in to the interview with a bias. I asked very straightforward, basic, probing questions, assuming I did not know anything about Jimmy or his disability. Courtney is very passionate about working with children with Autism; she also studies Neuroscience
I took a trip to Greek town Casino in Detroit Michigan with my father, this trip was something of an unexpected trip but I figured it was a great place to observe the behaviors of many different cultures as Greek town casino is the home of a multicultural society. I wanted to observe the behaviors of those between African American’s and Caucasian persons. I wanted to see if one race over the other tended to gamble more or if one culture got more aggressive as the night went on.
I have decided to study the Bangladesh Muslim Center, also known as the Jame Masjid/Mosque by the locals for my ethnographic fieldwork project. The mosque is located in the Kensington neighborhood of the Brooklyn borough of New York City. The place of worship may be found on the corner of McDonald Avenue and Cortelyou Road; and the F train runs right in front of the building. It is in such an area where at times the noise level is at a maximum due to several building supply and material warehouses nearby, trucks passing by, and construction on the subway line. At other times, one may hear a pin drop.
One of the most exciting places to go is The Pyrenees in Europe. The converse, it is extreme with a bunch of amusing activities that residents And tourist like. With Nature, including its course, the landscapes bring tourist attraction. Most importantly, facts are important, like how many geologists know many different factors to this National Park, which is why it brings out the beauty, the prehistoric times that went on, including how the transformation of the park was made. “The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one's own country as a foreign land,” (G.K. Chesterton) the Pyrenees is crossed by two rails, one from Spain, the other connecting France. So basically, Spain, France, and Europe are somewhat connected (Pyrenees Crossing).
My Family has been supporting me since I was born. When I told my parents and brothers that I was applying to Bethel they were all so excited. My two older Brothers attended Bethel, so they know how great of a school it is. I told my family that I am applying to Bethel because of their great business programs and their godly influence and they were pleased to hear that.
During my High School career, I’ve become involved in many different hobbies/activities to occupy my time whether it be clubs, sports, or things outside of school. The camera has impacted my life greatly throughout my High School years. This interest isn’t only about taking pictures or making simple videos, it begins to open doors for other sparks and interests in your life.
When I first saw I would be doing my research on China, I was excited; I have a few friends who are from China. The first thoughts that came to my mind were Chinese New Year, unique food, and fascinating traditions. My research pertains to understanding what factors make up the inequality of health and education between rural and urban cities in China. The first time I saw anything pertaining to this issue, I found it interesting because the situation is comparable to what the U.S experiences. Before I preceded to do my research, I did not know how the government in China was handling the situation. After talking with my service-learning partner, Hui and doing my own research, I found that this topic is very complicated. There are many reasons
If designers know very little about the situation in which technologies are used, they have to rely on their own experiences and imaginations running the risk of designing products better suited to their needs than those of actual user. Ethnographic research establishes an ongoing relationship with users based on first-hand knowledge of the user.
Since I don’t know a lot now about photography I’m hoping to find a passion for it by the end. I want to turn photography into something I carry with me throughout the rest of my life. I want to be able to teach my kids about it just like my grandfather did for me and turn it into something they love. I see this senior project as an opportunity to take advantage of something that I’m interested in and turn it into a passion. Hopefully this won’t just make me a better photographer or help me take great pictures. I want this experience to better me as a person and I want to learn new things and experience new
Going into a field site to conduct observations for a research project/paper, it’s something I have never done. So I did not know what to expect or what the outcome of it would be like. It was very challenging to find a field site especially when you do not know what you are going to write about. It was a struggle finding a location because it was problematic for me to commit to one location. The things I was witnessing in certain locations didn’t really catch my interest. To be honest I didn’t know what an ethnography was because I never read one in my life which was the challenging part. Which is why it was really difficult for me to come up with an idea. My classmates were coming up with magnificent ideas and I felt discouraged because my
I never thought about photography it always seemed like something I couldn’t do. My father and sister both were photoghers and that was the main reason I didn 't want to take photos, because I feared I wouldn’t live up to what they could create. But, the first time I didn 't care about expectations or what people might think was the first time I really wanted to take pictures. It began in the 6th grade, I got my first camera, it was baby blue and not very professional, but I loved it. Even though it was a short love affair, I took some photo’s that I still treasure today (which include a sunset and orange blossoms).
