Introduction to Research Methodologies
MAE 504 Research Methods in Education
Dr. Wilson
Tiaqunia Hayes
Your task for the Module 1 SLP assignment is twofold: FIRST, fill in the matrix with information pertaining to the following items: identify the type of research represented by each methodology listed in the matrix (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods) describe the purpose of each research methodology listed in the matrix, provide an example of a research problem for each methodology listed in the matrix
SECOND, write a 3- to 4-page narrative essay in which you address the following items: discuss what constitutes a research problem, compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative

Once your topic has been identified and vetted for previous related studies, relevancy, and researchability, you than can move on and figure out which type of research procedures that you will take to obtain your answers. Next you will need to decide on how you will obtain and analyze your research data. This process will be determined by the type of research problem that was define in the beginning of the research development and revolve around your hypothesis or desired results (M., 2004). You will have annotate and share the results of your data collection. This after action report of the obtained data will allow the researcher to determine whether or not the desired results were obtained or will there need to be some follow on research in order to generate expanded results. Two of the research methods that are used on a regular bases are the qualitative and quantitative research methods. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages and are used based off of the define research problem and what answers the researcher is aiming or prepared to discover. Not all research and data are created equal and neither are the methods that are used to collecting and analyzing the data. The qualitative research method uses an interactive research model that is aimed to providing a flexible means of data collection through observation and social reliance (Johnson, Quantitative, Qualitative, and
Report findings and conclusions from the research project (remember to include your action plan given to you at the beginning of the course) (P6)
Frame a research question/state a hypothesis as to what you will be looking to demonstrate in your work.
Qualitative research is subjective data and is often used in the social sciences (Sarantakos 2013, p. 48). Qualitative research is devoted to gathering facts, this can be completed through personal experiences, behaviours, and observations (Sarantakos 2013, p. 46). The purpose of qualitative research is to gather an in depth understanding of human behaviour and the explanations for the behaviour (Martijn & Sharpe 2006, p. 1). An issue with only using a qualitative method is efficacy, qualitative studies cannot address relationships between variables with the degree of accuracy that is required to establish social trends (Sarantakos 2013, p. 46).
Conduct research for, and write a research essay on a topic related to one of the three previous sections of Module 1:
Qualitative research is subject to judgments about the data and synthesizes the findings using specialized approaches such as experimental or non-experimental. Researchers often opt to use non-experimental approaches in studies using surveys, interviews, observations, and case studies. Even though an experimental approach is appropriate in quantitative research, it further enables researchers to find answers and collect data (Bagozzi & Yi, 2012). This approach is unique in its hypotheses and the study of behavior, making it valid and reliable.
Data collection methods- the researcher needs to pick how the information for this subject can be collected (observation, questionnaires, interviews) and so forth. Analysis and presentation of findings- the researcher needs to use reports and other information gathering it into one to present the hypothesis. Conclusion- what does the studies say about this topic, this is based on all the information that was gathered together to get the correct conclusion.
The researcher will look at different methods and decide which should use to gather the information required to answer the hypothesis questions. These methods may both include quantitative and qualitative approach such as interviews, questionnaires, conducting experiments or gathering data through statistic. After choosing appropriate methods, the researcher will investigate possible ethical implications, validity and reliability of the data collected.
My proposed method of analysis is to first research my research question and hypothesis thoroughly. The literature review will definitely point me in the right direction to getting all the material I need for that part. Next, I need to analyze the variable
Research methods provide guidance on designing a study. Research design and use of theory varies per research method. Each design has specific requirements pertaining to issues such as the role of theory, data collection, and the use of variables (Jackson, 2012). Researchers conduct studies when a problem or gap in the literature pertaining to a topic is identified, or when a weakness in an existing theory is identified. The researcher then formulates a research question. The research study should be designed to answer the research

Describe the training and experience you have in regards to your methods for collecting and for analyzing your data.

Formulating a research question is one of the most important aspects of research itself. There are two
This chapter will present how the author finds answers to our research questions, the author will explain the origin of secondary data and how the samples will be selected. Figure 9 is the schematic presentation of the methodology.
First of all. I learned research methods from the video lecture. That is the first time I've heard about a detailed explanation of research methods. I was really interested in it because it is very important for us. The higher education level we are, the more research we need to do. As what I've learned, research has seven methods. The first step called: “defining the problem”. That means at the really first time when we do research, we should know what we want to know via this research. We need to come up some research question in our mind. The second step called: “reviewing the literature”. In this step, we should read some previous studies which are related to our topic. The literature must be trustable, and for journals, peer review is the better choice. The third step called: ” forming a hypothesis”. This step tells us after we are familiar with the previous research, maybe we can form a hypothesis in our mind. Actually, I have a little question about this step. Is this hypothesis based on the gap in the previous? The fourth step is choosing a research design. This is a step that organizes our research method. We need to think about who is the participants, when and how well we collect data. The fifth step is collecting the data. This step is kind of do your research plan what you prepared in the fourth step. There are many ways we can choose to collect data. Such as questionnaires, online survey etc. Next step is analyzing the data. This step is kind of tell the readers our research results. For here, we should determine if our hypothesis was true, false, or inconclusive. Also how the result similar to your thought. The final step is drawing conclusions. I think this is the most important part because you
