One of Diana spookiest experiences of her life was when her cousins and Diana would hear weird sounds in the night. This scenario relates to the traits of Gothic Lit and Magical Realism because the sounds did happen so it's reality. Gothic Lit and Magical Realism are similar because they are both scary, mysterious, and are dramatic. Edgar Allen Poe’s “Fall of the House of Usher” is an example of Gothic Literature because it has a dark and gloomy setting in a large old mansion. While Julio Cortazar’s “House Taken Over” is an example of Magical Realism because it has a mysterious ending. [Kayla Lepe] Gothic literature & Magical Realism are similar because of their ending .In Joyce Carol Oates “Where is Here’’readers do not know what happens. For instance “she slammed the open the door. Grabbed a pair of plot holders with insulated lining. I wasn't the one.... She cried panting and you know it” (45).However, Julio Cortazar “House Taken Over”is similar because we also do not know what happen to the characters or where they went . This is proven when “it wouldn't do to have some poor devil decide to go in and rob the house, at that hour and with house taken over”(29). Therefore, the two stories are two similar because they both have ambiguous ending. In Joyce Carol Oates’ “Where is Here” happens the story starts off in a normal and neighborhood in an early November evening and in The Fall of The house of Usher it starts off in a dull and soundless day in the autumn.For instance in Where Is Here is states that they [Lived in a quiet residential neighborhood](Oates 1).This
