The artifacts section of the portfolio is present the works I have done through my time in the MPA program. The artifacts range from the assignments I needed to complete from my courses to my internship experience. The purpose of this section is to displace how each of the work helped increase my skills and competencies as a public administrator. Artifact I- Internship Journal My first artifact is an internship journal for the Government Internship (6941) curriculum. I did this journal throughout the Fall 2016 semester (August- December). The purpose of this journal is to elaborate the day-to-day activities and assignments that I needed to complete when I interned at The Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade. For example, the journal shows the meetings
After taking CIPD the advance diploma level 7 course and moving into a new company to work as training and development supervisor. I started looking into things more differently. I discovered after completing this learning outcome that I have lots of gaps that I needed towards. Due to my previous experience in dealing with teams, I started reading more online about the characteristics of effective teams. Therefore, when I joined a team this time, I took the leadership of the group to ensure we are going on the right track and test my capabilities. The course made me understand that I love to take authority and I have direct style where I act like a forceful taskmaster and apply pressure on others to achieve results (evidence 1.1). I ensured
The best artifact that I believe will probably best describe my future plans is a house. A house up for sale represents what job I hope to have in the future. A career in which I will be my own man and control my own destiny by becoming a real estate broker. I plan to one day own my own real estate business and will be able to schedule my own hours and live my life as free as possible. So you may say that a house could be an artifact for everyone since the majority of students in our class will one day own one. But that’s in fact why I’d like to become a real estate broker, because almost every person eventually rents or owns their own house and I would like to be the person reaping the benefits of something called commission.
My first artifact is a copy of an e-mail I sent to one of the parents whose son was struggling in school. In this e-mail I analyzed his needs and tried to establish parameters for solutions to the problem. This shows my ability to frame issues and suggesting action plan.
Your second portfolio artifact will be theprofessional audit program based on PCAOB audit standards that you create for Newham, an
For my twelfth grade Senior Capstone project, I am choosing to do my internship in the field of neurology and neuroscience, with an additional focus on medication and therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. My initial interest in this topic is admittedly quite embarrassing; while flipping through channels one night, I found myself mildly piqued by the (heavily glamorized) TV show Criminal Minds and soon I was following the series religiously and developed an interest in “psychology”. I was able to gain more understanding of this topic when I attended the Duke TIP program the summer before my ninth grade year, delving briefly into criminal psychology and the law. I then spent the rest of that summer volunteering
I have been a Resident Assistant (RA) for about five weeks. Training to be a RA was tiring but very educational. I learned how to handle multiple situations that could happen with me being RA. After training, it was a series of task that I had to complete as a RA. Those task included: completing forty-four Room Inventory Form, putting in fix it tickets, etc.
The first thing I learned from the PT is that you can have any major and still apply to PT school as long as you take the required classes. PT schools look to diversify the majors and students they accept. The first thing I learned from the OT is that you do not have to take the GRE to be accepted into some OT schools. The process for applying was all online and was straight forward. The first thing I learned from the PA is that patient care hours are huge. She recommended that you have them anywhere from 1,000 to 8,000 patient care hours when applying.
Three years ago, I was first introduced to the Student National Pharmaceutical Association. The mission of serving the underserved was something that resonated with me strongly as a lack of resources early on in life made the local pharmacist my family’s main point of access to medical care. For this reason, I gained a strong passion to serve the community through SNPhA. Early on, I sought out mentors within the organization. These mentors taught me a great deal about the organization, leadership, and growth. Recently, I got the opportunity to serve on the executive team as our chapters Historian. Working as a part of the executive team has given me insight into this amazing organization at the local level, while allowing me to hone my communication
As I completed the UNSW Professional Development Program , I was invited to apply for a pilot project called ‘NSW Global Scope’ offered by StudyNSW NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet and Sydney-based education services and technology start-up, Intersective during Semester 1 2016.
The artifact is a fundraiser flyer I created using Microsoft Word. The fundraiser was created to not only to unite the school and community but to raise donation for the annual eighth grade field trip to New York City. The document exhibits my proficiency in word art, clip art, and the use of a template. I was able to change front color, outline a border, and insert pictures to the flyer. In creating this fundraiser flyer, I demonstrated that I know how to “contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.”
InTASC Standard #10: The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the professions.
For 15 years, I have experienced the people closest to me tell me I cannot accomplish my educational goal because they were afraid to overcome their fears. My biggest fear is not successfully completing my doctoral journey. However, I am determined to not allow others’ or life’s obstacles to hinder me from succeeding in both my doctoral program or professional goals. The decision to attend Walden University’s DBA program was to further develop my business skill set. As a consultant for a non-profit organization, I could benefit from improving upon my interpersonal skill as an active listener. For example, the importance of how we interpret both the verbal and non-verbal messages sent by others is essential to understanding one another. Enhancing
I write to you seeking admission to the MPA program at NIU. I personally believe that the MPA program at NIU is an excellent stepping stone for me to take my next step in advancing my professional career. I also believe that the program will allow me to flourish into an upstanding individual in the field of public administration and within local government.
This week during my supervision with my field instructor and I started our discussion, talking about making up my hours, due to an accident I was unable to attend one day I was scheduled . My field instructor stated, making up the hours would not be an issue, especially with the instructor working on Saturday's. We discussing in more detail about the agency's policy/operating procedure, as well as the following: billing, client eligibility restrictions, dictation of client's notes, etc. I will learn more in detail and hands on regarding the various intricacies of the agency as the week's progress.
My artifact is a welcome letter used during my summer practicum experience, and a journal used during my student teaching experience. The welcome letter introduces my students’ family to my classroom. The letter also alerts families about what students will be learning during the summer program as well as some requirements of the program such as, a nut free lunch. The journal states my experience during report conferences.
