A portfolio is an organized, purposeful compilation of evidence documenting a child’s development and learning over time (McAfee, Leong, & Bodrova, 2016, p. 98). I thin k that implementing the Portfolio Plan would definitely contribute to the knowledge that I have already learned from my observation of Camden. After interviewing her mother and observing her, she seems to already be on a good path in her development and learning. I believe that some of the things that I have planned out on the Portfolio Plan would be very beneficial for her.
The first assignment as a part of CIU111, is to build an online presence, or more specifically a portfolio website. Such a website is designed to showcase one's work, skills, and inclinations, and is a factor that is regularly taken into consideration by hiring managers (Smith, 2013). And being as I am, a film student, on the path towards entering a market as competitive as the creative industry, a portfolio becomes all the more important when marketing yourself to prospective employers.
Of the various assignments completed in this portfolio, four of them were the most meaningful to me. The “First

This portfolio has show my progress in many different ways. The biggest way is my rhetorical knowledge has been increased because of the sources we have had to read especially in this last unit when we had to use the UW database. The scholarly articles and journals pushed my reading and analyzing to the limit, but it really helped me for the future. Because of my ability to analyze the sources well, it has helped me increase my writing, because I have been able to really find good credible quotes to use within my work.

Reflection: Think about what type of portfolio you desire. Do not rush at this step because the more time you spend at this first step, the easier your job will be to effectively complete. Questions like: Is my portfolio for a potential employer?; Is my portfolio for my family to view?; or Is my portfolio for acceptance in an educational institution? are probing enough to help you to zoom in on what you want to accomplish. Once the vision of your audience is firmly established, you will have a mission statement.
There are number of projects that I could include in my professional portfolio, but I have narrowed it down to three artifacts that I think would stand out. The first artifact that I choose is DD report, which I conducted in intro to motor behaviors class, the second piece is a fact sheet epidemiology and the third piece is a virtual child project from developmental psychology. The reason why I am choosing each of these is because they all are from different departments and areas of study. One project is from my major class, one is from my minor and the last one is from an elective class.
For healthcare professionals it is important to have a portfolio and it is very important to keep it updated. The three portfolios I reviewed were different in the way each person wrote their life stories and their different skills and aspirations. Reading through the three portfolios, there are many different things I liked and I disliked in each of them. Approaching this class, I thought I knew more about writing. It turns out, there were lessons I had yet to learn. I learned a lot more than I had expected. This class taught me the importance of time management, in-depth research, and more. It’s hard to realize what kind of an impact one single class has on an entire field of learning. But making connections with people who are doing the things I want to do in the future, has shown me how important this and every class is.
