The long-term care services delivery system in the United States has changed substantially over the last 30 years . There are approximately 17,000 elderly and disabled persons are receiving care in nursing homes (NNHS, 2004). The number of people using nursing facilities, alternative residential care places, or home care services are projected to increase from 15 million in 2000 to 27 million in 2050 (HHS, 2003). Identifying the best nursing home that would fit their needs can be difficult and time-consuming. Although nursing homes usually provide certain basic care that patients need, some nursing home facilities provides special care for certain types of individuals with special needs. Federal and state ensured that nursing home residents are covered of legal rights- to include privacy, dignity, money, protection from abuse and exploitation, freedom, self-determination, and freedom to exercise their religious, political and sexual practices (Img. 2).
Methodology
Data and sources from this research were mostly based upon secondary data, such as- books, newspaper, website, journals, and indirect observation. Furthermore, this study involved accessing to academic search elite online from different libraries to search different categories of scholarly articles. In addition, various of internet long term care indicator were used to provide more information to this study- Eldercare Locator, Long Term Care Ombudsman, Nursing Home Compare, MEDICARE, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and National Institutes on Aging (NIH).
Conclusion
Effective way to look for the certain nursing home for your love ones can be very frustrating and time consuming. Although quality concerns in nursing home care still exists, persistent research and using different government references could eliminate the time and find the suitable care for your love one. However, penalties, accidents, and how it get solved, that occurs in every facility should be known to public for safety. Future studies in searching for the important factors of nursing care, especially for the quality of life for the elders, who are likely benefit from specific study, should be
