In the course of my time at Union County College, I was able to participate in measures that aided my community and those in need. I took part in the donation and creation of care bags which were donated to the Salvation Army. This initiative was made by AESNJ as part of their statewide drive to help those who lack the resources needed to obtain day to day necessities such as hygienic supplies, socks, tissues and other essentials. Additionally, I made a financial contribution which went towards aiding Syrian children. Helping individuals in need encouraged me to participate in Strides against Breast Cancer a walkathon which generated money for women whose lives were impacted by cancer. There are numerous different challenges that the paramedic will face in attempting to keep an airway patent. These challenges vary from patient to patient depending on their condition. One challenge in keeping a patent airway the paramedic will face is trying to maintain the airway of a trauma patient. Trauma patients make it difficult to maintain an airway due to the traumatic damage, especially if it has affected the face and neck regions.

Our country’s current economic crisis is drastically affecting not just individuals, but businesses and organizations as well, especially when it comes to those that are non-profit. Funding for necessary programs held by non-profit organizations, such as Moses Cone Behavioral Health, have been cut annually, making it more difficult for their institutions to prosper. Due to these substantial declines in donations and funds, local volunteers are needed now more than ever. I chose to volunteer at Moses Cone Behavioral Health Hospital to help combat this loss in funding.

Forty-nine states require licensing.In order to take the entry-level examination for certification, which is required by the National Board for Respiratory Care, respiratory students must get at least an associate's degree and a certificate of completion. Respiratory therapists are licensed in all states except Alaska; requirements vary in different states. Many colleges and universities, vocational–technical institutes, and the Armed Forces offer education and training programs. Most programs will award RT’s with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.All programs have clinical classes that allow therapists to earn credit and gain supervised experience treating patients. According to the American Association for Respiratory Care, there are 381 associate programs throughout the country, 57 bachelor’s degree programs and three master’s programs(home) (business) (explore).

I am very active in this organization and this is reflective of my participation on the Prytanean board for two consecutive years. The first position that I held on this board was Fundraising Chair. Although my primary goal was to raise money for this Womens Honors Society, I was more focused on establishing and maintaining relationships with Davis and Sacramento organizations alike. As a result, I was able to fundraise over $500 through volunteering at various campus events

Not only do I contribute by raising funds, but I also devote my time babysitting the children in the shelter while their parents search for jobs. As many other individuals carry along with their busy schedules, I am still able to manage my time and help out my community. It’s a simple task of devoting a couple hours every so often, but also one that many others fail to take advantage of. It is one in which I do regularly, while most others do not.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a dentist just like my mom. If you ask me what I would want to be now, I would probably tell you a respiratory therapist. I would want to go into any medical field because I love helping others and seeing others progress in their illness and watching them grow as people. I also would want a job that allows me to have contact with people everyday. In this paper, I will be discussing what a respiratory therapist does on an everyday basis, the salary and job demand, and the classes a respiratory therapist has to take.

The graduation rates of nonwhites is significantly lower than whites. Focus on this problem has mainly centered on students who live in urban centers. This higher dropout rate exists in rural areas too. However, graduation rates for rural areas are higher (87%) than in urban (83%; Grierson, 2018). In rural areas, only 77% of nonwhites graduate in four years and in some states like Alaska, graduation rates are half than of the national average. Those who are able to get a high school diploma, only 53% go to college. Again, this rate is similar to the rate of nonwhites in urban centers. The national average of graduation is 69% and upper class students from schools which predominately white attend college at a 72% rate. Further, 48% of young people (ages 18 to 24) from urban areas attend college as compared to 29% from rural populations.

I think respiratory therapist would be good job for me, as I think I would be good for this major as well. I am everything that is necessary of this field, persistent, hardworking willing, and wanting to learn, and wants to improve further in respiratory therapist. The spirit and power it takes to work in medical field I have that, but along with what I was convey to be and want to do make me even more of a positive element to the field.

Over 71% of Euro-American children performed at a higher grade level compared to African American children; these children who tend to live in lower-income families frequently perform worse than middle-class families.
