Irony In Cast Away

"Cast Away" is a fantastic film that has many hidden meanings beneath the surface. Before being analysed, it seems like it's simply about a man who experiences an adventurous journey after his plane crashes into the Pacific. After more thought was put into it, many symbolic meanings that demonstrated his human nature, mainly consisting his drive of survival, faith, hope, and morals, was revealed. I am able to arrive at the conclusion that yes, I do agree with the quote, "Cast Away delivers a strong message of fear, survival, faith and hope."

Change can be scary, but beautiful at the same time. From what I have experienced in my life, change can be both beneficial and harmful. Change can hurt you in many ways, as you could go to place or do things you are not comfortable with. However, sometimes you need to get out of you comfort zone to become a better person, and to experience new things that will change your life. Life can be scary, but at the end it will all pay

Change is something you are probably familiar with. In “Beneath the Smooth Skin of America,” Scott R. Sanders talks about many changes in his life. The author starts the story looking throw the eyes of himself as a child. As a child he remembers that all that was in his sight was all he could see. The author’s best example of this is he says, ”Neighbors often appeared…where they came from I could not imagine” (27). As the author begins to see more by leaving the area he was around so often he starts to see more and more things. He started moving around to different places and started seeing the things that he had not see before. The author points out many things that he began to see like the stores

This movie is about a man (Chuck) who is always kept up on time and how important it is to be and keep track on time. In the movie, Chuck gets stuck on an island and is challenged by nature to survive on the island and later get off the island. Once he finds a way to get the island he is reunited with the real world and has a feeling of gratefulness for everything that he has. He realizes he needs to live every moment like if it was your last. The theme of Cast Away is that there is always a way to survive the difficulties in life whether it may be physical, mental or emotional obstacles. The movie portrays this through symbols, settings and character development.

Change is the act or instance of making or becoming different. How does a person change? Is it based on the individuals around them? Does the way a person is raised change him or her? Throughout the novels of Great Expectations, Snow Falling on Cedars, To Kill a Mockingbird, and the film David Copperfield, change comes in many forms. People mirror the beliefs of those around them.

Change makes you a better version of yourself. When reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer we saw him change for the better and for worse. Just like Tom we need to change in order to be ourselves. Throughout seventh grade I have changed a lot and I know I am not the person I was before but a better version of myself.

Knowing what life will throw at you is not an exciting way to live. People tend to think that they can control every aspect of their life on a day to day basis. Sometimes it is troublesome when people have to go through different issues throughout their day that they did not expect, and people do not know how to accept or understand what is troubling them and why, so therefore, they must find ways to help themselves. But it is true, adaptation and change are inevitable parts of one’s life that people must overcome in order to be successful and happy.

Changes happen all the time. Sometimes people change themselves and sometimes the environment changes them. In Girl in Translation, by Jean Kwok, the protagonist Kim experiences many changes. Kim and her mom immigrated to America in her early ages, they experienced hardships because they owed aunt Paula, the one who brought them into America, an unpayable debt. They were living in a deteriorated apartment with a few presents from aunt Paula, and with roaches and rats running across the rooms. Especially during the cold winter season, they had no heater but an oven which was the thing they depended most upon the to survive, they were having all the activities

Drastic changes are happening to everyone and very few notice them. “No one stays like they are. Everybody is always changing.” There are many things that change people such as physical changes, personality changes, and social relationship changes.

Philosopher Heraclitus once said, “There is nothing permanent in life except change” (retrieved from http://www.ancient.eu/Heraclitus_of_Ephesos/, n.d). The idea of change is in the very nature of being. For everyday is different from the previous day. Things change, they grow, they develop, they die, and something else shows up. Change is a state of transformation that can result in an ultimate shift in the way we perceive and interact in our everyday lives and society. Everything around us is changing with the passage of time. In this short reflection, I will use the Kurt Lewin model of change to outline the important changes that have occurred in my life during the last five years. The events that altered my life were coming to the U.S.,

Change is very personal and if different for each person. Some people embrace change and are willing to move forward with the times, while other may feel too comfortable to move on.

Through life we have so many different obstacles that we face. When people hear the word change they automatically associate it with something that needs to be fixed or something that is wrong that needs to be made right. I am one of those people who does not like change, change makes people uncomfortable it’s a state in your life when you have to come out of your comfort zone to do something for yourself or for others. A change can be a good thing or bad thing but either way it goes it is something different in your life. An unusual situation that makes a person feel uncomfortable. One thing that changed my life was working with trouble youth. Since I was in high school I always knew what I wanted to do. My mother was an educator and taught kindergarten and I just loved the environment of kids and teens.

Whether its your friendship groups, what you do in your spare time, relationships or even cleaning your room, change isn't always bad.

I don't know one person who doesn't want to change something. Even the most habitual person I know wishes that he could stop smoking. But, how does change really happen? The following quote on change says it all.

There are a multitude of different aspects of change. There are some that believe change is terrible, frightening, and challenging to overcome. While others believe, change is correspondingly a positive course of life. For me, the idea of change was incredibly negative. My heart would beat a little faster, clammy palm, and overthinking to the worst scenario was a normal reaction for me regarding change. Until, I was forced to face tremendous life-changing events head on and learn how to deal with change in everyday life.
