This exercise taught me two valuable things. How to read an article critically and actively. It's really easy to summarize written material the way that you see. However, it must be summarized the way the author intended, especially if the written material is completed to read. After writing the summary, I believe it was the Precis that helped me better understand what the author was trying to say.

Communication Competence Effective interpersonal communication has always been a problem for me. This is why I try to improve my communication ability by looking back on the important components that mold my communication skills. In this essay I will reflect on a time I suffered from miscommunication, identify the six elements of interpersonal communication and the elements that caused my miscommunication, I will also come up with a strategy for improving my communication. The last time I suffered from miscommunication was when my big brother whom I live with told me “If you have time, try to do the dishes today.”
