Integrity is a noun meaning the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. We see less and less of this quality being used in our society today. The students at the high school in Piper, Kansas have all greatly abused this quality. The teachers and the school board have also taken this problem and made it a bigger situation. There are far more ways of handling this situation than failing the 28 sophomores at the Piper High School. First, the school board could have taken a different approach to the problem. Second, the parents should have been more worried about their child cheating rather than them failing. Just two simple approaches could make the situation better. The school board and the teacher involved both have reacted to the situation in a way to make the students and parents freak out. They should have taken a different approach and made the children at the high school do something more effective than retaking the class and doing the same thing over with the same project. As a student if I were to have to take a class over I wouldn’t learn right off the bat of the mistakes I made. These …show more content…
They are far more worried about their child failing a class than knowing that they plagiarized. The parents should know that plagiarising is illegal which is far worse than the kids failing a class. The parents should have instead taken a stand and approached their child like an adult. Instead they should have made their child own up to their wrong doing and asked the teacher of what they could do to change that outcome of that course. The kids need to show how they can have integrity and be honest with the school. They are all obviously lacking this quality. The worse part of this situation is the fact that they have made a teacher that absolutely loved her job resign. They should all feel guilty of this so maybe they would try to make the situation better by doing
Integrity is being faithful towards your work. Someone must own up to the workload that college has upon every student within its campus and complete
Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes.
Integrity itself is a term that can describe a person who is undivided in their moral principles. A person with integrity thinks, feels, and acts the same in all external circumstances. As a
Lago Vista Independent School Distict. Gebser and her teacher had a sexual relationship that lasted for almost 2 years. The two were caught in the middle of having relations. The teacher was arrested by the local police department and his license were revoked by the state. Gebser never notified administrators or staff about the relationship between her and the teacher. Her parents tried to file a case on the school district for damages and monetary payment. The court ruled in favor of the school district. This case was very interesting and unique in many ways. I support the decision of the court on no to reward the victim monetary payment. Gebser never tried to notify anyone about the situation, it was more so enjoyment for her. This school district was very proactive and moved very quickly after finding out the
reported it to the school board. The school board pointed their finger at the state. The State Board
Integrity is having a standard of morals and ethics, and living by them. It is a willingness and ability to do the right thing even when it is hard. The story To Kill a Mockingbird is filled with integrity. For example, many of the people in Maycomb share a prejudiced sense of integrity when it comes to its racist views. However, it is Atticus Finch’s integrity throughout the novel that really embodies the idea of moral and ethical principles. He puts into action every moral idea that he supports. Atticus is a role model to not only his children, but to the whole town of Maycomb, and his integrity is a great part of what makes him such a good example. Integrity
What is integrity? This is a very complicated question with a million different ways to answers. Integrity is something that a person can possess. It is something that a structure can possess and it is something that a sport can possess among many other things. When someone is asked if they have integrity the person must think about what qualities are associated with integrity.
I think one way they held their schools accountable would be telling their experiences with the issue. If they weren’t there
The meaning of academic integrity, to me is being able to take pride in the hard work we do. And by that i mean by being honest in our work, and not taking any kinds of short cuts.Because as students here at Wytheville Community College, we are expected to achieve above and beyond. Collage is not meant to be easy we are meant to use our minds and put them to work.It is the time to shine and show them what our generation is made up of and what we can do. To show a good example to our upcoming generations. I feel that one way that students like to take short cuts, is because they can not afford to not get a bad grade . There GPA is more important to them then actually
School districts and educational administrators can look at the reasons for and effects of the APS scandal to apply lessons that will help avoid similar situations within their school district and emphasize a student oriented teaching strategy.
After all, the teachers offered a profuse apology and took measures to ensure that they correct the notion created by the students’ mind by having them visit the Tolerance Museum. To this group opposing the sacking decision, the measures taken to address the issue are already enough and should be enough reason to pardon the teachers involved. While this is a valid point, it has one major problem. As Karin Klein notes in another article, when the San Bernardino Sun first reported the issue, the district’s initial reaction was to defend the assignment. According to the district officials, the move was meant to help “Students to engage in developing critical thinking skills” (Klein). Although these officials later took a different stand, their initial position is a clear indication that they found nothing wrong on how the assignment proceeded. Considering the critical role that the teacher plays in the education system, it is only fair that the concerned authorities step in to ensure that the teachers looking after children are highly trained and adhere to the professional code of ethics. Allowing teachers who have already had questionable character to continue teaching the same children as though nothing happened will pose serious questions on the quality of the education system in
It’s time educators stopped whining and being apologetic! Educators need to learn from their President and become more aggressive and self-promoting. They need to start telling the public what they want and need for them to
Mr.Clark handled the situation in the best possible manner. He did whatever he could to make this school pass the minimum basic skills test. That was his one job when he was appointed to the school. Instead of just telling the teachers to do better with their teaching he focused in all parts of the school program. He made the children of the school actually have a voice. There was no other way that he could have changed the school without being harsh and strict to everyone in the school. I do agree the way that he handled the situation.
Firstly, negligence on the schools part following duty, breach of duty, causation, and injury. The school district has in place a set of procedures that mandate a letter home and a phone call to the parents. In this case, only a letter of the suspension was given to go home with the student, which was then thrown away. This is pure incompetency on the part of the staff to fulfill their duty to properly inform the parents of
