My informative speech was on what factors influence access to mental health care facilities in the United States. I spoke on how government access, mental health stigma, and public awareness all affect how people can get proper treatment in mental health care facilities. I described how mental health care facilities include school, hospitals, as well as outpatient centers across the nation. I explained why physical and mental health should be treated equally; not with one type of health having more power over the other. My passion for this topic was driven by my desire to be a therapist in the future. I went into detail how by listening to my speech, they could possibly help a family member or friend in the future. Finally, my preview of the main points did a great job of giving a roadmap into the rest of my speech. I went into each of my three main ideas and talked about what I would be examining within each of them. I made sure not to use any evidence too early or give too much away in the preview. I simply discussed what would be later covered in the coming minutes. An example, one of my points was government involvement. I previewed that I would be discussing the difference between how government at the local and national level affected access and how they differed. While I had a few parts of my speech that were pretty strong, there were three parts that I want to work on before the persuasive speech. These three parts were my tone of voice, my organization, and my conclusion. During almost the entirety of my speech, my tone was close to the same sound. There was only a few short times were my voice sounded enthusiastic. While I was extremely invested in my topic, my voice did not show this. It was not monotone, but I could have sounded more positive, especially at the most important points of my speech.
