My dad had taken my best friend, his brother, and me to a hypnosis show. At the time I thought that hypnotism couldn't be real, and that he pays people to say as he does. He asks for volunteers, and of course my dad’s brother volunteers and is chosen. He then starts following the commands, tapping, snoring, and dancing. Watching a six foot tall, 200 pound man dance in front of hundreds of people may have changed my mind, and unless he was on payroll, hypnosis had to be real. This technique helps practitioners uncover memories of their past lives. By uncovering these memories, you are able to find out why you are the way you are. If you are having trouble in your current life that has no direct cause, the goal is to find out the root cause of the issue from your past life or incarnation. Whether you are strictly religious or not, past life regression helps you gain an awareness that you are more than just a physical body.

In my opinion, the representation of hypnosis in media is exaggerated. In a way, it encompasses the general idea of altering thoughts and perceptions of an individual. However, it significantly embellishes the results. A more accurate way someone would display the results of hypnosis is by altering the daily choices they make, this could include the meals they eat, or smoking. It could also be a change in perspective, which would help with depression, anxiety, or pain management. I have never personally experienced hypnosis, although, I have considered trying it. Is there some sort of truth to hypnosis? Oh yes indeed. I firmly believe that there is some sort of truth attached to hypnosis but generally, it has been exaggerated and overblown by the media. The truth in hypnosis can be seen in the way patients are hypnotized to ease their pain during a period of their depression. These patients tap into their subconscious mind and "address your perception of the event that has caused you to become depressed with the aim to improve your self-esteem, mood and help you gain your independence back" and patients have responded positively which has led me to believe that there is some truth attached to hypnosis and therefore, this can and also shows a more accurate representation of hypnotization.
