The industrial revolution was an important step for England and the other countries in Europe in the 19th century. It has been debated that the industrial revolution had either a positive or a negative effect on the general public in England, but that depends the on the type of people you ask. During this time the rise of railroads was coming to power due the new invention of the steam engine which made the locomotive efficient. This allowed the spread of railroads to be built all around the country to make transportation easier and faster, this allowed people to move products from the factories from point A to point B easier and faster which made things more efficient. With all the railroads being built it helped the general public because …show more content…
In document 5 (Source: Edward ChadWick) it states that the lower class workers were underpaid and that the wages they received wasn't enough because they were getting under paid. That a lower class worker could not be able to live a long and healthy life span due to the lowe wages they were getting paid and with that in mind the workers wouldn't have enough money to afford a clean and sanitized house with essential utilities to live a clean, healthy life. The workers who worked in the factories would be succumbed to horrible and unjust treatment and unsafe, unsanitary conditions. In document 6 (Source: Joseph Hebergam-interview by Michael Sandler and his House of Commons Committee on 7th July, 1832), The Interview reveals on how bad the conditions for the workers were, and how they were beaten and how they overworked them each day. Joseph states that he started working in a factory at the age seven like most other children at the time would start to work, that he would have to work from five in the morning till eight at night and having only one, thirty minute lunch break at noon. Like most factories and mills at the time these workers would be worked all day long which would cause health issue giving them pain in the arms and legs due to them being over worked, and most of the times the workers wouldn’t
The Industrial Revolution began in England during the 18th Century. This revolution started out in England, and spread throughout Europe and North America. Many technologic and agricultural advances were made during this time. Factories became the main source of production, rather than in home workers. This resulted in many people living in rural areas to move into industrialized cities, which was called rural to urban migration. The Industrial Revolution started in England due to its supply of natural resources, advanced technology and inventions, and political freedom.
The industrial revolution began in the 17th century and made significant change in the world. An era was over and the new one was beginning. The revolution has advantages and disadvantages. Rising of living standards, improving of health, lifetime and trade system are its advantages. On the other hand, manufacturing has caused major problems such as deforestation, excessive use of fossil fuel sources, irresponsible industrialisation and agricultural development. These changes have increased world’s atmospheric concentration of water vapour, CO2, CH4 and other gases (Stocker, 2013). These gases capture part of energy receiving from sun and trap this heat inside atmosphere that causes rising temperatures on the earth’s surface. Naturally, for continuation of life these gases are necessary, but result of the human events these gases has produced more than plants and environment need (Robins, 2016). Also, we call them Green Houses Gases because they have the similar effect like the ‘greenhouses’ utilised to increase condition of vegetables.
America had a huge industrial revolution in the late 1800”s. Many changes happened to our great nation, which factored into this. The evidence clearly shows that advancements in new technology, a large wave of immigrants into our country and new views of our government, helped to promote America’s huge industrial growth from the period of 1860-1900.
After the Industrial Revolution spread throughout Europe and America, it only started in Japan during the 1880s. The Industrial Revolution was a time where farms changed to factories . Due to the rule at that time that didn't allow them to follow after Europe and America because they didn't want to be in contact with them. After 100 years, Japan finally followed after and making new inventions such as the Spinning Jenny or the Power loom helped create jobs for men and women. Women workers had contributed to textile mills during the Industrial Revolution but factories took advantage of the young girls or women who couldn't read looking for jobs. Throughout the Industrial Revolution, female workers
Ever wonder about how the Industrial Revolution affected Manchester? Manchester had advanced greatly with many factories and new jobs available to the public. Manchester was advanced yet had many flaws. Industrialization brought many negative aspects such as poor living conditions, illnesses, and uncomfortable and overcrowded spaces.
The Second American Industrial Revolution was a time of great social improvements and advances in technology. It was also a time of great turmoil for the workforce and the lower class. Industrialization allowed the growth in gross national product of the United States, which helped improve the economy (doc 1). The period of advancements that dramatically aided in the growth of America occurred between 1780 and 1860. This growth included movement from rural areas to urban areas. In 1870, 70% of the population lived in rural areas, but by 1910, only 54% lived in rural areas (doc 1). The flight from the farmland and the immigration movement overpopulated the cities. It affected both rich and poor, both natives and immigrants. The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution started in the eighteenth century in Britain. There were innovative advances in the society that led to the faster production of goods. Prior to this even started, agriculturists needed to leave their property and urbanize to the urban areas. The main accessible occupation that required job was the frightening industrial facilities. These factories changed the lives of these agriculturalists by making them work numerous hours.
The Industrial revolution was a turnign point on history that altered the ways mankind worked forever. Many countries were affected by the industrial revolution, but England and Japan were two that had a great impact on the world. In England the Industrial Revolution started around 1800s. While in Japan, the Industrial Revolution started around the 1900s. Women inboth places were put through long hours with very little breaks. The smoke the factories put off was very thick and was very bad for the health of the workers. If not for the men, woman, and children working in mills everything would be different today all over the world. Their were many differences between the workers in England and the workers in Japan. The differences can be categorized into four groups: working conditions, gender/age, wage/salary, and background. When looking at the differences you can also see some resemblances between the two places.
In the 17 and 1800s, Europe was reeling from the effects of the Agricultural Revolution and new resources that changed the lives and diets of the poor. Inventions such as the seed drill by Jethro Tull and the spinning jenny by James Hargreaves awakened a desire for even further inventions that would improve the quality of life and make goods even more accessible. As the cottage system was slowly morphing into a factory system, especially Great Britain saw a massive surge in industrialization. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the rapid urban development, as a result of industrialization, led to deplorable living and working conditions for the city’s poor and in conjunction an influx of negative thinking towards the adoption of the factory system
In the 1760s though the 1820’s Britain started to use machines to produce goods instead of doing it by hand mostly, due to the fact that the items were easier to maker, therefore making them cheaper, and improving life. This also spawned, much later though, the digital revolution, which involved using technology, not machinery. The Industrial Revolution transformed the European society by, making busier cities, increasing the population, and polluting the continent.
Revolutions have happened all over the human race. One of the first one was an agricultural revolution going from hunting and gathering to first farming. Then further down the road was more revolutions. The change of government was one during the time of the industrial revolution. The Industrial revolution began in England by the geography of England, the innovation's in England, and the economics were good in England.
When inventors invented machines to make everyday life quicker in England. It was between 1760 and 1840 and brought the city’s jobs and greater trade. The Industrial revolution had a positive impact on there on people lives. It had a positive impact on people’s lives by changes to society, daily life and transportation.
The Industrial Revolution started in the early 19th century. It brought about a wide array of changes, both social and political. Before the invention of machine and the factory system people had to make everything by hand which meant people would make anything they could by hand and buy things they couldn’t make from people who specialized in making the particular thing they needed. The groups of people who specialized in making something were called Guilds and they would take on younger kids and teach them the craft. Working in a guild required skill and were often smaller exclusive groups of people which meant that most people lived out in the country as farmers. But then factories filled with machines started up and suddenly there was a
The most far-reaching, influential transformation of human culture since the advent of agriculture eight or ten thousand years ago, was the industrial revolution of eighteenth century Europe. The consequences of this revolution would change irrevocably human labor, consumption, family structure, social structure, and even the very soul and thoughts of the individual. This revolution involved more than technology; to be sure, there had been industrial "revolutions" throughout European history and non-European history. In Europe, for instance, the twelfth and thirteenth centuries saw an explosion of technological knowledge and a consequent change in production and labor. However, the industrial revolution was more than
The economic elements of the Rise of Industrial America revolved heavily around the big businesses of railroads. Railroads, able to be built just about anywhere, provided faster routes from one location to another. Railroads expanded quickly and by 1880 there were already 93,000 miles of track constructed (Making Money the Old Fashioned Way: The Railroads). They were also more convenient compared to past transportation such as rivers and canals that were likely to freeze under cold conditions. “The quicker and cheaper transportation offered by the railroad benefited the national economy” (Keene, 476). The railroad system also contributed to economic growth by utilizing considerable amounts of iron, steel, coal, and wood. Provided that railroad
