Cyberbullying can easily be started by just making fun of someone and continuing to something more serious. People think that making a joke online is funny, but little do they know it can really affect someone. As teens, we do not fully think before typing something online and what seems like no big deal to someone, can be a breaking point for someone else. There are many movies that talk about cyberbullying and it is suppose to spread awareness about this kind of bullying. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.” (Bullying and Suicide). Many teenagers who are going through cyberbullying do not reach out and ask for help from peers, causing them to keep all of their emotions inside. This research shows that bullying may harm countless people under the age of eighteen who use the media. Although due to this increase with devices, such as phones and computers, people tend to cyberbully since it’s the easiest way to gain the victim. Cyberbullying is an act of bullying through devices, threatening or humiliating the victim that is being communicated to. This causes harm to those who fall victim, around twenty percent of these victims tend to think of suicide, and one of ten often commit the act. Due to cyberbullying, school officials should help stand for those deteriorating as a victim, this will then help prevent suicidal acts, suppress depression, and help improve teens to be more cooperative with others in the same situations.

Since the invention of the internet in 1983 and the invention of social media in 1997 the way people live their lives and communicate with each other has changed drastically. While it is only about 37 percent of the population using the internet the changes that social media and the internet has brought has had both positive and negative impacts on society as a whole. The positive changes which social media and the internet has brought ranges from making it easier for people to communicate to each other to making it much easier for the public to access educational content such as videos, newspaper articles, and books.
