I am writing this essay is because I did not follow orders and was not at the correct place of duty at the correct time. On Friday 11Aug17 Charlie Company had PT at Barton field so people could take their PT test. I was sent a text message from my squad leader, SPC Walton, the night prior saying that we are meeting at Barton field at 0435 for Pt. I set my alarm not realizing that I accidentally set my alarm for a non PT day and went to sleep. I received a call from SPC Walton at 0443 asking where I was so I panicked and drove there immediately. Upon arriving at 0451 the people who were taking the PT test had already fallen out to prepare for their test and First SGT Keen and SSG Newell were taking to the 270 above group. After talking to them SSG Newell asked why I was late to formation and then sent me to go conduct PT with the rest of the company. …show more content…

Being late on the other hand is taking time from others as well as disrespectful to your peers and NCO who sets the hit time. Being on time is something that everyone in the military was taught from day one in Basic Training and should be instilled inside the soldier from that day on. Just like everyone says “All you have to do is be in the right place at the right time in the right uniform.” Dependable soldiers show up at least 10 minutes prior to the hit time given by our NCO because in the real army that’s the standard and there’s no room for error. People not showing up on time are probably one of the reasons why we had several Saturday formations and early hit times to the PNC. Most of us are approaching one year in the military so showing up late in not acceptable at this
