Hsc Personal Statement

I am passionate about working in a primary school to support the education and welfare of pupils and families.

The invaluable skills that I have gained and learned through my after school clubs, Future Business Leaders of America, (FBLA) and National Honor Society( NHS), has stirred up a desire in me to help my community and to make a difference in the lives of people, by majoring in the Public Health field. Through Public Health, I will help those in my community at large to live healthy lives; mentally, socially, physically and culturally. Healthcare is an essential need in life and is a great field that would allow me to make a difference.

For almost half a decade HOSA has provided students the gateway for to develop leadership and technical skills in healthcare. For many, HOSA has allowed them to achieve their full potential and interact with people who share their same interests. HOSA has given me many opportunities, from national competition where I was able to study current health issues and interact with HOSA members from around the world to the fall leadership conference where I have been able to improve my leadership and communication skills. HOSA has given me countless opportunities, and now I want to give back. Becoming a HOSA state officer will allow me to give back to my fellow members by helping them to achieve their own personal interests in HOSA. I want to apply my experience as a leader and involvement in my community during my time as a HOSA state officer to help members fulfill their personal goals and the mission

This school year, I want to get more involved with clubs and athletics that interest me. I am in HOSA and Student Government; which I would like to run for a office in Student Government at the end of the school year. I was also apart of the football and basketball teams and I am also going to try to be on the track team. Furthermore, as the year progresses, I want to receive all A's in my classes (have succeeded so far). In English this year I am going to further my reading and writing skills. To do so, I will need to practice these skills continuously which I feel that I can accomplish.

Everyone has a dream or something they want to follow in life. Some want material gain while others want to help as many people as they can. I’m not saying wanting material gain is a bad thing, but what I am saying is that for me, money is not the number one concern when my dream is to help others. My hunger to help others only grows by the day. Because of what’s going on in the world we live in today, I believe that it is important that those who are less fortunate than others have the assistance they need to get to an even playing field, health-wise, with others.

Hello, I am Qwontanney Major, a lover of music, old and current, photography, film, fashion, and food. I am 19 years old, and the second oldest of five children. We were all raised by my mother, and recently reconnected with our father. My family on my mothers’ side comes from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Port-au-Prince Delmas 36, Haiti, and my family on my fathers’ side comes from Freeport, Bahamas.

The HLLC community not only provides students with accommodations of residential living but it rewards students with the opportunity to enhance their leadership capabilities and teamwork talents. By being a member of the HLLC community I will be guided as student but shaped into a student leader. I will be able to learn about the right ways of approaching and bringing awareness to social issues, An example in which would be my passion to increase cleanliness and education around the globe. From the day I got my appendix removed in 7th grade, I knew that becoming a medical professional was my calling. Although the road to becoming a medical professional is a long, tiring, and difficult one, I believe that I will be able to conquer it. Throughout high school I was lucky enough to participate in a school organization of HOSA, which not only helped me in my decision to become a health care professional, but also allowed me to grow and learn as a leader over the last couple of years. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health occupations education students, therefore, helping the students to meet the needs of the health care industry. Being an active member of HOSA for all four years of high school has been quite an experience.

To begin, I feel that I am a diligent and respectful student, and with that being so I hope that you consider me a great candidate for the NHS program. Also, I believe that with this and my many other combined qualities that I will be offered membership in this amazing program.

My aim is to pursue a job in the quality improvement department. I realize that when I am in this position, I should ensure the institution is in compliance with the recommended quality standards of the accrediting bodies. This is a team effort that needs the participation of all the employees. Hence, I would encourage the teamwork of the staff to achieve this goal. I would provide the clear idea about the goals and the timeframe to meet it. I am driven by my ambitions and thrive to learn not only to educate myself, but to use my knowledge to educate others. Learning is not always associated with school; we learn things through experiences, mistakes, life lessons, people around us, and most importantly ourselves. In life I aspire to become a neurosurgeon like Dr. Ben Carson who has truly inspired me in various ways, and have what is called "Healing Hands". My favorite quote is from his mother, "You can do anything anybody else can do, except you can do it better." I carry these words with me every single day, with ever decision I make. One of my main goals in life is to visit Africa and build schools and manage a hospital so children in the area will receive a proper education, as well as a proper care. I am interested to major in HDFR because I have worked with many different deaf children, which I find myself enjoying working with them as they all come from different backgrounds. As a deaf individual, I understand their struggle which I want to able to help and guide them throughout the transition to become a successful independent adult.

Management as it relates to the health services realm requires a deep understanding of coordinating the delivery of healthcare. One must be able to utilize frameworks to recognize and develop solutions to challenges within managing healthcare. My desire to become a health services manager (HSM) spawns directly from this concept of identifying an issue and being able to present interventions and approaches to improve the overall quality of life for communities.
