Many kids around the world think that schools should ban homework. I think that homework is not benifical for students who don’t need it. Why? One, sometimes not necassary homework can cause stress on kids wich could lead to health issuses. Two, when homework isn’t benifical for students it takes away time from other important things. In the article,“Homework Could Have An Impact On Kids Health”, acorrding to the author when kids get stressed out on their homework or when kids give up on their homework it leads to arrguing with parents and then leads to a bad night of sleep wich highly leads to bad grades. Thease things might be what happens to you everyday, and if it is what happens to you everyday then it probobly annoys you and makes
Is it really worth students’ time? Homework takes away from family time, encourages cheating and takes away time for relaxation. The banning of homework will allow more time with family, not encourage cheating and allow time for relaxation. Teachers should give assignments during class. Homework takes too much time away from students spending time with their families. The banning of homework can get rid of cheating because students don’t feel like they have to cheat to get a good grade on it. The banning of homework would help a student relax after school. To conclude, if teachers got rid of homework there would be several benefits.
However, I still believe that the school should stop homework from being assigned and this is why. In source 3 "Down with Homework", it reads that studies show how homework isn't the cause of a higher grade score or academics of a student. This is because there is no support that homework helps with students of a small age.
Across the world, children and teens do homework after school. Many people expect homework to be a healthy educational learning tool, but is it really? No, I believe homework is something we need to get rid of. Instead of making it easier to learn, it is creating stress and medical issues with students, finally, it doesn’t affect academic success. Why exactly?
Heavy loads of homework can be shown more as harmful than good, not only for students but also for their families. As shown in Source B it says, “It is the primary arena in which children, parents and schools interact on a daily basis” (Gill and Schossman). Which I can totally disagree with from my experience, stating that every time I come from school to home, I always have to go straight to my room, turn my computer on, and either work on essays or have to search up problems for my algebra assignments, or just information for any class in general, which takes up a whole day of my life. Another reason is it is very time consuming! These homeworks are always getting in my way of either having activities after school or just time to spend with my family, which I hardly ever have a chance to do because of all the work I have, and might I also state that my mom is always worrying about my health since I usually don’t have time to eat too, also she is always asking me if I have time to read the bible with my siblings and father, which I automatically have to state I can’t because again of all this work. Another statement I have is how homework is mainly useless to our education, grabbing information from Source F, “Kids who wouldn’t dream of cheating on a test or copying a research paper think nothing of copying homework” (Chaika). Since doing homework is just such a waste for us we usually just copy it either from other people or from the internet, and since math class usually just gives a packet about what is going to be on the quiz, we end up using that to study which ends up being more helpful for the upcoming test rather than doing
Students should not get homework. If students don't have homework then their free i think students should not get homework because their hands get tired easily and they also give up on doing homework.
Homework should not be in schools for many reasons, mostly because we do six hours of school and then we have to do more work after school. What is the point of homework if you don’t learn anything from it? Doing homework is a great thing to do if you have no friends and want to stay home allday everyday, which by the way no one wants to do.
In the article “as homework grows so do arguments against it,” it quotes that students in Elementary school get no benefit from homework. It is important to notice this because they tend to give quite a bit of homework in Elementary and if it doesn’t have a benefit it means they are wasting students time. In fact, the previous article also suggest that “High Schoolers have no academic benefit after 2 hour of studying/homework.” This is significant because it means that even the oldest of students only benefit from 2 hour or less. Additionally, Robert Marzano’s research shows that the amount of homework and students academic success do not match up. Therefore, homework does not help students with learning benefits whatsoever. However you may say homework has a huge discipline benefit for students, but that is countered as research from Robert Marzano also shows that homework fails to show effectiveness as an instructional tool. This is important because it shows that it is not beneficial for education and discipline. The lack of educational value is another reason why homework is not
Kids today have too much stressful homework. Due to the increasing amount of difficult homework, the age level of kids getting stressed is becoming lower. The homework kids have to do today can exceed to 3 or 4 hours which can affect their sleep cycle. The more homework children have, the less time they’re outside making them lazier. Kids should have less difficult homework to reduce levels of stress and other health problems.
Most students are probably thinking “no homework is stupid” . But, believe it or not, homework is good for you. Homework creates a bridge between school and home. Homework allows your parents to keep up with what you're doing in class. Studying is also another form of homework. In fact, according to “Is Homework Good For Kids?” it states that “Children should spend time studying each day, even if they don't have any homework” (Reilly 1). Even though some kids may say that homework doesn't leave them enough time to do other things at home, they should still receive it because it can help them practice what they are learning, develop work ethic skills, and learn time management.
Kids should get less homework, because it has very little benefits and is a waste of time. Homework is not necessary for several following reasons. First off homework limits family time for the students. Students do better in school without homework. Homework has hardly any effect or benefits on young students.
Although adults and kids may say homework is good for kids it is argued that it can be bad. It can give kids anxiety and more stress secondly homework only benefits certain kids so why should we do homework if it does not benefits us. We also do a lot of work in school as it is that is why we should not have any more homework.
Imagine yourself stressed so much that you can't pay attention or focus on your teacher, so when you get your assignment you have no idea what to do. Reasoning is because you're still worrying about the five other classes you have homework in as well. A standard researcher found that students in high-achieving communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance and even alienation from society. More than an hour of homework a night may be counterproductive, according to the study. The researchers asked students whether they experienced physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, weight loss, and stomach problems. More than 80 percent of students reported having at least one stress-related symptom in the past month, and 44 percent said they had experienced three or more symptoms. The researchers also found that spending too much time on homework meant that students were not meeting their developmental needs or cultivating other critical life skills. Students were more likely to forgo activities, stop seeing friends or family, and not participate in hobbies. Many students felt forced or obligated to choose homework over developing other talents or skills.
Students, parents, teachers, administrators and other interested parties all seem to have strong and different feelings towards homework. Students complain that they have too much homework to complete outside of the hours they already attended classes. Students feel that they have personal lives to live and blow off homework while some parents and teachers believe that homework is the key to passing classes and preparation for college. This leads to teachers feeling pressured to push their students to succeed and this can easily get carried away. Parents and school systems still often discuss the topic of homework today. Should homework in school systems be stopped?
Homework, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Does homework truly have a positive effect on improving student achievement? Homework is the task assigned by a teacher to a student to be completed outside of the classroom. Homework can range from reading a story, writing or typing research, solving math problems, or a project. Teachers assign these task in order for the student to increase their knowledge on the topic at hand. Parents, at least most of them, agree that homework needs to be done in order to improve student achievement; however, most student do not like the task, nor do they see the relationship between homework and increased student achievement.
The word “stress” usually has a negative connotation when it is brought up, however, there is such thing as healthy stress. According to the APA, stress is our body’s natural alarm system that helps us prepare for “fight or flight” situations, but when this stress is prolonged it can become chronic stress (6). An example of a situation when natural stress occurs is when we are faced with a natural predator. Our body must make the decision to either stay and fight against the predator or prepare itself to run away. In a study done by NYU, a prestigious creditable university, it was found that chronic stress is growing among many young students to the point where their health is put at risk because of the amount of homework assigned. The study also shows that the chronic stress translates into their college years and can cause long-lasting problems as they become adults (6). More than half of the students in a study done by Denise Pope, an education scholar at Stanford, stated that homework was the main cause of stress they experienced. With homework causing this much stress on multiple
