Health Information Management Personal Statement

By obtaining a degree in Healthcare Management I will develop a set of skills that will increase my knowledge in healthcare overall and contribute to the growth of Bioscrip in meeting its goals. To name a few of these skills I will possess is management , finance, accounting, healthcare systems in being able to incorporate document management procedures and techniques, as well as risk management. These skills will be applied in areas of Bioscrip such as Intake, Reimbursement and Finance.

Time flows like a river and you find yourself not thinking the way you used to as a child. As I grew older, my dreams and goals changed as well as my mindset on how to achieve those aspirations. Mercyhurst University’s Public Health Program is the main step toward helping me achieve my career goal of becoming a Registered Health Information Technician. I’d like to define success as many achievements and accomplishments, as well as the coming of knowledge for that which was unknown to one’s self. Therefore, there should never be an ending to a success story. It was when I graduated as a medical assistant that sparked the realization to what field I was most interested in.

In summary my goal is to remain with Aetna as I see a vast amount of opportunities in the health care field. My Master’s degree will foster additional opportunities to me. I am a new student member with ACHE and NAHSE. Both organizations have shown me the need for healthcare executives and the future of the health care

I will pursue a career in Long Term Care Administration because it is essential that facilities

My qualifications include 10 years of healthcare and business administration experience. Also of note is my accomplishment as an undergraduate in Health Care Management. In which, I expect to serve as a leader in the management of healthcare and related services. For the past several years, I have researched on and coordinated projects

My acceptance into the Health Professions Academy has been an outstanding accomplishment Which has granted me many oppurtunities.

1. After completing a semester of field education, what are three reasons you would like to pursue a career in social work: a. One reason I learned that I want to became a social worker after our first semester is that it is a diverse career. My background and passion in life has always been working with the elderly population however, I accepted a position at DHHS working with foster care and child protective services. Knowing that this would make me more diverse and knowledge in different ways to future employers and for me. b. Another reason why I would like to pursue a career in social work is that it is challenging.

My name is Dorlie Leandre and for as long as I can remember I wanted to be in the medical field. My passion for biology is the reason why I chose to pursue a career in medicine. In June 2014, I became a licensed Respiratory Therapist in NYS. I’ve been working as a full time Respiratory Therapist at Montefiore Medical Center for almost three years. I also work per diem at a nursing home. When I’m not at work, I enjoy cooking, traveling and most importantly sleeping. I’m currently enrolled at NYCCT, pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration (HSA).

The current field that is in is the Healthcare field and I’m currently seeking my associate Degree in Healthcare Management. My goal is to keep going to school until I obtain my master degree in Healthcare. I want to continue to become knowledgeable in all the aspect of healthcare so I will be able to obtain a stable career. I feel like by me doing this will always open new doors and jobs for where I will be able to use my knowledge within my field because the healthcare field is currently growing each and every day and to be honest I don’t think it will never end at

The program I wish to have been enrolled in and graduate from is Alvernia’s online Health administration program. It is a 123-credit program with 37 credits being specific in Business and 26 credits in Healthcare, and the remaining credits in liberal arts (Alvernia). Since I will have an associate degree after graduation, I anticipate most of my credits will transfer, which would then lead to less credits needed to obtain my bachelors. This program will qualify me to work in healthcare, corporate, or federal agencies (Alvernia). I would be able to work as a: hospital and nursing home administration, practice manager, director of operations, personal care home and assisted living manager, billing manager and health insurance claims manager (Alvernia). While enrolled in a bachelors’ program, I plan on being employed with a full-time job. Through applying for a full-time position at Reading Health System or other facilities with a full-time position open. This will be a heavy work load for me, but I believe I would be able to manage it. I worked through my high school and Medical Imaging education. Completing my bachelor degree will also be another financial responsibility which is why I would prefer to be employed full-time. By this time, I would have had to complete two separate- 24 continuing education credits and renewed my certification and registration

Earning this graduate degree would mean more than just an education, an achieved aspiration, or a possible job promotion. This degree would give me the components to be a better leader in the healthcare community. It would provide me the opportunity to becoming an administrator while promoting the challenges that are occurring with the ever evolving healthcare field. Learning to be a successful leader and directing a diverse organization does come with challenges but this degree will set up a platform that will teach me how to effectively apply values and principles that not only shoulder change but encourage it in our healthcare community.

After completing the bachelor program, my plan is to continue on to a Master Degree Level with an emphasis in Health Information/Informatics so that I may pursue a role in Data Analysis/Integrity or as a Clinical Documentation Specialist. My passion leads me to find the root cause of every issue and find ways to incorporate teamwork into implementing solutions. I believe empowering those around me, promotes a collaborative work environment as well as teaching and fostering team members to grow.

My academic interest is geared towards pursuing a master degree in the field of biomedical informatics with a view to becoming a problem solver and a major contributor to new discoveries in the field. I would like to pursue a career in research, development and teaching of methodologies, processes and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of information flow as well as usage in the healthcare setting. I would like the output of my work and research to have significant influence towards improving patient care outcomes whilst reducing information costs in the entire healthcare system.

My goal is to have a career in health care management. While researching careers, I discovered health care management. I choose health care management as my career option for two reasons. I’m looking for a career where I can do what I passionate about and impact lives. These are important factor in my career choice. Health care management met my two requirements and at that point I knew this was the career for me. I firmly believe that any career I pursue should be one that I’m passionate about. One of my passions is helping others. Health care managers help patients just as much as doctors, nurses and other clinical professionals. For me it’s very imperative that I find a career were I would have impact the lives of others. This would ensure that I’m fulfilling one of my purposes in life. My interest for public health stems from the need to aid numerous people in disease and injury prevention, health protection, and strategies for health promotion. I hope to earn a Master of Public Health with a focus in the area of health care management as well as hospital administration in relation to public health policy development and education. I aspire to develop enhanced intervention policies that can provide the population with direct access to primary health care due to public health preparedness education and strategic planning.
