At this point, Marcus has gathered enough courage to tell his parents about everything that he has been through and is now open to tell Barbara Stratford, a newspaper reporter for the Bay Guardian, known for her intense and deep investigations in her work. The speech tells us that terrorist had attacked Americans, and it left many dead and injured. It tells us that people on the airplane, in the building, people going in to save lives, moms, dads, friends, and other family members had been trapped in that building. Many people outside of the Twin Towers caught the airplane in action hitting the building, this leaving American’s scared for their lives.

Firefighters and policemen struggled to get the sufferers out of the building safely. Some went up the treacherous flight of stairs to gather people still holding on by a limb, and never came back down. Soon we were informed about a plane crashing into the Pentagon. And Two other flights brought down due to lost control. None of these incidents were accidents. They were all coordinated by Al-Qaeda. The objective of the attack was to raise fear in America’s eyes and to invoke terror. And ultimately demonstrate we’re not as powerful, and untouchable as we thought. As a result of this nationwide scare, we now experience mass amounts of racial profiling. Also, airport security processing will never be the same again. Finally, the growing presence of fear and threat of terror in the United States of America. Conclusively, thousands of lives were ripped away and the lives of those still living during this time, forever

The September 11th terrorist attacks brought fear and anger to all Americans. People of all races did not know how to react to such a horrific tragedy. After these attacks were carried, former President George W. Bush declared a “War on Terror”. While this was happening Muslims in the U.S were in the middle of this issue. The War on Terror was focused on Muslim Citizens in the U.S due to media outlets and many people criticizing all people that are Muslims are radicals. With all said The Patriot Act was passed which many criticized because it was argued conflicted personal liberties and public discussion. George W. Bush praised the act for making America safer. However, it was a plan targeted primarily at Muslims and Arabs . Like American governments have done in the past acts like the Espionage and Sedition Act this is another one of acts that aim to target one group . “War on Terror” was not only declared on the real terrorists of Al Qaeda but it was also declared on many Muslims in the United States with the passing of the Patriot Act. Under these circumstances people’s rights are taken away and citizens and non citizens who are Muslims would be mostly of focused upon. It would give states the right to hold and investigate suspected terrorists with insufficient evidence .The Patriot Act affects people rights, goes against the Constitution and can invade people’s privacy by targeting one group and not given the rights people of the American government deserve.

America came under attack on September 11, 2001, at the hands of terrorists taking aim at the American psyche by taking down two iconic pillars that represented decades of financial success of America’s free market society. The attack left families, friends, and the nation grieving for those who perished in the collapse of the twin towers and for those first responders who risked their lives to save them. September 11, 2001 is known to be one of the most devastating days in history. To this day, September 11 has been the largest terrorist attack in the United States with 2,996 deaths and over 6,000 wounded. They not only crashed the Twin Towers but the crashed them with our planes. Due to the crash, it “...resulted in a dramatic change in our nation’s attitudes and concerns about safety and vigilance” (Green, 2016). The impact left behind after the attack changed the United States tremendously. Although there were many dramatic impacts that followed the crash, I found two in which seemed to have the biggest impact on the United States. Surveillance has increased tremendously since the crash resulting in the loss of privacy rights. Imagine being surrounded by dust and fire, the sound of explosions in the distance, along with people screaming names of friends and family members. Many people remember where they were, what they were doing, and how they reacted to the news of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Questions running through people’s minds would be who was responsible for this, and how could we let something this dreadful happen to this great nation of ours. About 14 years ago the United States was not involved in any type of war, believe it or not, ISIS did not exist, and people were not aware of the Islamic terrorist group, al-Qaeda, and their leader Osama bin Laden. The United States’ surveillance state was much smaller than what it is today, and airport security was extremely lenient. Everyone needs to be aware of the implications terrorist attacks have on the daily lives of people worldwide. We also need to know how to stay safe without overreacting and hurting innocent people. People need to be educated on safety, staying away from certain people and places, and reporting suspicious activity, but not use this so much that innocent people are being labeled as terrorists. I believe everyone should know in the future how these attacks changed people’s live and current events globally, by reading about them in future

In the lives of Americans September 11th, 2001 will forever be embedded in our memories. This was the day that international Terrorism first struck America. A day that America’s security was exposed from there on TSA, and Homeland Security was built. I remember before the devastating attacks we were able to walk up to any terminal in the airport and wait for any of our family members board the aircraft.
