Gone by: Michael Grant Book Project #1 Isaac Breon List of events: Sam Temple is sitting in his history class when his teacher disappears into thin air. Sam and his friends, Quinn and Astrid soon realize that it wasn’t just their teacher, but any human being that was the age of 15 or older has disappeared. The town turns quickly turns to a frenzy, when all of the younger kids start roaming the streets looking for their parents. The really young kids, between the ages of 1-9 years-old have absolutely no clue whats going on or where their parents are. Some are crying, and they are absolutely terrified. The older kids think this is just the coolest thing in the world. They can go do whatever they want because their parents aren’t around. Stealing whatever they can get from the stores seems to be what they do the most. Sam, Quinn and Astrid are trying to figure out what is going on. They go to Quinn’s house to find his parents, but they are gone. Next, they go to Astrid’s house. Her parents are also gone, along with her little brother. Finally, the go to Sam’s house. Sam’s mother is also gone, but he finds her diary in her computer that has some interesting things in it that could explain why people have disappeared. Astrid is desperate to find her little brother. She thinks that he could be with his mother at the resort that they stay at. No luck finding the little brother when they get there, but they find something strange when they get there. When they arrive at the
There Are No Children Here is a story of the struggles two preteen boys live with while growing up in the projects. From the first pages the scene is set amongst the all too familiar gun fire blazing through the neighborhood. This story is of eleven year old Lafeyette and nine year old Pharoah dealing with the daily fight for survival in inner-city Chicago circa 1987.
When Gilbert moved back in with his father, why did he become disenfranchised with the American way of life?
“Things will change rapidly in a matter of seconds and no one had any control over anything” (Beah p.29). Long way gone is about the life of Ishmael Beah in which he experienced difficult tasks during a civil war and how it reshaped his life. “One of the unsettling things about my journey, mentally, physically, and emotionally, was that I wasn’t sure when or where it was going to end. I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life” (Beah p.69) I recommend reading this book because it is based on real life events, it captures your attention and gives you a life lesson.
On September 24, 1983, Sabrina Buie, went to a convenience store near her house to buy her mother a soda; however she never came home that night. The girl’s family started to worry but decided to wait for sometimes. A day later, sensing that something had gone wrong, the girl’s father, Ronnie Buie, reported to police that his 11-years-old daughter was missing. The police opened a report of a missing child with the help of the family’s town, Red Springs, asking for any information about Sabrina’s whereabout on the day of missing. A small town of 3000 people began to wonder what could happen to Sabrina?
Their mother comes out of the house, “When she saw me, her face fell. She scolded the kids as if that was what she’d come for. ‘I told you not to bother the
The best way to get a four spot on the Billboard Hot 100, is by rapping about something everyone will go through, a heartbreak. That is what Kanye West did in “Heartless,” a song about a heartbreak he went through with former fiancee Alexis Phifer. The song debuted as a single but was later put on his 808s & Heartbreaks album. The song explains nearly everything about his relationship. They both made mistakes, but she’d act as if hers were minor. That is why he states, “I’m gonna take of tonight.” He emphasizes the word tonight, to prove he is exhausted and wants to be taken seriously. But he then argues himself by asking why they always end up late night on the phone. Which proves who is the intended audience. Simply, anyone that has gone through something similar, sometimes ends up on the phone with them late night with remorse. West’s tone in is angry in this song. He was tired of his ex-fiancee, who left him at his lowest point. When his mother had passed away just months before he was finished working on this album. Both of the women that he loved the most have left his life, in an instant. Kanye just began working on his music as a way to overlook the trials set ahead of him. He released this song and it was only the second time he used auto tune. Apparently auto tune can get you a 5x platinum record, mind that’s five million sales.
Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. “And when it had gotten really bad, when those adults who’d gotten sick but hadn’t died had started to turn on the kids, attacking them like wild animals,” (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This causes
My prediction is that Sam, Astrid, and Quinn will be the people that everyone looks up to. Sam, Astrid, and Quinn are some of the oldest ones that they know of so they would look up to the older cause they are more responsible. When two boys yelled that they where going to break into the candy machine when everyone found out that the parents where gone Sam told them that that might not be a good idea, because we do not know if they really are gone. That shows that Sam is trying to take control so everyone do not get in trouble. Sam, Astrid, and Quinn explore the school, their homes, and the town to see exactly who is still here and what is going on, so they are gathering knowledge on what is happening. This shows that they are trying to find

Gone is a book written by Michael Grant that more people should read. I strongly believe that this book series does not get enough attention for how good it is. For the purpose of this essay, I will draw on three different examples to demonstrate why this book should be read more and why it is important to our society, the first being a great plot that flows well over the course of six books, the second being cultural recognition issues within the PoC (People of Colour) and LGBT+ communities, and the third being well written and developed characters . Through exploring these ideas, I will demonstrate why Gone is an important book to read.
Another child is reported missing. Angie stayed obsessed with Amanda’s disappearance even though no new leads were given. She pored over their case files; desperately searching for something they missed. This new disappearance restores Angie and Patrick’s vigor for finding Amanda. The story begins on the Southside of Chicago on forty-four forty-four State Street, apartment 1505, inside of a public housing project. The seven siblings of Victoria all resided inside the three bed room apartment, cramped for space and privacy the children had no choice but to be close. Every morning Victoria oldest brother would walk them to school and home. At that point in history there was a radio DJ who created a fictional character to tell children that if they did not report straight home from school, then a monster who lurked in the top of trees would come and attack them, these character was named the gym shoe creeper or wahwhoo man. My grandmother then went on to tell other memories of her child hood such as her oldest sister making
