“For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo”, was said in the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. This classic Shakespearean tragedy would not live up to its name, if Friar Lawrence had not caused the deaths of these two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. He had created the secret plans and gave most of the advice in the play, he did not check if the plans worked and he was worried about getting caught throughout the play after helping either Romeo or Juliet. This proves that Friar Lawrence is the cause for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

Who is responsible for the “pair of star-crossed lovers who take their life”(Romeo and Juliet, Prologue) and cause many more to lose their life? “Romeo and Juliet” is a Shakespeare play written around 1597 in Verona, Italy. Romeo and Juliet fall in love, but the love ended in tragedy. One would believe that a few people caused Romeo and Juliet's death. The three characters are Friar Lawrence, Juliet Capulet, and Friar John.

Another person who is responsible for the death of Romeo can also be blamed on Friar Lawrence, the priest who marries Romeo and Juliet. He gives Juliet a potion that makes her seem dead without consulting Romeo, and everything disastrous that could happen begins falls into place from there. Friar Lawrence says to Juliet:

Friar Laurence is the one to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. The reason Friar Laurence is the one to blame it because first, Friar Laurence married Romeo and Juliet, while knowing that they would have to face a lot of problems and persecution. Second, Friar Laurence make Juliet fakes her death so she wouldn’t have to get married with Paris. That also will have led to Romeo and Juliet death.

In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there were many people that played important roles, but one would think that Friar’s role was the most important. In the play Romeo and Juliet meet Friar Lawrence. He is a priest that lives on the outskirts of Verona and he is always there to give a helping hand. Romeo first met him when he was going to ask Friar to marry him and Juliet. From there through the rest of the play he has always been someone to give support to Romeo and Juliet.

One goal I have set for next year as a sophomore is to improve my skills of listening. As an alive listener, listening is a skill that is important for any academic class. Although I consider myself a decent listener I still do not believe I have become a very good one yet. Some aspects of being an alive student were seen in the books we read this year. One such character who is a model alive listener is Friar Lawrence from Romeo and Juliet.

Friar Lawrence is the most to blame for the events that occur in Romeo and Juliet because he gave Juliet a sleeping potion which lead to a lot of people's death including Romeo and Juliets. When Juliet was seeking advice and confirmation from Friar Lawrence he advised her,

Friar Lawrence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he marries Romeo and Juliet in secret , involvement in Juliet’s fake death, and doesn’t follow up on his plans. Friar Lawrence shouldn't have married Romeo and Juliet because he knew their families are enemies and that Romeo has suddenly fallen in love with Juliet overnight. Romeo and Juliet belongs to two families that fight “Thy love did read by rote, that could not spell./But come, young waverer, come, go with me,/In one respect I’ll thy assistant be,/For this alliance may so happy prove/ To turn your households' rancor to pure love” (II. iii. 88-92). Friar Lawrence agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet because he believes it will end their family’s fights.

Friar Laurence is a priest and is also a doctor. He knows how to brew using plants and flowers which means he is also a doctor because Friar says “Poison hath residence, and medicine power….Being tasted, slays all senses with the heart.” (2.3.25-26) . He precipitously makes decisions.

The play “Romeo and Juliet” shows the death of two teen lovers. But who is to blame? Friar Lawrence is the man that married the two lovers and made the plan that went wrong causing the death of the young Romeo and Juliet. He didn’t get the letter to Romeo in time and he gave Juliet the sleeping potion. He also left Juliet alone with the body of her dead husband and she was also in a hostile state. Causing her to make a bad decision, killing herself.

Secondly, Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths or Romeo and Juliet because he gave Juliet the sleeping potion. Juliet needed help to stop an arranged marriage to a man named Paris. She went to Friar Lawrence threatening to kill herself if he couldn’t help her out of the marriage.

In Romeo And Juliet, Friar Lawrence plays a very important role in not only being a friend of the lovers, but also the person who is to blame for their deaths. Many people argue about who is the one who caused their deaths; Friar always seems to be the most popular. There are different explanations on who is to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death, two big ones being Friar Lawrence and Nurse.

In the drama “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, I think that there are many people responsible for the deaths of the main characters. However, there is one character that I think has more of an impact than others. That character is Friar Lawrence. There are many reasons why just he alone is the main reason for the death of Romeo and Juliet. He is to blame because he didn’t follow through well enough with his plan. He also kept too many secrets.

Thats one of the people that most people might blame for them to be dead. He is the one who wanted them to be together and get married and so that the two families would be friends and not fight. He is the one who also gave Juliet the poison that would make her fall asleep for a while, which gave the family the thought that she did die because of that and they think that she died somehow else. If Friar Lawrence didn’t give Juliet that poison then maybe they wouldn’t have died and then they would be together like they were meant to be. That could have not made Juliet die and Romeo as well and make their parents and families sad.

Friar Lawrence is the person who caused the death of Juliet and Romeo. Friar Lawrence was the one to set up everything. He made a plan for Juliet and Romeo to be together but it didn’t go so well. Friar Lawrence sent a letter to Romeo and Romeo didn’t receive the letter. Which then made Romeo go crazy and go to Juliet. He killed himself because he thought that Juliet died but she didn’t it was all a plan. And that’s when Romeo killed himself when he saw her. And after he killed himself she woke up and saw him dead next to her and she killed herself. All this would've not happened if Friar Lawrence did not come up with a plan.
