Fossil fuels have depleted greatly over the last ten years causing many to wonder what the next renewable source will be to use if fossil fuels run out. A renewable source comes from natural resources which are naturally replenished and have the ability to reproduce through biological and natural process. One of those options widely discussed is solar energy, it’s power is obtained by harnessing the energy of the sun 's rays and converts light energy to generate electricity through photovoltaic or solar cells. Solar has no environmental effects and is ecologically acceptable. Solar energy is one of the few alternative renewable resources that doesn’t pollute the earth but also isn’t 100% risk free. The amount of sunlight that hits the earth in 1 minute meets the world’s energy demands for an entire year. That’s an impressive feat that even regular fossil fuels can’t compete with. Solar Energy has been around for over the past 50 years but it has been talked about longer than that, according to Je Solar, in 1447 Leonardo Da Vinci himself predicted that there would be a solar industrialization. It doesn’t just work on sunny days too as many believe as research shows even on a cloudy day or at night. It can also be used for many other technological advancements that can help power the entire world. Solar energy also saves money and is very effective to everyday life. Solar energy can be used for many every day tools such as heating, cooking, cleaning and just regular
One extremely popular source of alternate energy is solar. This energy has been around for a large sum of years and is quite well known as solar panels are being installed on buildings and houses every day. Solar power relies on the enormous amount of energy that comes from the sun in the form of heat and light. This energy arrives in packets called photons, which hit the atoms in solar cells placed on houses and open fields. These photons knock out the electrons which then flow through the cell’s circuit, this, in turn, creates electricity (Figure 1). An electrical panel attached to the circuit then transfers this energy into the house to power lights and appliances. The reason this method of creating power is so popular is due to its many evident advantages. One of which includes the environmental benefits solar panels have. These benefits
This is one of the many new renewable resources. Solar energy is better than coal and oil but it still does have its disadvantages. First an advantage of solar energy is that it can be harnessed in all areas of the world. Meaning, we cannot run out of solar energy because the energy is being collected from the sun. The disadvantage to that if the dependency upon the weather. In this case, when it is a gloomy day the solar panels cannot collect energy. Also, the cost of solar energy is high. There are many things that going into the solar energy that must be paid for up front like solar panels, batteries, etc. Solar energy is stepping in the right direction however, there are still some disadvantages to
Alternative or clean energy is the way of the future. Every day we wait to implementing changes in the way we generate energy, is a lost opportunity to prevent further damage to the environment. As Kevin Begos (2016) points out in his article “The Solar Energy Controversies” by implementing solar technologies we can help the environment by reduce our dependency on fossil fuels (p. 387).
In the past hundred years we have been relying on fossil fuel as the major sources of energy, until now people are starting to see what harms fossil fuel does to our environment, and people are staring to see that we are running out of this sources, but likely with the advancement of technology scientist have been able to find something that will replace fossil fuel, and help clean our environment. This replacement are Alternative energy sources. These sources can be described as energy that will be less harmful to the environment as well as humans, cheap, and comes from sources that we won't run out of. One of the most popular source of alternative energy is solar energy. Solar power is the energy
How can energy be converted from one form to another? All forms of energy can be converted to another form of. For example: A pendulum is an object is suspended by a string or wire for support. If the object is moved to one side and then released, it will swing back and forth in an arc. At that moment the object reaches the top of its swing, it stops for an instant, and then begins another swing. At that instant of stopping, the object has 100 percent potential energy and no kinetic energy. The object starts back down through the swing, the object is gaining kinetic energy and losing potential energy. At the instant the object is at the bottom of the swing, it has 100 percent kinetic energy and no potential energy. As the object climbs
Mankind has had made developments that could help and destroy the Earth at the same time. Fossil fuel is a source of energy that is nonrenewable, meaning if humans ever run out, most of the industries will fail, go bankrupt, and be in debt and humans will go chaotic since their wifi is gone and how they don't have electricity to charge their phone and do their hair. While Solar energy is a source that will never cease in about five billion years. Solar energy can replace fossil fuel and make the world a happy and healthy environment for all ages even without advanced technology.
We all have heard about how one day, we will run out of oil, And you wonder "what are we going to do after we run out? Aren't we screwed?" I'm sure we've also heard, believe it or not, if you will, that oil and fossil fuels cause climate change and that's not a great thing. Well we dont have to worry about running out of oil or climate change by making one decision. We need to switch to renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources are sources of power that will never run out. A energy source that im going to be discussing today is solar energy. Solar energy has a lot of benefits not only to our society, but to our economy, and to out planets. while S.N. does have many pros, it also has its cons. But of course, I'll be telling you about its many benefits to us first.
There are a number of benefits to building a house that utilizes direct solar energy as compared to current conventional designs, which are largely powered and heated by energy from fossil fuels. According to a number of estimates, it is actually cheaper in the long term to incorporate solar energy into building design. Solar energy is far cleaner than fossil fuel derived energy, and therefore is far less impacting on the health of humans and the environment. There are a number of innovative technologies that have been developed for nearly every application of solar energy, thus making its use comparably convenient to fossil fuel use, but with greater assurance of
practice. Earth’s temperature is rising, oceans are rising, polar ice caps are melting, Pacific waves are washing over some island nations, and extreme weather and heat waves are increasing. Alternatives to fossil fuels that pump carbon dioxide into the air seem hardly controversial. The controversy is about what can be done to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and how can we get it done. It is already too late, but how can we reduce the scale of the damage that is already upon us? The argument presented in some books, articles, and internet sources seems presented like some polite controversy with no clearly correct
Solar power is only one of the forms of energy. Solar power has its advantages but most of the people the people think the solar panels are expensive disadvantages, but it’s actually an advantage. Solar power starts saving money from day one. Electricity is one of the key things we need to clean up and solar power is the way to do so. (Shanan 1-4) Solar energy is a visible form of alternative energy. Solar panels capture energy from the sun’s rays and convert it to electricity. Solar power offers a clean form of energy. Solar energy carries political considerations just as
Our society today thrives off of energy consumption in order to carry out daily activities. Since the second and third centuries people have been using fossil fuel for heat and energy. In the 1700s, the use for coal really took off when it was found out that it could be used as a source of energy to create the energy needed to drive locomotives. As each new invention that needed power came into existence since the 1700s, fossil fuels became the energy source that was chosen and because of this our society has become dependent on fossil fuels for energy (United States Department of Energy, 2013). Today fossil fuels are still in high demand.
Renewable energy sources like solar, wind and hydroelectric are available but are not used often. I want us to put a limit on countries on how much non-renewable energy sources they can use. Only if we work together, help the other countries can we accomplish this. In fact, just today(1/24) Scotland has set a goal for using 50% renewable energy by 2030. I think that Scotland has set a realistic goal and that other countries should follow their lead. Non-renewable energy sources are bound to run out and when they do, we can either be ready by using renewable energy or have a global crisis. One of the best renewable energy sources currently is solar energy. Solar panels cost very little to install and have little to no maintenance. The sun provides us with more energy than we need. In fact, in just over an hour, the sun provides enough energy to run the world for an entire year. Even with the current 20% efficient solar panels, we could easily solve our energy problem. Therefore, by beginning to transition to solar energy today, we will be preventing a catastrophe of
Solar energy is the light and heat which are coming from the sun, and a human create them for his benefits since ancient time ago. Also, solar energy is the important kind of green energy. Moreover, humans have used them by using a range of modern technology that is constantly evolving. It includes harnessing solar energy technologies using thermal energy of the sun either directly heated or within converting mechanical movement or electric power, or to generate electricity through phenomena Photovoltaic (PV) using the panels of photovoltaic cells’ effort. In addition, a human has used solar energy architectural designs that rely on the exploitation of solar energy process, solar energy is a sustainable energy and is not implemented also it is a natural source of energy, and can be used to generate other forms of energy. As well, the great contribution is that solar energy will assure the other energy unsustainable sources such as oil and natural gas. According to Dickon and Matt “Coal, natural gas, and nuclear power, which today supply two-thirds or more of global power, are not about to disappear. But even at its currently low rates of market penetration, solar power has begun to shift the economics of electricity. This is the dawn of the solar age” (2015, para.28). Also, it will decrease using other sustainable
Our planet has faced some difficult times being billions of years old. Today, it’s facing an epidemic that has been addressed to the public numerous times in a myriad of ways though has not been taken seriously—Global Warming. Global warming occurs due to the increase in temperature in the atmosphere by human practices by burning fossil fuels and the emission of harmful gases such as carbon monoxide. To help combat against global warming we have many options to resort to for clean energy sources such as water and wind energy. However, there is one energy source in particular that is infinite in abundance for the entire planet to live off of; solar energy. With the constant use of fossil fuels in play with no strategic approach into transitioning to a more renewable source of clean energy such as solar energy, we will continue to kill the life that thrives our home and our home itself. There needs to be a higher ratio of solar energy industry to offset the use of fossil fuels to help combat global warming. Using the power harnessed from the sun doesn’t pollute—has no greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming, solar energy can create millions of jobs and increasing our economy offsetting the by coal industry funds, and lastly promoting more uses of solar energy could potentially cause a snowball effect—eventually everyone will want to hop on the trend that boosts the economy!
Think about solar energy and the first image that springs to the mind is that of those arrays of shiny photovoltaic panels adorning the rooftops and the countryside. Indeed, photovoltaic cells still remain the most popular way of generating solar power. Solar power, for one thing, is not cheap. However, even though the initial set up costs can be quite high, the long-term financial benefits of using solar power are too strong to deny.
