FILM ANALYSIS The Blind Side is a 2009 American semi-biographical drama film written and directed by John Lee Hancock. The film took place at Memphis, Tennesse and featured Michael Oher, an offensive lineman who played for the Baltimore Raven of the NFL. For most of his childhood life, 17 year old Oher has been in foster care with different families yet runs away every time he was placed in a new home. His life change when his friend’s father asks Burt Cotton, coach of Wingate Christian School, to help his son and Mike enrol. Impressed by Mike’s size and athleticism, Cotton gets him admitted despite his abysmal academic record. At his new school, Oher was befriended by a boy named Sean Jr. “SJ”. This trigger Michael to go back to his neighbouring friends but ended into a fight after the leader of the group gave crude remarks about Leigh Anne and her family. Leigh Anne went to look out for him after he run away but unsuccessful in her search. They got reunited when Michael called Leigh Anne to meet up with him to talk and this conversation went on to a decision that she would support him whatever decision he makes. Michael also satisfied the investigator with his decision of choosing University of Mississippi for the reason that it is where his family went to school. The film ends with an emotional goodbye between Michael and Leigh Anne as they took him to University of Mississippi for his college. The film pointed out a lot of subject matter that greatly affects our lives and these are as follows being a Good Samaritan, determination in reaching our goals and dreams, expression of once self, making decisions in the path we take, the different perception of different individuals to a certain subject, our judgement in the life of others, the impact of different exercises/evaluation concerning a person’s multiple intelligence to how he copes with life, and so much more. The Good Samaritan in the film was depicted by Leigh Anne.
