Explain Why Jesus Went To John The Baptist

Baptist Christians’ “Tradition has emphasized the Lordship and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, believers’ baptism, the competency of all believers to be in direct relationship with God and to interpret Scripture, the importance of the local church, the assurance of freedom in worship and opinion, and the need to be Christ’s witnesses within society.”(10 Facts). The derivation of Baptists is “adult believers”, meaning they do not believe what the Catholics call, “Infant baptism”. They do not believe in it because they believe you must have a real connection of trust to God in order to be baptized, but as an infant, you know of nothing. “For one, they claim that there is no passage in the Bible that mentions infant baptism. Secondly, baptism must involve the body’s immersion in water. Lastly, the Bible states that baptism can only be given to those who can believe.” (Difference Between).

Growing up as an African American in a white world in the late 1800’s was incredibly ruthless. Even after slavery, blacks had a hard time trying to get work, education or civil rights. Education was a major topic in debate for blacks and whites. Education, the most important thing in life, acts as the key to a person 's future. Education leads to knowledge, and knowledge leads to power. It teaches humans how to prosper and make good decisions. With a good education, people hold the ability to achieve all types of goals, and more doors will open for them. African-Americans held every right to obtain this basic human right. White and blacks took on many different paths with education and W.E.B. Du Bois tell a short story about it all.

Fundamentally, the role of the Baptist Faith and Message was to adopt statements that would “clarify the atmosphere and remove some causes of misunderstanding, friction, and apprehension” These confessions of faith were implemented to confirm repentance to God, perpetuate faith in Jesus Christ, and fulfil the Great Commission. Further, the statements are intended to clarify and provide guidance of the basic beliefs that stands as the foundation of the Baptist’s faith, witness, and worship. As an autonomous body, the local congregation is considered to be independent in its faith and fellowship of the gospel.

Baptists are one of the largest Protestant Christian Denominations. A vast majority of Baptist churches do follow the basic Baptist doctrines with emphasis on the belief that baptism should occur through immersion. This belief is the main contributor to their identity and therefore is the reason why they are called Baptists. Many groups of baptist emerged after the 17th century with many beliefs such as the atonement of Jesus as he died on the cross. They have different beliefs and founders as well as different regions of the world. In a contemporary Christian environment one of the most prominent practices to have a significant contribution to Christianity as a living religious tradition is Baptism. Baptism is of utmost importance for most Christian denominations. It has profound significance for the individual who is baptised and is also important for the Christian community as a whole. As a sacrament of initiation, Baptism calls its adherents to become missionary Disciples of Christ. It is through baptism that one’s faith journey begins and Christians are called to follow and live their lives in the light of Christ.

Baptism is the sacramental rite that admits an adherent into the Christian Church community. It has origins with of John the Baptist as described in the Gospels, available through the recounts from Paul.

The story of Christ's life and teachings, especially as contained in the first four books of the New Testament, namely Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The religious literature mirrors the of life of Jesus Christ. His disciples conveyed to the people that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and He would die for mankind.
