The book is written by a girl, her name is Scout Finch, she has a brother whose name is Jem, her father also lives with them and his name is Atticus. Scouts mum has died when she was really young, so she doesn’t remember her much, but Jem (her brother) remembers some moments with his mum and he tells Scout about these moments every once in a while. Every summer holiday Dill would come from his home town to come and enjoy the holiday with them exploring the Town of Maycomb (Maycomb is the town where most of the story is set and where Scout lives) like the town haunted house that lies between her home and her school. This is shown on page 217, “This was all ‘round the back steps when I got here this morning”. The author has removed some of the letters like in the recent quote where the ‘a’ is removed from the word ‘around’. Making the author style Colloquial and really informal. Harper Lee does use figurative language in her book ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’. This is shown on page 70, “"Smoke was rolling off our house and Ms. Rachel's house like fog off a river bank". Harper Lee has used a simile to describe how the smoke was rolling of Scout’s house and Ms. Rachel’s. The author also uses metaphors, personifications and also exaggerations when she wants to thoroughly describe something that has occurred or is taking place. Opinion: I would recommend this book because it shows all the aspects of life and never makes you bored like other books that waste so much time describing something little and doesn’t get on with anything. This book is appropriate for teenagers and young adults as it has some inappropriate things and ideas like the rape case. This book links to my life by showing how racism is a concerning case like what’s happening now in many countries in the world not just about race but about religion and opinions. It also links to my life when I do things early and I get in trouble for that even though I’ve done something right not
