Death, the one thing every person will eventually face, could be seen as an end or an entrance. What is your extent of a friendship? How far are you willing to go to help the person you care for? For many reasons, the majority of people think murder is immoral—especially if it was your own best friend. But sometimes we may have to go to the extreme, as long as we know it was the right thing to do from the heart because that’s how much you know you care. George killed Lennie, because Candy told George he wished he would have shot his own dog, Lennie killed Curley’s wife, the puppie, and the mouse, and the lynch mob would have done worse things to Lennie.

There are people who believe George is in the position to be punished for what he did, but if they look at all the circumstances they would understand George‘s actions are condonable. George Milton is justified in the killing of Lennie Small because he saved Lennie from facing the wrath of Curely, he stopped Lennie from causing any more harm, and he acted selflessly.

George selflessly experiences pain and agony from the execution of his only companion as he knows Lennie is now in a better place.

Only on the brink of death should people even consider euthanizing someone,is to stop the person’s suffering. When George kills Lennie, I believe that it is wrong. Lennie has a life to live, even though he killed Curley’s wife, he doesn’t deserve to die. I strongly agree with the fact that they should have taken Lennie to a hospital.

This is not mercy killing since George doesn't want anyone else to hurt or kill Lennie, so he kills him because then he won't have to live with the pain that someone else killed him. When Candy says “I ought to if shot that dog myself, George. I shouldn't ought to let no stranger shoot my dog.” (Steinbeck 61), he means that he rather of shot his own dog rather than Carlson.

Some people are against euthanasia and think it’s horribly wrong and others think it’s an easy painless way to end your life. Some people consider euthanasia is also murder. Euthanasia is a choice to end someone's life who is very sick and are incurable. Murdering someone is totally different. Murdering is the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. If you are a murder, you plan out how and when you want to kill someone, stabbing, shooting, etc. George was a murder. He thought out a plan to kill Lennie before anyone else did. Lennie was sitting on the river bank thinking about the dream while George was saying it to him. Lennie giggled in happiness. “An’ live on the fatta the lan’!” (Steinbeck 105). While the the act of euthanasia is mainly performed of the terminally ill, the use of it on Lennie is justified. Lennie is special to say it in a nice way. From the text we can tell that Lennie needs George. Emotionally and mentally. George just being around Lennie relaxes him. Going from the text we can tell that after Lennie kills Curley's wife he will be either shot or less likely hung. Now the act of George shooting Lennie is more than the end of the book. It in it self is a representation of what candy and his dog had. When Candy's dog was put down, Candy makes it a statement that he raised him and he should have been the one to put him down. This was applied to George and Lennie. It would be better for Lennie to die without knowing it
