Shadowing physicians with drastically different doctoring styles and personalities helped me understand more than just the daily workload but also which doctoring style I prefer. Currently, there are about 40 students in my SADD chapter. I started my SADD group my freshman year, so I have been involved with my SADD group for almost three years now.

The first standard I demonstrated was standard one. Standard one is supporting instructional opportunities. When Mrs. Levan had a sub, I assisted in delivering instruction to the class. Mrs. Levan wrote in her lesson plan to have me paint the student’s hands to look like spiders. I painted both of their hands black and put their handprints on their spider webs. The students had a fire drill while I was there, so I walked at the back of the line to make sure all of the students made it outside safely. At the end of the day, I had the students come over to the carpet and I read a firefighter book to them. The students enjoyed me reading to them.

This week I had the opportunity to purchase my EDAD 701 Education Studies Textbook for class. I felt very relieved to make this purchase because it was the last book on the shelf. During the previous weeks I made several attempts to purchase it on line but I fell short because the book would have had to been shipped from overseas and I couldn’t possible wait that long for a purchase. After I received the book I began interpreting Chapter 6 the citizenship education on black and minority communities. I haven’t concluded the chapter yet or discussed it with my partner but that process will soon be completed. Currently, I am working as a graduate assistant to Dr Melody Eaton, associate director of the graduate program. Dr Eaton is an inspiring woman and provided me many interesting projects to complete. In addition to graduate assistantship, I am doing my practicum at the family practice and pediatric office. This semester I had an opportunity to work with MD and nurse practitioner (NP). This was the first time I had MD as my preceptor. This was definitely an eye opener to me because I noticed a difference in the approach of MDs and NPs. For instance, MD preceptor focused more on diagnosis and treatment while NP on connecting with their patient. Also, I noticed NPs were better able to convince the patient and MDs had deeper understanding of pathophysiology

On Thursday, July 27,2017 I attended clinical at the Golden Valley Medical Clinic in Clinton. I learned several tasks that take place in a clinic along with the many roles that are played at one desk. As an LPN in the clinic, there are many roles that take place. The LPN is responsible for assisting the patient from the waiting area into a patient examination room, obtaining current vital signs along with weight and height, ordering lab work and x-rays, handling referrals to and from the clinic, instructing patients on current and new medications, giving injections, and setting up and assisting the doctor with procedures. The Clinic currently accepts any patients ranging from infants through the elderly.

All of the staff members who work here in our office have years of experience in their field and are fully trained. Their goal is to provide patients with personalized and professional care. They understand what motivates their patients and what kind of results they are expecting.

I called Randy up to my desk to have a quiet conversation and Inform him that he needed to complete and update his EDP, he refused, saying that it showed he was 100% finished.
