Terrorists attack threats have been ignored by the brazilian government and the police forces, and instead of responding they police forces were assigned to guard the building of the new stadium instead of enforcing the law. In fact ”it is imperative for the Brazilian government to understand that its people expect the authorities to comply with their duty to protect by not neglecting the terrorist threat” (Degaut 36). Having the 2016 olympics hosted anywhere would bring about terrorists threats, the brazilian government is choosing not to respond could be a good move or a bad move, good being is if terrorists see they don't care or aren't responding might make them not attack or vice versa. Also with the rise in gang activity, in effect of the illegal drug industry, the police should be making sure the gangs in check instead of guarding a construction …show more content…
Having problems means you have solutions, one problem that seems like both major and a minor problem is the economy in brazil “Brazil’s economic growth by around half a percentage point for each of 2011 and 2012 (to 4.1% and 3.6% respectively)...It now thinks Brazil will grow less than most other emerging economies” (“Changing direction” 37). Brazil’s economy is not doing well, a solution to that problem could have been not hosting both the world cup and the 2016 olympic games, hosting both events are making brazil's government think that they need to be the perfect hosts for the events but building a brand new stadium and not focus on the fact that most of brazilians are living at or below poverty level. Another problem i see is the illegal drugs that are bought and sold for such low amounts of money in brazil that people are becoming more and more addicted, even gangs are starting to become bigger and more numerous all over brazil “Because of the drug industry the brazilian favela gangs are more numerous” (Walker 35). A major problem in brazil is people not feeling safe when traveling there, tourists need to feel safe when they travel anywhere and with the emerging gangs and the terrorist threats against brazil, people do feel less and less safe “They do get nervous and they do ask, 'Is it safe?' There are going to be millions of people coming to Brazil" (qtd from Baran 14). One
More than 60,000 people have been killed in the ongoing drug war in Mexico. The fact that this violence has yet to reach its acme is quiet frightening. The freight instilled in the tourist that once found the many hotspots located in Mexico such as Acapulco and Cancun are now terrified to set foot in the land. Due to the fact that there is no safe or secure area where tourist can venture out for a good time. Due to violence Mexico has been affected with a lack of tourist, revenue and its acclaimed bad reputation.
The concepts of geography, government and economics affect the quality of life in Brazil because of the positive and negative change throughout the country. Brazil is one of the largest countries is the world with a population over 208 million. Their quality of life has grown immensely as it once was covered in rainforest and grasslands. However, it is still mostly covered with the Amazon Rainforest but their are also many cities where most people live and work. Two of the largest cities in Brazil are São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Farm lands are nearly extinct do to the tropical climate throughout the country, which can make it extremely difficult for people to plant anything outside of just grains. Most Brazilians live a decent life, however
The social and economic implications that the World Cup and the Summer Olympics have could be positive if transparency within Brazilian government was available. A transparent dialogue and relationship must be created between the government, local and state authorities, and the citizens who are affected by these huge sporting events. Through transparency and discussion, many solutions can exist such as fair compensation for being displaced, and options to move elsewhere . People should not be forced to leave their homes and become
Brazil and Rio in particular, experiences pervasive and institutionalized forms of violence: police corruption, gang warfare, and military brutality. Despite its rich natural resources and tourism developing in recent years, Brazil represents one of the most economically divided countries in the world; a very small wealthy class exists above the majority - poor and underclass so that the social status has more to do with wealth than with colour. Brazil’s contemporary national cinema “reveal[s] a continuity of concerns with local themes, stories and traditions, including a recurrent focus on emblematic spaces of national identity such as the impoverished sertão and the favelas (Heise 63).” As Teresa Caldeira notes, ‘democratic’ Brazil is known for its high level of tolerance for police abuses (Caldeira 235).
Crimes: There is a conscious increment in the quantity of rough violations occurring in Brazil, which brought on death at significant urban areas in Brazil, violations, for example, manslaughter rate are generally seen in urban territory.
You recently had asked me to find the risk assessment about Sao Paulo and this is what I have found. I believe you and the rest of my co-workers will enjoy it there but there are certain places in Sao Paulo that are still dangerous especially in the day time while if you and the Thomson Reuters team travel to the Central areas in Sao Paulo it is very dangerous at night. I needed to inform you that the crime rates have decreased since 2011 but the level of crime is very high calculating to 86.30%, also armed robberies are very common. Crime does indeed continues to be the ultimate threats to visitors. The Central Sao Paolo is safe in the day time but be aware that pickpocketing often happens at Praca de Se when you are either
In recent years, Brazil has undergone a seemingly endless cycle of political turmoil. Between economic instability, a recently impeached president and two thirds of it’s Congress facing criminal or corruption charges, Brazil is in the midst of its deepest governmental crisis in decades.
There have been groups of local residents and biologist teaming together to rebuild the mangrove swamps, Mario Moscatelli, an environmentalist and biologist has planted over 35 hectors of mangroves over the past two decades to try and attempt to use them as a natural sewage filter. These are a long term investment as they will be used over the next few decades as they will continue to thrive after the games are completed. This is an on-going issue in Brazil and always has been, it has just been highlighted by the arrival of the Olympic games and that the effects of the polluted water will be broadcasted to the world it has required more intense action plans. By promising that 80% of the sewage will be cleaned has raise the hopes of the residents that live In these affected areas and by Brazil not following through with the plan it has disappointed the millions
The World Bank should have refused to take one step until they were confident the Brazilian government could handle the responsibilities the agreement required, not to mention put appropriate level of planning into it to even consider half of the massive issues that could have come up, not just assuming everything would work out fine. The Bank was more concerned with being part of conquering the last untamed frontier than insuring its success. Given this example, I doubt international financial institutions such as this could consistently provide responsible
Currently Brazil is going through major political strife and are in a state of political chaos.Brazil's government is currently a constitutional republic. Brazil's now possibly former President Dilma Rousseff is in the process of being impeached because of her past record of mistakes and breaking budget laws (Shoichet & McKirdy). This impeachment and political corruption could not come at worse times seeing as though the o2016 Summer Olympics are only two months away. Brazil is also split on the new direction of the country. Citizens are torn between a continuation of the more progressive government which Dilma had running of go back to more conservative ruling and regulations which existed in previous political leaders’ policies (Phillips). This decision is crucial to the rights of citizens and the passing of new laws in the country, the decision will ultimately affect every citizen in one way or

Even thought many Brazilians disagree negative opinions for the Brazil’s government and Olympic Organizing Committee, Rio Olympic games still was a big success. Rio is unable to grow much more in size because of its physical factors. To the North and West are mountain ranges, which is unsuitable living conditions and to the South and East is water. These factors are contributing to making traffic congestion problems and overcrowding even worse.
Thanks to its 6,000 miles of beaches and new governmental support programs, Brazil’s tourism sector did very well during the 2009 global economic crises, managing not to lose a point during the international recession. But the future is bound to become even brighter. The 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games with their strong investments in infrastructure are already causing a great deal of international interest in the country. R$11.5 billion will be the overall fund injection for
