Criminal Minds is a popular TV show focused on an elite team of FBI profilers that identify and try to take down some of the country’s craziest criminals. The main characters of the show consist of three male characters and three female characters. The gender roles vary throughout the show but generally the men are the ones taking the risks. The woman, on the other hand, are generally gathering intel or trying to be a calming voice to get a criminal to cooperate, but on the rare occasion, they are also at a standoff trying to take down the criminal. When taking a quick glance at the show Criminal Minds you notice that each character generally follows the normal gender roles, but each character has a few traits that go against the normal gender roles.

Having a loving family is something that no child should live without. A loving family helps shape your personality, and also helps instil good decision making in you. They also act as your support system, when you are going through hard times. Lastly, they teach you about your heritage and culture, this helps create a sense of belonging. These are just a few reasons why having a loving family is something every child should have. This theme is shown through THE FARMING OF BONES written by Edwidge Danticat.

In society today, the discipline of anthropology has made a tremendous shift from the practices it employed years ago. Anthropologists of today have a very different focus from their predecessors, who would focus on relating problems of distant peoples to the Western world. In more modern times, their goal has become much more local, in focusing on human problems and issues within the societies they live.

After finding some skeletal remains, the police have provided a list of three missing persons, Kim Lee, Theresa Woods and Jonathan Parker. While spending multiple days in the lab, plenty of information was collected to help with the identification of the bones, such as the sex of the victim, the age of the victim and the approximate height and race of the victim. This data was compiled to draw a conclusion and safely identify the remains.

The massacre that Edwidge Danticat describes in The Farming of Bones is a historical event. In 1937, the Dominican Republic’s dictator, Rafael Trujillo, ordered the slaughter of Haitians on the border of the two countries. Twelve thousand Haitians died during the massacre (Roorda 301). The Massacre River, which forms the northern portion of the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, was named for a separate massacre in the nineteenth-century of French soldiers by revolting native slaves. Although the river has been the site of much tragedy in the past, it “shows no mark” of the violence that has taken place there (Van Boven par. 2).

Although the usage of Lord Jeff directly affects minority students, it is important that students who belong to the majority group also have a platform to express their concerns. Through this dialogue and discussion, administrators are able to gain an understanding of how student’s feel and they can use that in their decision making process. Administrators can also encourage students of the importance of recognizing their own race but also being acceptance of others.

Forensic Anthropologist involves with the study of human remains for legal purpose. This job helps the ever expanding world of criminal law and the need for justice. It helps bring answer in the science community on how to analyze and distinguish decaying remains and how to identify their identity. In conclusion forensic anthropologists allow for murders or accidents to be revealed and slowly let them rest in peace.

Gender inequality still plays a huge role in today’s society. Women comprise only a small percentage of the local law enforcement agencies across the nation. Women have been a part of law enforcement since the 20th century but have only been noticed within the last 40 years. Back in the 1970’s women rarely held positions in law enforcement and if they did it was mainly clerical/desk positions. Even though the amount of women in law enforcement today has increased, women still only make up roughly around 13 percent of the law enforcement work force (Public). This is the first time I have ever seen an episode of Bones. It is very interesting, however, I was a little lost with the relationship details of Booths and Bones. One question that occurred to me while watching episode was, what had happened between the two of them? At the beginning of the show when they find the body, I realized that this whole episode would be about how, what had happened to the person and how they was killed? As the investigation of the body found is carried out, the personal relationship of Bones and Booth is presented with adds drama to the show.

The skeletal system is made up of bones and joints. Bones are a dry dense tissue that is composed of calcium phosphorous and organic matter. The bones are protected and covered by a layer of fibrous connective tissue membrane called the periosteum (Brown, et al., 2015, p. 1547). There are two basic types of bone tissue: Compact Bone and Spongy Bone. Compact bones are dense smooth bones, while Spongy bones are composed of small needle-like pieces of bones and open space.
