Dogs are happy to see you no matter what kind of mood you’re in. Everyday when I come home from school my dog, Nemo, is there to greet me at the door by jumping on me and licking my face. I could’ve had an amazing, miserable, tired, or content day and the jumping still continues. Canines are loyal friends and the relationship between dogs and humans goes way back. Dogs are better than cats because they assist humans and show more affection. Dogs have been domesticated for as long as 135,000 years which makes cats seem fairly new to the household. Both dogs and cats were originally used for reasons that benefited human work. Now- a-days, dogs are far more useful with job skills. When I was little, I used to live outside. Not literally, but just in the sense that I was an outdoors kind of child. I enjoyed helping my dad with household projects and was ecstatic when I found out he would build a tree house for me. While he built the major part of it with dangerous equipment, I put myself in charge of collecting sticks to try and “help” my father put it together. Sooner or later, Nemo, my dog, was running back and forth with sticks in his mouth helping me collect what I needed. To start, cats require a lot less maintenance compared to dogs. To have a dog you need to be able to take it on a walk every so often so it won’t be too energetic. You also have to potty train and bring dogs to the groomer or clean them yourself.

Work around the house, or yard is a good way to involve a dog to lighten the load off its owner. A dog can pull loads of garbage, or pickup objects with its mouth while the owner carry other objects. Cats don’t get its paws dirty too much. It’s unlikely of cats to do some hard work. The size of the cat can tell the difference of a dog and cat’s work habits.

Dogs and humans began working together long before written history. Man and Dog, Canis familiaris, survived by hunting and living together. Dogs assisted humans in hunting, gathering, and in defense. It may be hard to see your pooch that way, especially if it is one of the newer breeds. A toy poodle, for example, cannot assist you in hunting. That won't stop them from trying to help you. Dogs understand a lot more than we give them credit for, most use this knowledge to attempt to help their owner. Dogs can even tell how we feel by just looking at our face. Even if it is just a lick or cuddle, at least we know they care about us.

Dog serves us, performing a variety of functions: protects mansion, apartments, takes part in military operations, helps in the sanitary and search activities, comes to the help for people in the water, serves the blind people as a guide, makes children happy and their presence is rescue for lonely people.
