In the podcast Serial you will be convinced that Adnan is the suspect who killed Hae. The relationship between the couple turned bad once they broke up and Adnan appears to be the prime suspect. While there are other stories that might change your mind and hint that someone else committed the murder, there is proof that Adnan did it because he's constantly changing his alibi, he’s lying about certain incidents that happened, and he's pretending the entire situation never even happened. In 1999, Hae Lee was killed by an unknown killer who might be Adnan Syed. But he says that he's innocent and can't remember what went on exactly that day. But most people do know what went on and all of the facts point to him. Throughout this whole podcast from start to finish I had a feeling that Adnan killed his …show more content…
It is clear that he says that is because he’s trying to cover himself up again and pretend that he doesn't remember anything. The reason why he did this is to try and show that he did nothing wrong. With this going on he feels that he lies so much that the whole encounter is a blur to him. I personally believe that when he killed her his mind went blank because he was so mad at himself. I feel like Adnan is going through a phase where he can’t find where his mind is at. After killing Hae it was just a huge shock for him. Some people might argue that Jay was the murder and not Adnan and vice versa. Still to this day people don't know what exactly went on that day but Adnan has more evidence then Jay. This leads many people to believe that Adnan was the killer of hae’s death. In conclusion, all of these mysterious points lead up to the truth, and that is that Adnan is the murderer. He has lied by not telling the truth, he has forgotten what went on that day and pretends that the situation never happened. This story should open people's eyes and be more alert when things don't seem
Pusateri told the police about Wilds using that same phone to contact her and admitting that he had helped Syed bury Hae Min Lee’s body. Although Wilds denied involvement regarding Hae’s death at first, he eventually confessed to helping Syed bury her body and dispose of the car in which the body was carried. After days of anguish and intensive search, on February 9, Hae's body was found in Leakin Park, a rambling forest in Baltimore. Her body was found by a maintenance guy who said he'd stopped to urinate on his way to work and noticed black hair poking out of a shallow grave. The cause of her death was manual strangulation. Although Lee’s younger brother Saad who was Syed's best friend believed that he is innocent, on February 28, 1999, Syed was charged with first-degree murder and has been in prison ever since. In 2016, after more than 17 years of incarceration, and multiple denied appeals, Adnan Syed has finally been granted a new trial. Investigations have shown that Adnan might not be, after all, responsible for the death of Hae Min Lee, since it was proven that Jay Wilds’ testimony was unreliable and
We believe that Jay is guilty. In the next five minutes we will prove to you that Adnan is in fact innocent and why Jay should be in jail. Adnan was close friends with Jay’s girlfriend Stephanie which is what we believe Jay’s motive was to murder Hae. The court convicted Adnan of the murder with the motive of being jealous of Hae’s new relationship. We argue that the motive of jealousy was what made Jay kill Hae Min Lee.
Adnan is probably innocent because the only solid evidence is Jay’s inconsistent testimony. The first evidence is the police audio when the first audio played jay mentions that he Adnan were at on the mall and the other audio mentions that they were at a different mall. And the second evidence is the court tapes when Adnan lawyer is questioning jay and changes his answers at the moment when jay was at the stage. And last evidence is Jay’s lack of memory because hard to believe that he forgot the day/night that he saw a dead body for the first time (Hae Min Lee’ Body)
Hae Min Lee was reported to have lost on January 13, 1999. Her lifeless body was discovered by law enforcement agencies on February 9 in Leaking Park. After being treated as a possible homicide, investigations began to identify the killer. Adnan Syed was convicted of the murder as a result of follow-ups that led to many dormant leads, recheck alibis and even question assumptions supporting the murder. Since it is evident that Adnan had a previous relationship with Hae Min Lee, it is obvious that after they had broken up, there were suspicions that Adnan hatched a plan to kill her. Jay's story supported the account that Adnan had killed her and buried her. Although Adnan’s story contains many layers of contradictions, misleading information, and fascinating characters, it demonstrates a fog of ambiguity to what happened to Hae Min Lee.
Aisha testified at trial that the note had been written sometime in early November of 1998, and that the phrase “I’m going to kill” was written in Adnan’s handwriting
Several shots were fired at Malcolm X and, “bullets of two different calibers as well as shotgun pellets had been removed from his body,” (Kihss) during the autopsy which gave police the conclusion that there had been multiple individuals trying to shoot Malcolm X. Others who were spectators in the crowd were also injured in the shooting to cause the crowd to panic so that there would be a diversion and the shooters could get away. Hagan being one of the shooters was the only man spotted by police as he fired his gun at Malcolm and was found with the same kind of ammunition in his pocket that was shot into the now dead Malcolm X, incriminating Hagan. Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Kahlil Islam were also arrested then later freed when Hagan admitted to the shooting and incriminated two others who he had known were involved in the murder, clearing the names of the two falsely imprisoned
The defense demonstrates how ineffective and unreliable the criminal justice system is through the tactics used. The only job Adnan’s lawyer, Christina Gutierrez, had was this: to prove Adnan is innocent. However, undoubtedly, she did not do her investigation properly. For instance, Asia’s letter to Adnan when he is in prison was the key evidence to prove that the State’s timeline was wrong. Asia mentioned speaking to Adnan in the Woodlawn Public library, for 15 to 20 minutes during the time the State’s said Hae was killed. The judge wrote Christina Gutierrez’s, Adnan’s lawyer, not using Asia McClain as an alibi witness was strategic, since there was no specified time in the original letters. There was also the call Asia made to the Prosecutor, Kevin Urick, saying that she only wrote the affidavit because Adnan’s family pressured her. If these were the only facts to consider when trying to comprehend the tactics of the defense, I would say it was a good call. Despite it being a well thought out method it made me wonder, if she has gone to the library and asked to see the footage of the day Asia claims to have held a conversation with Adnan, rather than a disadvantage, the letter would have been beneficial for them, since Adnan now has an alibi. Proving the timeline the State presented to
The case of Hae Min Lee was originally only prominent within Baltimore County of Maryland. It has the trappings of a typical high school murder; a teen is angry at their ex-boyfriend/girlfriend for breaking up with them and as a result, would murder them. However, the case has gained international attention largely due to the investigations from ‘Serial’, which revealed an abnormal number of inconsistencies within the case against Adnan Syed. Eventually, this attention culminated into the granting of a new trial for Adnan. Adnan is most likely guilty because of circumstantial evidence and testimony from other witnesses that demonstrate probable cause for Adnan to murder Hae. Circumstantial evidence is good enough to convict someone if it can
In this essay you will read three specific pieces of evidence to make me believe the killer is insane. In¨The Tell-Tale Heart¨ you hear the killer state, ¨ I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult.
When Aileen began to question Corey, he got upset and ended up beating her, tying her up and raping her. This is what our textbook shows us as the “victim precipitation theory- the idea that the victims behavior was the spark that ignited the subsequent offense, as when the victim is abused by the offender physically or verbally.” I don’t think Aileen planned to kill him, but he was definitely abusing her and tried to intentionally hurt her, I legitimately think she killed Corey completely for the reason of self-defense. After stealing his car and cleaning up the mess, she didn’t really know what to do, but that experience definitely scarred
The husband is the potential suspect. He had the perfect alibi, he was out of town and no one would suspect him of committing the crime. He knew his wife would be home from work that day. He knew her routine and carefully planned when he would commit the murder. Nothing was stolen from the home, as it contained a wealth of expensive items. The fact that nothing was disturbed, points to the husband. He knew the layout of the home, because he
On the contrary to what the court believes Mr. Jay is the manipulative and deceiving person which debunks his reliability to the court. Additionally, the witness' story of what occurred on January 13th, 1999 is very inconsistent. The use of Adnan's cell phone log that have been used to corroborate Mr. Jay do not match up "from 12:07 until 6:07, that window of time is where Jay’s story doesn’t line up with the cell phone records. And the timeline he’s giving is not lining up with the times of the cell phone calls". Therefore the belief that the call at 2:36 is not in reality when Adnan called Jay to tell him to "come pick me up from Best Buy". In addition, a witness states that "It’s impossible. It’s impossible. I mean, like, I mean it’s just impossible. It’s not, there’s no way that she was at Best Buy at 2:36". Due to the fact that Hae Min"was with [the] [witness] during that time, or at the school during that time" as they had a wrestling match to attend to as they were both managers of the team. Furthermore, the only evidence that brings forth that Adnan and Jay were in the same car around the murder which additionally corroborates the witness is the Nisha call, the
We believe the perpetrator has killed the old man because he was crazy. The way the old man was murdered could not have been done by a sane man we have reasons to believe that the murderer is the young man who lived with the old man. He is the only one who had access to the old man at every moment of the day.
There was a theory of a stranger killing him and of him killing himself and lastly his wife doing the deed. The most likely. to me was the wife doing the deed.
Another reason that leads me to believe that Adnan is innocent is the said to be locations and timing of when and where the murder was committed.First of all, think about the fact that this murder was committed in the afternoon around 3:00 o’clock, broad daylight. Don’t you think someone would see ? Theories are that the murder either took place at a pool hall, maybe around the high school or even a Best Buy parking lot, where Jay claims he saw Hae’s body in the trunk of a car. If that's the case, all locations pan out to be public places, someone, anyone could've saw it
