Do you like to visit Lake Erie? Of course you don’t! The water is so unsanitary from pollution. Well, the fish feel the same way, and that is their environment. Many people think that washing down products with chemicals in them will not harm anything.Well, it does. The water dumps into Lake Erie. Then with all of the chemicals, the water starts to get polluted along with the animal’s environment. Fish deserve a healthier environment. Just because fish are animals does not mean that they should live in unhealthy water.
Did you know that algae blooms can form from pollution? They can. If citizens do not put a stop to pollution more algae will form. First of all, citizens need to put a stop to pollution because algae blooms die and release a chemical called phosphate. Phosphate causes more algae to form. Did you know that only one bloom has covered 800 miles of Lake Erie? That is only one bloom! Imagine

Sometimes there is so much pollution you can’t go in the water. Algae blooms are toxic and you have to keep pets and animals away from the water if it is the color of split pea soup. Toxic algae blooms can also have severe effects on human health. When the water is that dangerous, people can’t even make contact with the water.
Don’t you want he plants and animals living in the lake to have a healthy environment so they do not die off? With pollution it causes algae blooms to form. When algae blooms form, they can release toxins that can sicken and kill animals that live in the water. Fish die from having so much pollution. Would you want your environment to be polluted so much that you die? Just because fish are animals does not mean that they get less respect.
With all if the pollution, fish die. The pollution can cause no oxygen in the deeper part of the lake for animals. Studies show that in the late summers, parts of the lake do not have oxygen for animals in the deeper parts. From that, animals
Claim: Pollution could affect wildlife like fish, birds, and others by hurting or killing them due to trash or litter stuck in weeds or floating above the water in the air.
More than 24 billion gallons of untreated sewage waste and storm water are pumped into the lakes annually. Pollution is increasing as well, due to the cottage development, where people enjoy spending their summers relaxing. For many years, the lake habitats have been affected by pollution and habitat destruction. The market for fish is tremendous; so much so, that we have depleted our fishing resources, and have had to market on invasive species.
People are polluting the oceans which not only affects us but also affects the beautiful underwater habitats and interesting sea creatures. Two billion people within 30 miles of the coast create 100 metric tons of coastal plastic waste (Doc.1). This plastic waste can get caught around sea animals, injuring them or even killing them (OI). Oils spills can really hurt marine life (Doc.2). Some creatures could eat it or get covered in it. If the fish eats the oil and then someone or something eats the fish they could get extremely ill. When there are excess nutrients in the water algal blooms occur, which is when algae has too many nutrients and reproduces in large numbers, this can also hurt people (OI). For these reasons and many more we should
Pollution has a really bad effect on the ecosystem. It can be harmful to the animals; from poisoning, to losing a body part, or even death. It can kill the local plant life, and affect us. Now you tell me, would you want to live and raise your kids in a filthy, polluted place that is not good for any
River pollution is a major problem and it has serious consequences, for example, because of pollution there are now 34 species of fish that live in the Missouri river that are rare or endangered. Also pollution is contaminating fish that come from the river, fish have been found with potentially deadly chemicals in them. This can be extremely dangerous, “According to a study by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, just a small drop of mercury is enough to contaminate a 20-acre lake, making fish unsafe to eat.” (Community Members Say Missouri River At Risk From Coal’s Mercury Pollution, 1). And 3 Million habitats have been changed because of pollution and this has affected the health of the wildlife and the ecology of the
There is a new chemical that “decreases male fertility, hormones, and testosterone” (“Declining Male Fertility”). The chemicals are in the shape or form of medicine and pesticides and can affect fish and other species in the water. Some research has shown that these “chemicals make male fish believe they are turning into females which is declining the male fertility in the water. These chemicals are getting in the water through the sewage pipes leading into the water. This not only harms the water, but also the organisms inside the water. Water pollution isn’t just hurting the environment, but also costing Americans money. Instead of drinking water from the faucets, people are buying more expensive types of bottled water. Since most people are buying expensive bottles of water, this is going to cost them more money. “Water pollution is costing the government, facilities, and Americans nearly $4.3 billion” (“Freshwater Pollution Cost $4.3 Billion”). These pollutants can cause harmful effects on us humans.
In Lake Erie, there is out-of-control algae growth that created dead zones. The problem has become critical in the western Lake because of harmful chemicals. Contaminants in fish certainly are causing health problems. At present, the solution is to make
According Oraclethinkquest, "Water pollution has the potential to have a harmful effect on all living things including plants and animal species. Chemicals, radioactive waste, industrial waste in the water can affect species and their development. There is no
I don’t agree with your statement about the cause of the many fish dying off in the Gray Area. To start off, you stated that the chlorine was not killing the fish, although tests proved that 8 fish were killed in result of chlorine from the waterpark. To add on, Ken Unballe stated that,“When we were forced to re-test on different days, we did find too much chlorine in the water”. Proving, chlorine is part of the fish dying off. In addition, phosphate tests on the cattle ranch also showed that the phosphate levels were not too high. Unlike, the phosphate levels in the golf course, which could be killing the fish. Phosphates build up in the water and cause more plants to grow, creating less oxygen to breathe. They do not poison fish. To add on, the oil found on the beach near Synchrony City was car oil, NOT refinery oil. Showing, that the refinery and cattle ranch can’t be killing the fish.
Water pollution and pollution in general is a problem that people don’t like to deal with. Water pollution can cause so much damage to people and to the animals that live in that body of water. The laws that we have are doing what they need to but we need to monitor the water more closely because if we don’t catch the pollution when it happens it could have a disastrous impact on the environment. It could kill all of the plant and animal life that lives in the water. Some of the pollutions that occur are very hard to clean up and the Eco-system may never fully recover. To clean something up it takes a lot of hours and a lot of man power to get this mess taken care of. Water pollution could be the cause of some animals being endangered.
due to pesticides, fertilizers human waste, mining, and manufacturing, the water is getting polluted. Pesticides cause water pollution by flowing into the runoff water that travels to the lake and gets polluted. Fertilizers cause water pollution because now farmers are using chemcal based fertilizers that cause the ground water to become contaminated or polluted over a long period of time. Human waste causes water pollution because it has many chemical that would be very harmful if it was ingested. Mining causes pollution because the machines that excavate the coal or ore use water to cool down. This run-off water, if released to a body of water, will cause algea growth and kill fish. Manufacturing Causes pollution as well because the machinary used to manufacture goods uses water cool down and when released to water, it increases bacteia to grow and kill fish.
Water pollution is a problem that most everyone would agree does exist. The toxic substances in the water can kill the plant life, animal life, and in some cases, the human life. In Teluk Mengkuang, Sijangkang, 156 ponds filled with tiger prawns died
Have you ever really thought about pollution impacting sea life, well I have and this is what people think. Sadly many animals die a slow painful death due to ocean pollution. It doesn’t even stop their, it doesn’t just affect the sea life it also affects the birds when they get stuck in oil spills or somehow they meet up with plastic. Ocean Pollution is having a negative effect on sea life because of plastics in trash, oil spills, and ocean mining.
When I was a little girl, I spent my summers rafting down and swimming in the rivers of Northern California, minutes from my house. My family would spend hours at the river weekly, having fun and relaxing by the water, but we never truly thought about what was actually in the water. Over the course of a few years, the water started becoming greener, making it so that we could not see the bottom. This cause was from the algae growth in the water. Our county started having health issues from humans and dogs alike, and every case of these issues came from swimming in the rivers. That summer, Humboldt County put a health warning out to the community, asking to stay away from the water. Of course, people would not listen, creating the epidemic of blue-green algae. Algae are the most noncomplex members of the plant kingdom, and the blue-green algae are the most plain of the algae. Blue-green algae have a substantial and increasing economic importance, they have both helpful and life threatening effects on living beings. Although they are named after algae, they are not true algae. Blue-green algae do not have a nucleus, or chloroplasts. Actually, blue-green algae are more related to bacteria, which have closer characteristics. The activity of nitrogen fixation and the occurrence of gas vesicles are extremely important to the triumph of blue-green algae. Blue-green algae are located in various locations on land and in water, generally in environments where vegetation does not
Water pollution affects plants and organisms living in these bodies of water; and, in almost all cases the effect is damaging not only to individual species and populations, but also to the natural biological communities.
