Diversity Within The United States

Knowing these and how they apply to each culture will help create a stimulating and supportive environment for students.

What does it mean to be an American? We are all different in this world, diversity includes everyone. Diversity refers to all of the ways in which people are different. The diversity of the United States society is increasing dramatically, due to high rates of immigration. America is built of people coming together from different races, nationalities, religions and sexes. This includes individual, group, and traditional differences. Diversity is a major role on impacting the the United States character, history, and tradition. Diversity made america what it is today. Can our society deal successfully with these changes?

Diversity exists all across the United States. It is defined as the state of having people who are different races or who have different cultures in a group or organization, according to Merriam-Webster dictionary. Along with the ever-growing diversity in America, brings along intercultural communication. Intercultural communication can be defined as a situated communication between individuals or groups of different linguistic and cultural origins. Due to the limitless amounts of diversity and intercultural communication across the United States, misunderstandings and clashes between cultures are bound to occur. These clashes have been as extreme to be used to explain violence and crime not only in the United States, but also throughout our entire nation. On the other end, these cultural clashes can be so personal in our everyday lives because of our expectations of a certain behavior coming from our own cultural backgrounds, as many others have very different cultural backgrounds and expectations of us.

Throughout the world social problems such as illiterate, elderly, handicapped, minority groups, and poverty have been the biggest part in our society for many years. Some of our social problems had died off, meanwhile, they’re still many problem that we are still facing as a society. One of the major social problem we face is people being illiterate. Being illiterate is meaning a person can not read nor write, and it can also mean that a person is grammatically incorrect. In the USA one of the most diverse place on earth, one would think that cultural diversity would not be an issue that needed to be addressed or be an issue at all. Right? I mean this country is probably the only place on earth where you can find nearly any nationality, ethnicity and type of people living among each other. He didn’t know until it had happened. His arm was completely trapped under a rock that had tumbled down after he fell through the crevasse. He was standing on a stable enough ledge, but his arm incapacitated his movement, and he could feel the blooding dripping down his forehead from a gash he received during the fall. Acknowledging what a child says or does is very important especially when it comes to kids that are different from others. Its important to encourage all kids that everyone is different and not the same. Weather its where they are from, how they learn, what they look like, or how they talk. Its the teachers job to be able to make every child feel comfortable with their differences. I think it would be a good idea to point out some differences in students that are unique and use that as a learning opportunity for the other students. Its good to learn new things and learn about others culture. If the teacher learns more about all the different cultures the students he/she has in there class it will help them be able to communicate better with them. It'll give them a better understanding of why the student acts the way they do and how they communicate. Understanding them more will help the students feel not so different and more understood. Even if its not acknowledging the students about something that makes them different. Just acknowledging them in general with positive attention, whether it be praise for something they did that was good, sitting next to them and just watching them work, both help the kids feel good and helps them want to keep doing what they are doing for that
