Diversity management is important to every company because no one wants a cookie cutter company and if you don’t you diversify that is what you will have.
What is diversity? Diversity is having people of different race or religion, culture on your team or group or in your company.
Why is this important? Because if you have all of the same kind of person you are going to end up with that cookie cutter company. If you have all males you would only have the male point of view or all female you would only have the female point of view. People from different races, cultures or even different ant religions bring different things to the table that makes everyone think and if you listen to them and go and think about it you might change your mind

Because if you don’t have diversity you’re missing out on what other people can bring to the table. Take for example the younger generations teaching the older generation about technology. Likewise, older generation can tech experience and respect they have a lot to say if you will just listen.
How does this affect mangers or management? In this class I learned how to be a fair manager. In leadership class I learned how to build a team and how to be able to use people strengths and to let them step up and be the leader if they do a certain part of the project better than you. Don’t let them doing that part of the project hinder the team goal just because you were assigned the leadership role, and if you use their idea don’t forget to give them the

My company that does not diversity well is Google. In a recent article Google announced that they had a problem with diversity. In a blog entry titled “Getting to work on diversity at Google” “Google’s senior vice president of “people operations” Lazlo Bock posted graphic revealing that 70 per cent of Google’s employees are men, 61of its total work force is white, another 30 percent are Asian, three percent are Hispanic and two percent are African American” “In this same article “PBS News Hour stated some of Google’s numbers are even worse 17 percent of workers who held technology positions are female. Only 2 percent are Latino 1 percent are African American. Asian Americans, meanwhile make up 34 percent of its tech employees.”
Even though the numbers did not make them look good they wanted to share the issues. In this same article there was a statement that went like
Diversity is a wonderful asset to an organization and brings with it many benefits. Employees bring in their own personal experiences and knowledge to the team (Burns & Kerby, 2012). Having diverse teams allows for the possibility to fix a problem or perfect a process by using different employee’s experiences and past knowledge to find solutions. A diverse workforce can drive economic growth and capture a greater share of the consumer market (Burns & Kerby, 2012). With diversity as a core value, the recruitment pool is widened to find the most qualified candidate and reduces employee turnover as a result. An organization can be highly competitive with a diversity initiative by adapting to a changing environment (Burns & Kerby, 2012).
Throughout the years companies have come to realize that there is a distinct advantage to diversity within their business, both in the corporate world as well as the retail environment.
Diversity should be respected and valued because everyone is different and can offer an alternative perspective. Everyone should be treated equally because everyone has something to offer and everyone has a strong factor/skill that they can contribute to the company.
Diversity is about respecting the fact that individuals are all different and these differences may occur in their age, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, race, appearance, cultural backgrounds, socio-economic status, ethnicity, physical disabilities, etc. (Source:

Although, cognitively diversity is necessary for a company’s success it is not often implemented as it is difficult to find, people tend to hire those individuals that are like them, and that people are often scared to voice their different perspectives. Therefore, focus on getting rid of these barriers as a means to help the organization
What is diversity and how do companies today utilize it in their culture? Diversity is being able to access and use a variety of tools and sources, including people. Three major companies that use diversity in their culture are; Kraft Food, Kellogg, and Procter & Gamble. All three of these companies recognize that their most important asset is their human capital. They understand that in order to save the company money every year they need to keep the turnover rate low and invest in the employees that they already have. From mentoring to talent development all three offer different training programs to all of their employees. These companies also see potential in hiring from labor pools that other companies pass up.
Managing diversity within a company is an important task that can have a major effect on a business. Diversity is measured in different aspects such as supplier diversity, affinity group diversity, employee diversity and technology diversity. The most common area of weakness in diversity with companies is employee diversity. This area of weakness has been a steady controversy for many large and small companies. Not every company struggles with diversity issues, in fact some companies exceed in being a diverse business. Not only does diversity factors like innovation, enhanced creativity, and cost savings benefit a company but it also puts them in favor with the public eye. Past controversies have shown that diversity can play a key factor in
In the global workplace we find ourselves today there is no way a business can flourish without embracing diversity. And I believe any diversity program will not succeed unless it includes all levels, from top leadership, middle level management and employees.
Diversity has been put in to affect since the beginning of time, even when it came to choosing something or someone. It’s like having a combination or a mixture of choices to choose from. Diversity has been an essential factor for almost every aspect of life, especially in the work place. It is important to be diverse in a business because it shows how well a person can adapt to change or how flexible they can be towards themselves and other employees.
What diversity are we talking about? We have ethnic mixes, cultural differences, racial diversity, and religions across the spectrum, wide age ranges, class mixes, and sexual orientation options. The world is so connected that we are doing business by e-mail and computer transmission all over the globe at all hours of the day and week. We encounter a staggering variety of people every day. We have so many types of people in the workforce today that we must define what we mean by diversity.
Diversity is important to companies because with a diverse environment people can benefit and learn from others' ideas. Other reasons for the importance of diversity to many organizations are the recognition of differences as prerequisites for high performance and continuous improvement, enhancing the effectiveness and creativity of the organization, and valuing conflicts as opportunities for more effective decision-making and problem solving. Diversity has a major impact on our behaviors in the work place.
We live in a world where “diversity“ has become a popular topic. The term means having a heart and mind that acknowledges, accepts, values and celebrates different ways in which people live and interact all over the world. My definition of diversity would include openness to differences among people, cultures and perspectives.
As companies become more diverse in the work field employees are getting harder to manage and understand. One issue in the global market today is workplace diversity. Workplace diversity is defined as all characteristics and experiences that defined each employee as individuals, but it can also be misunderstood as discrimination against employees. Diversity can include race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability and sexual orientation discrimination. One reason why workplace diversity is important is because when you respect your employees productivity rate rises and many companies do not know that. A diverse workplace targets to create an inclusive culture that values and uses the talents of all employees.
