Describe What Your Role, Responsibilities and Boundaries Would Be as a Teacher or Trainer in Terms of the Teaching and Learning Cycle. How Might “Equality”, “Diversity” and “Inclusion” Impact on a Learner’s Experience?

In an informal discussion between myself and the class teacher we would determine our roles throughout the activities, what teaching styles will be used to match the needs of the individual children or groups. Discussing the individual children and preparing to provide additional support ensuing all needs are met, any barriers that may become apparent during the lesson can be overcome without fuss.

The main role of a teacher/trainer should be to teach in a way which engages learners and actively engage learning during every lesson irrespective of the environment. In my position as IT manager at Barnsley College there are roles and responsibilities that are set to facilitate personal and organisational goals the same can be said for teaching and learning. As a teacher/trainer I will need to be able to adapt my style of teaching by being a friend, counsellor, mentor to ensure that my learners are

Supporting the curriculum is also one of my roles. Under the guidance of a classroom teacher I will understand the theories of learning. I will be aware of the development process in learning and any difficulties, the factors that affect pupils and how each national strategy works, including national numeracy and national literacy.

On reflection, promoting appropriate behaviour, equality and diversity, along with identifying the needs of the learner are integral roles within teaching.

1.1 The primary role of a teacher is to teach. They have to take into consideration the role in which they take to enable learners to learn.

The teacher's role is to plan lessons, direct and assess pupils learning. The role of the teaching assistant is to support the teacher in planning, delivering and evaluating learning activities and also, under the teacher's direction to give support to the class, whether it is the whole class, small groups or individuals.

All schools in the UK have a health and safety policy, in which they have to adhere to requirements. There are many current health and safety legislations, policies and procedures. These include the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 which was created to protect those at work by following procedures in order to prevent accidents.

1.1 One of the class teachers main roles is to monitor and assess pupil achievement. They need to know how their class are progressing and be able to report on this. The teacher plans the lessons and schemes of work to enable the children to reach their learning objectives. It is important that the teacher, children and support staff know the objectives so they can understand the learning that is taking place.

The role of a teacher is to make sure that tutorials are carried out and communicated effectively and appropriately with learners and that it conforms to professional codes of conduct, functional skills are completed, ground rules are established and all the requirements of awarding bodies are followed. They have to maintain a safe and supportive role in the learning environment and promote

It will be important to create an inclusive teaching and Learning Environment so my learners will have the opportunity to be involved and included in the process.I will need to make sure that I treat all my learners equally and fairly without directly excluding any of my learners.I must take into consideration that I won't be teaching my subject ( Painting & Decorating ) to a group of learners who are all the same, but to group of individuals with different abilities and needs which I must recognise.

In order to allow children to grow, learn and develop to their utmost potential, educators need to be attentive, inclusive, flexible and understanding. Attentive to the differences of each child and the variances they bring with them to the classroom, in order to best understand a child’s individuality. In being inclusive of all children, regardless of their circumstance, gender, history or attitude; the educator can make a conscious effort towards equality for all children. Having flexibility, to allow for prompt changes to pedagogy; as children are continually changing, growing and adjusting to their environments, therefore their learning path may also need to change, the educator needs to be able to introduce alternatives where required.

Diversity and Inclusion: I will approach diversity by embracing and being open to learning about other people and their families. I would make sure everyone is included and make sure students are respectful and open to diversity. I will adapt instructions if needed to meet the needs of a class or an individual student. I would adapt a lesson for an individual student if that student is struggling or needs extra help to make sure everyone is learning effectively.
