Eventually everyone dies. Some die because of old age, illness, suicide, murder, or even accident. Sometimes it is hard to tell what or who is responsible. In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet are responsible for their own deaths because they didn't talk to anyone, they didn't think their plans through, and they acted irrationally. If they had told someone, besides Friar and the nurse, they wouldn't have died. If Romeo and Juliet had talked to their parents about getting married they wouldn't have needed to hide it. Hiding their marriage caused many problems in the Capulet house because Lord Capulet wanted Juliet to marry Paris, but she couldn't because she was already married to Romeo. If they had told …show more content…
They did not think through all the possible outcomes before carrying out the plan. Romeo didn't get the letter on time so he didn't know the plan. Since Romeo didn't know the plan everything fell apart. When Romeo saw Juliet’s body, he acted irrationally and killed himself. If Romeo had waited just a little longer before he decided to kill himself he would've seen Juliet was not dead. Romeo drank poison only a little before Juliet woke up. When Juliet saw he was dead, she stabbed herself with a dagger. Both acted irrationally because they thought the other was dead. If neither had acted irrationally, Romeo and Juliet would still be alive. In conclusion, it was Romeo and Juliet’s fault that they died. If they had talked to someone, thought out their plans, and/or acted rationally, Romeo and Juliet would both lived. Other people played a role in their deaths, but it was mainly their own faults. Romeo and Juliet should've talked to someone other than the nurse and Friar, Juliet should've thought the plan through, and Romeo and Juliet shouldn't have acted irrationally. Both died because of themselves, but Romeo and Juliet is still considered a beautiful love
Some people may think the Nurse and Friar Lawrence is ultimately to blame for Romeo and Juliet deaths. The Nurse and Friar Lawrence both kept secrets. The Nurse told Juliet to marry Paris and the Friar knew Juliet was brave enough to take the sleeping potion and fake her death. Fate and
From the very prologue of Romeo and Juliet, we are informed by Shakespeare that these two “star-cross’d lovers” are going to “take their life”. For the rest of the play, we are left to observe how they kill themselves and who or what leads them into doing so. However, placing the blame on one person or event would be impossible, as nobody was directly responsible for their demise. Instead, everything that could possibly have gone wrong did go wrong. Although both Romeo and Juliet end up thinking it was their own decision to kill themselves, there were many other factors that unwittingly forced them into the situation they eventually found themselves.
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most tragic and depressing stories ever told. If you take the story from a different perspective and really think through some of the choices that were made leading up to their death you would see that Romeo and Juliet made some foolish decisions that caused their deaths. Foolishness is at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he went to the Capulet party and kissed Juliet, after the party he went to Juliet’s balcony and talked to her until the morning, and he also took Juliet’s virginity.
As the story of Romeo and Juliet further progresses, Romeo’s true character becomes more and more apparent; he seems to act solely by impulse. Romeo acts moreso with his emotions, and sudden thoughts than his brain which stores reason and logic. This causes for tragedy and unfortunate circumstance by the end of the poem. This shows how impulsive he is in most of his decisions and how he tends to be very dramatic in everything that he does. When Romeo discovers that Juliet is dead, he almost immediately dramatically decides to drink poison, to kill himself. “Here’s to love, O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick - thus with a kiss I die.” Which shows how quickly he makes wrash and dramatic decisions without thinking it through. If Romeo had not been so careless and impulsive in his decision, Juliet would have awoken and they would both still be alive.
In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two impatient and reckless teenagers; Romeo and Juliet fall madly in lust for each other. One thing stands between their love, their families are at war with each other. They hate anyone from the opposing family. In the end both Romeo and Juliet take their own lives. There are many people to blame; Friar Laurence, the Apothecary, Balthasar, Friar John, Juliet’s Parents, and Romeo himself comes to mind but, whose fault is really? Romeo is the reason why Juliet and he died because he was impatient, passionate, and irrational.
In dramatic literature, people are often responsible for the outcome. In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, star-crossed lovers take their life so they can be together in the afterlife. In the final scene of Romeo and Juliet, Prince Escalus says, “Some shall be pardoned, and some punished/ For never was a story of more woe/Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.(5.3.318).” Several characters are responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo shouldn’t have reacted so immaturity and should’ve waited patiently. Therefore, Romeo and Juliet would’ve lived happily
In the play, Romeo and Juliet, I believe Friar Laurence is to blame for their deaths. So many wrong steps were taken and encouraged by Friar Laurence to these naive lovers, that ultimately lead to their deaths. The first mistake that Friar Laurence made was to agree to marry the two in secret and without the permission of their parents. The next piece of bad advice the Friar gave, was when he instructed Juliet to fake her own death to avoid her dilemma. The last wrongdoing was giving the message for Romeo to an unreliable messenger. If any of these events did not take place, their deaths could’ve been avoided.
Some may say that Juliet is responsible for her own death because she chooses to drink the potion which sets the plan into action (Shakespeare 457). Romeo can also be blamed for both of their deaths because he drinks the poison after hearing about Juliet’s death. Additionally, Juliet wrongfully trusts the Friar to help her make decisions and he is the one who comes up with the plan, which makes him largely responsible. Romeo and Juliet need a responsible adult to assist with difficult decisions but instead they get the Friar, who... is both irrational and irresponsible for giving such power to young adults. Even though there were many contributing factors, the Friar is mainly to
Immediately after he heard that Juliet was “dead,” Romeo cried, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight./ Let’s see for means. O mischief, thou art swift/ To enter in the thoughts of desperate men!/ I do remember an apothecary.” Feeling hopeless and desperate without Juliet, Romeo made the impulsive decision of buying a deleterious potion in order for him to die beside his lover. His hasty manners caused him to make an abrupt choice of committing suicide in the spur of the moment. Because Juliet woke up moments later only to find Romeo dead beside her, she too, felt that life was unbearable without her lover and ended up stabbing herself. Had Romeo patiently thought through his actions instead of violently acting on impulse, both he and Juliet could have lived. Therefore, their deaths was not a result of fate, for Romeo had hastily decided to poison himself before he could receive the message of the hoax and Juliet ultimately chose to stab herself once she woke up to see that Romeo had misunderstood the situation and killed himself beside
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a love story that ends in death. Their deaths could be said to be caused by many but who's really to blame? The two fell in love at first sight, but soon realized that they belong to feuding families. Their last names weren't enough to break the two up. Romeo decided he wanted to be with Juliet the rest of his life and proposed a secret marriage. Friar Lawrence performed the ceremony and they were the happiest couple in Verona. Romeo and Juliet kept their marriage on the down low so problems would not arise. They story soon comes to an end when Romeo is exiled and Juliet starts feeling depressed. The Friar then gives Juliet a potion to “die” and bring Romeo back home. In the end the lovers’ tragic story ends with them both dead. But who to blame?
“Romeo and Juliet” is one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies. With a few different decisions by the main characters, the story could be altered completely. Romeo and Juliet were a pair of “star crossed lovers” however, their love was forbidden to an ancient grudge between their families, the Capulets and the Montagues. Despite the grudge, the lovers decide to secretly marry. Their decision results in a large amount of turmoil when Romeo gets banished when he kills Juliet's cousin, Tybalt. In an attempt to get back together, their death ensues. Many debate about who is responsible for their death, I believe that they are responsible for their own deaths because they were too hasty, broke rules, and were irresponsible.
The plan is for her to drink a potion to fake kill herself the night before the wedding. The wedding was supposed to be held for Juliet and Paris but when the Nurse went to go find her in her room she was found dead. The wedding then became a funeral where Juliet was placed into the Capulet tomb. Romeo then finds out that she is dead and goes to visit her. He doesn’t know about the plan so he kills himself because he can’t live without Juliet. Juliet then wakes up and sees Romeo dead and tries to kiss him to kill herself but fails. She gets a dagger and says, “O happy dagger! This thy sheath; their rust, and let me die” then kills herself. Romeo and Juliet have both died. This all has happened because of
Although many may see no other alternative than to blame those guilty by association, the fact remains that the Friar and the nurse are in no way responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Romeo and Juliet were completely in command of their own fate, leaving the Friar and nurse who attempted to provide advice to the best of their ability as innocent.
The play by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, shows that Romeo and Juliet are too young to be blamed for their tragic and untimely end. This complex love story had no sole person to blame. While Romeo and Juliet were partly responsible despite their young age, there were many other factors that contributed to their deaths. Miscommunication and poor decisions from the Friar, the Nurse’s betrayal on Juliet, and the ongoing family feuding were all factors that ultimately led to the tragedy.
