Database Environment Intro
The Tampa Art Museum needs to track the artwork, artists, and locations where the art is displayed or stored within the museum. Currently The Tampa Art Museum is using an inaccurate set of spreadsheets to keep track of art, artist, and location data within the Museum and it is very cumbersome for end users. The Project teams Goal is to create a reliable database to streamline operations at the museum and make inventory accurate and reliable.
Database Environment
The database environment consists of the system hardware, software, people, procedures, and data. The hardware that will be used for the database is a network of Dell

The data in the database will represent the artwork, artists, and locations art is stored within the museum. The data will be stored into tables created with Microsoft Access.
Problems & Constraints
The problems and constraints for the new database will be the gathering of data that needs to be represented in the new database. At the present time Microsoft Excel spreadsheets are being used to store data on art, artists, and art locations. These spreadsheets are not always updated and accurately represented on all present workstations. The data needs to be gathered and documented before the new database can be created to insure that the new database will be accurate.
Time is another constraint of the new database project. The database needs to be operational before the beginning of the next fiscal year and within the allotted budget of $20,000. The budget is allotted for labor only as all the hardware and software has already been obtained for the database.
Database Objectives
The objective of the database is to document what art, artists, and location of the art is contained within the museum. This will help museum project leaders know exactly what the museum has for art on hand, and to organize the inventory and prepare for future exhibits.
Scope
The scope of the new database is to define all the art, artist, and art locations within the museum. The database will only contain information about the art, artist, and location of the art within
Art galleries are essential to the art world, however, is not the only source for audiences to view art. To begin with, art and artwork is defined as the application of human skill, creativity and imagination. Taking this into consideration, individuals need to examine the nature and purpose of art galleries as a facility to collaborate, organize and display a collection of artworks. As art however, is any expression of human creativity, its presence is not bound to art galleries and is evidently present in the world around us be it in photographs, the internet or even in graffiti.
Museums have long served a purpose as cultural staples. For every museum, big and small, careful consideration is used in selecting its contents. When securing new items for a museum, it is most important to consider public appeal, educational value, and cost-effectiveness.
One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
The Mobile Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the region. It is the home to over 10,000 works of art with a span of more than two thousand years. The museum also houses a range of regional art exhibits and traveling exhibitions that rotate on a regular basis. The purpose of the Mobile Museum of Art is to collect and exhibit art for educating. The
The Dallas Museum of Art, or the DMA, displayed artwork of many different time periods from unique parts of the world, Africa all the way to South America. The cultures from room to room constantly shift in complexity and variety. Each room gave the audience a peek of what the past lives of this culture looked like and their values. The entire museum incorporated different parts of the world, each being exotic in their own way, and no two being alike.
To highlight the relationship between each of the exhibitions, the staff could provide daily visitors with a cohesive guide map of the entire museum. The current location of the museum is massive to accommodate for the displays as well as three research laboratories, but due to large size, each exhibit feels isolated and
Why are databases important to business? How do databases generate sales and-or profits? What databases do you interact with, and how do they benefit you?
Located at the vibrant Art District of downtown Dallas, Texas, Dallas, the Dallas Museum of Art is a destination for people of all ages with the interests in art. The Dallas Museum of Art, established in 1903, has a wide-ranging collection of more than 24,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of human creativity. It contains a variety of art forms such as paintings, sculpture, photography, architecture, decoration and installation art from the ancient America, Africa, Europe, Asia to the modern and international contemporary
Next, each room of art were unique. When I get into each room, some things that surprise me that each room was very exclusive, original and uncommon. Also, the rooms were very enlightened and I personally felt that each room had something for everyone in the family. Another thing that I noted of the museum was the accessibility of each floor, so anybody can go and have a great time without
The database used should be open and industry standard to allow easy integration with other applications and easy movement of data in the future. The database
This paper will compare and contrast five different database management systems on six criteria. The database management systems (DBMS) that will be discussed are SQL Server 2000, Access, MySQL, DB2, and Oracle. The criteria that will be compared are the systems’ functionality, the requirements that must be met to run the DBMS, the expansion capabilities – if it is able to expand to handle more data over time, the types of companies that typically use each one, the normal usage of the DBMS, and the costs associated with implementing the DBMS.
Assessment must be done to determine the current strengths and weaknesses of the existing collection. Any proposed acquisitions should be able to address the limits in the existing collection or plug any gaps in the collection. The acquisition strategy should ensure that objects to be accepted or otherwise acquired for museum collection shall enhance and reflect the immediate and long term goals of the museum.
What types of knowledge are introduced through digital media in the two museums and how does this knowledge relate to the users experience of the museum
Database is defined as a set of related data in many tables and uses links through something called foreign keys. In a Database product you can create and modify several databases.
The Cambridge Dictionary Online defined museums as “places of study, buildings where objects of historical, scientific or artistic interest are kept, preserved and exhibited”. To The Museums Association, a museum is “an institution which collects documents, preserves, exhibits and interprets material evidence and associated information for the public benefit”. Since 1998, this definition has changed. Museums now enable the public to explore collections for inspiration, learning and enjoyment. They are institutions that collect, safeguard and make accessible artefacts and specimens, which they hold in trust for society. Mike Wallace (1996) categorised museums into four distinct types, namely National Museums that hold collection of
