The genre of crime movies emerged in the mid- 1940s with more cynical plots and storylines. The genre of crime movies is sometimes viewed as detective-mystery movies or post-war film noir (Grant 2012). This is because of the numerous similarities in the cinematic features between them. Crime movies, other than the criminal activities also involve detective investigations, criminal cases and solution of the cases. The detective investigations incorporate legislative procedures, policies, and intense police work.
