In order for me to get control of the county budget I would change the way I think. I would initially start to swallow my pride and have a mind set of doing things to become better and learn how to do things right. Although I feel that the way things are done is the right way and we are able to still function as a county, I would try to adapt some the leadership aspects of Phoenix. Which means I will have to spend less money to not end up bankrupt again and again and again. Since no one has never succeed in convincing me to be a a part of a team, I am willing to try to work as a team to better control our budget. In return this will help us gain tourist attraction and be more efficient ant financial management.
The sheriff is elected by the voters/the people of their specific county. Since his purpose is to answer directly to the people in regards to law and order (americancopmagazine.com/elected-vs.-appointed/) I will find a way to convince him that we are able to survive with what budget we have because we always had enough to do what needed to be done, but if he feels there is a more proficient or organize way to manage our budget then by all means I would take his council. Normally if funds were finish from one place it was okay for us to take it from somewhere else

According to Wikipedia the board of county supervisor is a governing body that oversees the operation of county government in all United States counties including Arizona. I'll request that they direct me in making Maricopa county better. I want to be passionate as was mentioned in an article by Ehrenhalt, A (1995, April) he stated there is "passionate advocate of the view that cities and countries work better when they are run by professional; managers..." I am use to not having no one in
In addition to the CCP, each county has an executive committee comprised of CCP members that include; the Chief probation officer, Chief of police, Sheriff, District Attorney, Public Defender, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, a representative from either the County Department of Social Services, Mental Health, or Alcohol and Substance Abuse Programs, who are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors (Bird 2016). The Executive Committee presents the recommended plan, which is deemed accepted by the county Board of Supervisors unless the Board rejects the plan by a four-fifths vote. This complex mix of bureaucracies is in place to separate the state from any direct realignment responsibilities other than funding 2016).
In the budget documents mention that the focus of the county will be emergency preparedness, fire protection and public safety; protect public health; promote healthier communities and living habits; conduct elections; maintain a strong, vibrant public library system; expand and protect park and open space resources and continue to promote sustainability and conservation. they will also complete Phase 1B of the County Operations Center and Annex redevelopment project and will start work on a new Sheriff's
In this type of system, the County Commission stands as the executive leader of the county. The Commission is made up of three commissioners that are elected every six years. One member is elected, by the body, as President of the Commission during the first meeting of the year in January. The current commissioners are Agnes Queen, Patrick Boyle, and Thomas Fealy, with each representing a different magisterial district of the county (lewiscountywv.org). Their powers and duties consist of but are not limited to having jurisdiction in all matters of probate, custody of all deeds and any other paper presented for record in the county, and having the superintendence and administration of the internal police and fiscal affairs of the county
The most important local county office to me is the Sheriff. When most people think of our county Sheriff they think of their job as writing tickets and arresting criminals; although these things are part of their job these things are just a piece of the responsibility that Sheriffs all over the country carry. When most people hear the word Sheriff they think something negatively. These people don’t realize everything a Sheriff does to keep us and our county safe.
I am honored to the opportunity to internship at the Bibb County Sheriff Department supervised by Cindy Gresham, the executive assistant of this agencies. Historically, there were two agencies ensuring public safety in Bibb County, The Bibb County Sheriff Department and the Macon Police Department. There were five attempts to consolidate the two agencies, but consolidation was unsuccessful. However in 2003, the two agencies were consolidated into one unified government formally known as the “The Bibb County Sheriff Department.” This consolidations prompted a complete reconstruction of the unified agencies. There were new policies and rankings implemented and the creation of a newly organized board. This paper will explain the mission of the agency, the types of services provided, sources of revenue, the administration and organization structure, and community resources utilized.
Greenleaf, I would adopt the servant-leadership model to effectively implement policy change. Servant-leadership is defined as, “A new kind of leadership model which puts serving others as the number one priority [and] emphasizes increased service to others; a holistic approach to work; promoting a sense of community; and the sharing of power in decision-making (Smith,
As the newly appointed Chief of police, it is my job to ensure that the community feels that their concerns are addressed. I feel that the first thing to do is hold a city hall meeting for a question and answer. This would not only give me a better idea of what the community is wanting from the police in the community and it would also allow the community to know how the police force operates and how we should be operating.
Hello, I am Jeremy Wilczek, the new mayor of Little Egg Harbor New Jersey. I love our little town, and I believe it is almost perfect. There is something I would do to make our town better. To start, I think we should find out who the mayor is and how he affects our town. Usually a mayor will oversee police, firemen, education, housing, and transportation departments. There are four options for a city's government structure, and some cities use several. One power structure is the council-weak mayor. This type of structure gives the majority of the city power to the council, with the mayor acting as a leader of the council. The mayor is also responsible for signing proclamations and making ceremonial appearances.
5. A new sheriff is elected and implements the changes that were part of the platform on which he or she ran (Swanson, 2012, pg. 651). This can be based on promises or commitments made by the sheriff in order to gain respect and support from the electing community. With the promises to a desired action by the sheriff comes change within the agency in order to comply with such promises.
The Department’s sergeants and other supervisors have the most influence and impact on these front-line personnel. Many of DSD’s direct supervisors are dedicated and hardworking individuals who strive to treat their employees well and support them in their daily activities. Yet our assessment revealed a number of concerns that need to be addressed by the new Sheriff and members of the command staff. Command deputies need to be more consistent in their expectations of subordinates. This will help employees better understand the Department’s priorities and what actions and behaviors they need to adopt and demonstrate in order to advance DSD goals. Direct supervisors and DSD leaders have a critical role in building morale
As a leader in his capacity, the Sheriff was able to make changes and mold the organization in the manner that fit with his vision for the organization. A transformational leader should be able to provide a vision to change and organization or in this case the community and be able to do so successfully. Transactional theories of leaders must be able to successfully express and implement visions that will enable growth to organizations and individuals. “Knowledge of the structures of the structures and processes f local government is necessary for citizens and professionals to choose wisely among the ways they may govern their communities, but it is not sufficient (Box, 2014, p 134).” As a community, it is our responsibility to be aware of the changes going on and being a part of decision making within the government that they are able to participate in. “Local control means that people in communities decide their futures relatively independently, putting outside pressures in perspective and fighting against closed or elitist political systems (Box, 2014, p 135). The participation of local citizens is imperative to moving along the processes of change that individuals propose to bring forth change and bring forth
As a veteran who served this country countless times in the Kosovo War and the War in Iraq, I believe that I will be the communities best option for police sheriff.
If I were mayor of Sublette I would appoint a tough and reliable person as town fire chief and my assistant fire would be a trustworthy person that is liked throughout the community. I would also appoint a very organized person as my city secretary that I know that every demand will be taken care of and my city will not be in debt or have major problems. Likewise I would appoint a handy and helpful person as my city superintendent, the person who completes the maintenance needs around my town. The people that I assign to these roles will all be organized, some more than others, they will be kind to their peers in the community, as well as reliable and trustworthy.
One reason I look up to the Sheriff is that they help people in our communities. I would love to help people whether it be elders or children in my community. I also would love to keep people out of danger and out of being harmed. Like I said, with being a Sheriff it comes great responsibility.
During my internship experience I was able to learn how the Sheriff Department division has their own methods on how they perform their services such as their job duties, policies, and operations and how they differ from other agencies. The police is charge of the city limits and the sheriff is in control of the county roads which are outside the city limits but there jurisdiction only covers public county roads not private roads for example, during my ride along there was a complaint that was complaining about four wheelers making a lot of noise down the road due to the road being private the deputy advise her that the road has to be own by the county and he couldn’t do anything. During my ride along I was able to make observations on how
